Mojo Monday Week 74

Hi there everyone, welcome to another mojo Monday and terrific sketch from Julee. Here is my sample and the sketch for you.

Well, I have to start out by telling you that this card seriously took me forever!!! This was one of my five longest cards to make I think. I had a mishap and my copic marker started oozing and ink was everywhere so I had to start over. Then I thought I would try to do something a little new and do the paper tole technique with more layers than I normally would. The cutting out was a little long and tedious and too time consuming for this super slow cardmaker. Anyway, after all the time I took making it, I can't say that I am thrilled with it as the idea I had in my head did not come out on the paper the way I envisioned it. Did you ever have that happen and if so isn't it aggravating LOL? Enough chatter, on with the details. I stamped the bird and balloons 4 times and colored them with copics and then cut them out and layered the pieces with pop dots. I used angel wings shimmerz on the balloons, hat, and wing of the bird. I also used coal shimmerz to paint the brads and the black mattes. I have to admit that took a while to paint all the edges. I added tiny rhinestones to accent the tail and feet.

Supplies:
stamps- Verve birthday surprise
CS- silver swirls lustre, soft sky dp, white, black
accessories- coal and angel wings shimmerz, rhinestones, copics (BG10, BG72, BG75 (this is the one that exploded)), double sided satin ribbon, paper piercer, black brads, circle punch, pop dots

Don't forget to stop by the mojo Monday blog and check out the terrific samples from the mojo makers.

Hope you all have a wonderful day! I need to cook and clean now since the pastor and his wife are coming over my house for dinner tonight and hopefully I can get all the ink off of my fingers LOL. I made sauce and meatballs last week so we are having lasagna- yum!

Mojo Monday Week 73

Just another manic Monday and another awesome mojo Monday sketch for you from Julee. Here is the sketch and my sample for you:

I stamped my image and colored the heart with my R46 copic marker and then painted it with royal red shimmerz paint. I punched the corners with my scallop corner punch, matted it and then accented the corners and some of the swirls with tiny clear rhinestones. I stamped my bg with the border stamp from artful elegance by Verve with black ink and the bottom portion is accented with 3 red rhinestones given to me by my friend Michelle in Oregon- thanks girl!! I ran my red satin ribbon through the silver ribbon slide and trimmed the edges. I finished my stamping by sentiment with red ink and then matting it.

Supplies:
stamps- Verve stamps Hearts on Fire and Artful Elegance
CS- red, white, black
accessories- royal red shimmerz, rhinestones, Marvy corner scallop punch, red satin ribbon PTI, silver ribbon slide SU, R46 copic marker

Don't forget to stop by the mojo Monday blog to see the rest of the details for this week's challenge and to see the rest of the wonderful samples by the mojo makers.

What is a birthday without cupcakes and presents? Birthday blog candy

Hi everyone! Today is my middle daughter's 6th birthday so I thought we would celebrate! First, I will show you the card I made for her then I will show the blog candy.

I first stamped my swing and then colored it with copic markers. Once colored I then created the sky behind the swing by using my homemade cloud template (a scalloped oval punched out of acetate) and sponging with sky ink. Next my princess was stamped, colored with copics, cut out and accented with stickles. The princess was then adhered to the swing with pop dots. I colored the rhinestones inside my flowers with my V15 copic marker to make them purple. Never tried it before but boy do I like it! You can make a rhinestone the perfect color to match your project- woo hoo. Now I don't have to buy bling in EVERY color LOL. The matte around the princess and the sentiment as well as the hearts were painted with lilac shimmerz. My layout today was the sketch challenge on SCS that I flipped vertically.

Supplies:
stamps- high hopes princess, swing, sentiment
CS- PTI shimmer white, plum pudding, dp
accessories- lilac shimmerz, rhinestones, pop dots, stickles, bridal confetti flowers, satin ribbon, copics (V12, V15, V17, E00, E50, R20, Y21, Y23, E30, E31, E33, E35, E37, E25, E27)

Here is the blog candy:

In honor of Lindsey's 6th birthday you will have a chance to win 6 items:

1. MFT cupcake kind of day stamp set (NEW but not packaging)
2. 6 colors of grosgrain ribbon (approx 3 yds each)
3. cupcake rub-ons
4. some images
5. bling
6. butterfly embellishments

You will have 6 days to enter so I will close the blog candy on 2/9/09 at 10:55 AM which is the time she was born LOL. To enter for the blog candy drawing- you need to become a follower of my blog and post a comment that you did so on this blog post. If you are a follower already- just simply leave a comment on this post. Want a second chance to enter? If you post a link to my blog candy on your blog, you get a second entry and post a second comment saying that you did so.

ETA: I just had to share this. I gave my daughter her card and she loved it. What is sweeter though is that she has show and tell at school tomorrow and she wants to bring her princess card for her show and tell item. Is that not the sweetest thing? It just warmed my heart.

Thanks for stopping by today and good luck on winning the blog candy!

Birthday blessings,

Double sketch day with prizes

Happy Monday! Today I have 2 card samples for you using two different sketches and there is a prize associated with each. First up is the weekly mojo Monday sketch brought to you by Julee Tilman, owner of Verve stamps. Once a month there is a prize awarded to 2 people whose creations Julee finds to be the mojoest. This is a judged contest and you can find out all the details and see the other mojo makers samples on the mojo Monday blog. But first take a peek at the sketch and my sample:

As soon as I saw this newly released scripture stamp from Verve stamps I knew I had to have it. This is my favorite verse and one which I held onto when I was going through a difficult time 9 years ago. Anyway, I first stamped the cross image and then stamped the scripture on top of it with navy ink then sponged the edges with the saffron that the cross was stamped with and also edged it with gold glimmer blingz shimmerz. I used my favorite cryogen white paper available at Paper Temptress. I just love the subtle shimmer is has and it is even thick enough to use as a card base as well. I sponged the prima with navy and then used gold glimmer blinz to accent the flower and the button and pixie dust blingz on the leaves. I used a spica glitter pen to accent the dots on my dp and added tiny gold pearls to the scallops.

Supplies:
stamps- Verve stamps Jer 29:11
CS- navy, saffron, cryogen white, basic grey granola dp
accessories- gold pearls, corner rounder punch, gold glimmer blingz, pixie dust blingz, MS branch punch, gold edge organdy ribbon, saffron button, gold cold

The second sketch is from Card Positioning Systems and Sweet N Sassy stamps is one of the sponsers this week. A random participant of this week's challenge will be drawn to win the floral fourishes stamp set from SNSS. In order to be in the drawing you need to post a comment with a link to your project on the CPS blog post. Check out the sketch and my sample.

I have recently shown you some cards using one of my favorite sets from Sweet N Sassy stamps called Love Blooms. Those cards have been Valentines and lovey type cards but I wanted to show you that this set is much more versatile and can be used all year long not just for Valentines. I decided to use one of the sentiments that come in the set to create a birthday card. One of my favorite colors of roses is coral so that is what I did here coloring the image with copics. I added some crystal effects to the vase to make it look like glass and used my spica glitter pen on the roses. I also used an oval nestie die as a stencil to sponge some blush ink around my vase to create a vignette. Some tiny rhinestones were added to the points of the top note die.

Supplies:
stamps- Sweet N Sassy stamps Love Blooms
CS- sweet blush, sorbet, white from PTI
accessories- rhinestones, copics (R20, R22, R24, YG 63, YG66, C1, C3), crystal effects, sorbet satin ribbon, oval nesties, SU top note die, spica glitter pen, swiss dots cuttlebug folder

Thank you so much for stopping by today. I hope you will decide to play along with the challenges this week. I would love to see what you come up with! Have a wonderful, blessed day.

Janette

High Hopes Challenge 16- Lace!

Good day everyone! This week's high hopes challenge is to use lace on your card and is brought to us by the super duper talented Ila. Well, believe it or not I have never used lace on a card so this was a great push too.

I colored my Bethany angel with prismapencils and blended them with gamsol. I used stickles on her wings and shimmerz on the hearts on her purse, pants and the prima flowers. The angel was cut out and attached to the oval which is sponged with pop dots. I actually started this card a couple weeks ago for the SCS challenge to dress up your dp and did not have time to finish it. On the dp strip, I embossed the heart flowers and on the bg dp I added stickles to the center of the flowers. This is my current favorite patterned paper right now and it is called Sugared from Basic Grey. This and lots of other awesome paper is available at Sweet N Sassy stamps. Now, where can you get the lace that I used on my side strip?? LOL- I actually cut the trim from one of my oldest dd's slips that was too small. I did not have any lace in my stash and could not get around to go buy some with my injured ankle so I improvised. Now, my friend Sue did go and get some lace trim for me which I did not use yet because this one looked better. She is such a sweetie and I promise that the lace she got for me will appear on a future card. Thanks Sue, you're an angel!!! Maybe she will have to get this card then huh?

Supplies:
stamps- high hopes Bethany angel and sentiment
CS- so saffron, white, basic grey sugared dp
accessories- prismapencils, gamsol, liquid pearls, oval nesties, angel wings shimmerz, lace, iridescent ice ep, stickles, primas, pearl

Be sure to check out the high hopes blog post today to see the specifics for this week's challenge and the stamp prize up for grabs too. There is lots of inspiration from the divas to check out as well! Since today is Febraury 1st that means that there is a new project of the month from high hopes too. There are 4 stamps from the new Feb. release that are offered as a set at 25% off. You can check them out HERE. As soon as my stamps arrive, I will have some samples of my own to show you.

I also would like to let you know that Sweet N Sassy stamps is one of the sponsors this week on the CPS blog for their one year anniversary celebration. You can see the details of the that contest on the CPS blog today. Be sure to also stop back here on my blog tomorrow because I will have 2 cards to show you. Wow- what a great week of challenges and prizes in store for you all!! Three chances to win new stamps- how cool is that huh?

Hope to see you tomorrow- have a great day and I am so glad you visited!

Mojo Monday Week 71

It is Monday and that means it is time for another awesome Mojo Monday sketch brought to us by Julee Tilman.

Here is the sketch and my sample:

I must admit that my mojo was not quite where I wanted it this time LOL. I had a bit of trouble not because the sketch was difficult but because everything I was trying to do would just not cooperate. I made wrong cuts, had trouble with the sponging and numerous other mishaps so it was not my day really. It took me a very long time to complete this card between my mistakes and my ankle. I had to stop and start so I could elevate it between goof ups LOL. So, the card is not too bad.

I pulled out some of my absolute favorite papers for this card- basic grey bittersweet dp (available at Sweet N Sassy stamps) and my all time favorite cardstock- cryogen white. I stamped my sentiment and sponged around it while it was still in my nestie die. I added crystal effects to the two small hearts. I stamped my hearts, painted them with pink poinsettia blingz shimmerz, cut them out and adhered to the square with pop dots. I used my scallop corner punch on the 4 corners and accented each with a pearl.

In the close up you can see how pretty and shimmery the cryogen white iridescent cardstock is. Isn't it yummy? I have been hoarding it because I only had a few sheets left and did not know where I could get it at a reasonable price. Well, now I know! The Paper Temptress has this and lots of other gorgeous specialty papers!

Supplies:
stamps- Verve stamps Sweet Valentine
CS- cryogen white, basic grey bittersweet dp
accessories- pink poinsettia blingz, taffeta ribbon, marvy scallop corner punch, pink pearls, labels one nesties, crystal effects, paper piercer

Don't forget to stop by the mojo Monday blog for more challenge details and to check out the other samples from the mojo makers.

There is a new challenge posted on the Sweet N Sassy blog today so check it out if you have time. I had wanted to have a sample to show you for that but things did not go how I planned them.

A new high hopes challenge with blog candy drawing started yesterday and you have until Saturday to complete the challenge for a chance to win some stamps.

Have a nice day!

High Hopes Heart Challenge

Hello to everyone! Sunday brings us another high hopes challenge and this week I am the hostess. My challenge is not too hard- just to use hearts somewhere on your design. It can be in the image, dp, punches, cuttlebug- whatever your "heart" desires :). You may see a theme here this week LOL. The participants of this week's high hopes challenge will go into a drawing to win 2 stamps from high hopes- matchmakin' Maynard and the light my fire sentiment. I used both of these on my sample for you along with the HH balloon stamp.

I colored my image with my copic markers, sponged around it while still in the oval die, then accented it with stickles glitter glue. The white bg was run through my heart embossing folder. I stamped my middle strip with my balloon stamp in red ink and then also stamped and embossed 4 balloons on red paper. I then stamped the letters L O V E in them, cut them out and tied thread around each gathering the 4 strings together and securing to my card with a glue dot. I had to cover that up so I added some little black heart "scraps" from my border punch to my card. They were each painted with coal shimmerz. I tied some stitched ribbon around the middle and attached the image with pop dots. I used Taylor's cupcake sketch for my layout. She is celebrating a year of cupcake sketches with some prizes from her store so you may also want to check that out.

Here is a closer look:

Supplies:
stamps- high hopes matchmaking Maynard, light my fire, heart balloon
CS- black, red, white
accessories- fruit punch stickles, stardust stickles, white gel pen, heart cuttlebug folder, sewing machine, oval nestabilities, coal shimmerz, fiskars heart border punch, stitched grosgrain ribbon, black ep, thread, brayton font just rite stamper letters, pop dots, copics (G21, G94, RV10, RV11, R32, R27, R37, E31, E33)

I hope to see many of you able to play along with my challenge this week. When you do, please be sure to post a comment with the link to your creation on the HIGH HOPES blog to be entered into the drawing. Be sure to check out the other awesome samples that the divas made this week too while you are visiting the blog.

I know that I have been a bit more quiet this week. My ankle is still pretty sore but it is slowly improving. Anyway, I try to limit my trips downstairs to my craft area and I can't stay down there too long when I am down there because I need to elevate it as much as possible to get the swelling down. So hopefully I can get a shoe on it in a few days. I did venture out of the house yesterday for the first time in nearly a week. I used one of those boots you put over casts that is my mother in laws and my cane. Problem is that living in Buffalo we have snow and ice which are not conducive to my situation LOL. I nearly tripped because the boot thingy is too big and of course the movie room happened to be the farthest one from the door. We took the girls to the cheapy movies yesterday to see Madagascar 2. My youngest also had not been out of the house in almost a week since I could not take her anywhere so I felt badly and wanted her to be able to do something. So, keep praying for my ankle to heal if you would.

Come back tomorrow where there will be a new mojo Monday sketch and a new Sweet N Sassy stamps weekly challenge as well. I am hoping to be able to create some samples today for them so hopefully all will go as I plan.

Have a great day and happy stamping!!

Mojo Monday Week 70

Hello everyone! Monday brings us a new sketch for the week from Julee Tilman (owner of Verve stamps).

Here is the sketch and my sample:

I started by stamping my stem and cutting out the rectangle with my nesties. I then stamped the 2 different sized flowers and painted pink poinsettia blingz over them. Once dry I cut them out and layered them on top of the stem with pop dots between each flower and added a rhinestone to the center. I did the same for the butterfly and pierced a trail for it.

Supplies:
stamps- Verve petals and stems and artful elegance
CS- pretty in pink, celery, white, berry bliss dp
accessories- pink rhinestones, celery brads, paper piercer, pink poinsettia blingz, long rectangle and circle nestabilities, square punches, taffeta ribbon, pop dots

I am sorry that I did not take a picture of the dimension for you like I usually do but I was not feeling well yesterday and I even struggled with finishing my card.

Anyway, be sure to stop by the mojo Monday blog to check out the other samples from the mojo makers and to get the info on how you can play along.

Also, if you are a challenge lover, Monday is also the start of a new challenge on the Sweet N Sassy stamps blog. This week the challenge is brought to us by Chris Dickinson and is an inspiration challenge.

Hope you all have a wonderful mojolicious day!

High Hopes Snowlady

I decided to ink up this adorable high hopes snowlady for the color challenge this week on Splitcoast.

I colored the snowlady with copics and cut her out. I also cut the bird out separately. I ran by white bg rectangle through my cuttlebug with the snowflake folder. This was then sponged with baja ink. I tore 4 strips of white paper then inked the edges and accented them with stickles. I adhered them to the cb bg overlapping each slightly. I then attached my snowlady and nestled her in between 2 of the layers. The bird was popped up on her shoulder and stickles were added to accent the snowlady and the cb bg. I finished the card by adding some snowflake punches that I painted with shimmerz. If you click on the photo, you can see a really good close up of it.

Supplies:
stamps- high hopes birdie friend snowlady
CS- not quite navy, baja breeze, kraft, white
accessories- stickles, white gel pen, ms doily lace punch, copics (E31, E33, E37, E29, E47, BG10, BG72, BG75, RV10, RV11, C1, C4, blender), not quite navy inkpad, aquapainter, baja ribbon, ms snowflake punches, angel wings shimmerz

**I was asked which browns I used on the mittens and hat. They are colored with E31 and E33.

Hope you are all safe and warm. Frigid cold temps here again today!

Blessings,
Janette

High Hopes challenge 13 and a new POTM too

Happy Lord's day Sunday to you all!! Today the sun is shining here in Buffalo and even though the temperature is cold it just really uplifts my spirits with the bright sunshine. Today I have 2 projects featuring high hopes stamps that I would like to share with you.

First is my card for this week's challenge which is brought to us by the "head diva" the talented Kim Reid. The challenge was to use dry embossing on your card. I was really pleased because one of my favorite tools to use is my cuttlebug with the embossing folders. Today I used the birthday folder on my card for the bg.

I colored my image with copics and accented it with a white gel pen and some stickles. I used the sketch on SCS this week for my layout and Gavin is cut out as is the balloon which is also on a pop dot. I used brads and ribbon as my embellishments.

Supplies:
stamps- high hopes Gavin the givin dragon, PTI sentiment
CS- jersey shore dp, bashful blue, white, brilliant blue
accessories- stardust stickles, pop dots, orange brads, blue grosgrain, copics (G21, G94, B21, B23, B24, R20, prisma- yellow ochre, poppy red, orange)

Would you like to win some high hopes stamps? You would- great!! A random winner will be drawn from all the participants in this week's challenge to receive some free stamps. You can see the deets on how you can enter and what the prize stamps are HERE

Every month high hopes offers a collection of around 3-4 coordinating images and offers them at a 25% discount- this is known as the project of the month (POTM). I created a cute little tooth fairy box for my middle daughter who has her first loose tooth using the January POTM.

I colored my angel with copics and accented the wings with angel wings shimmerz of course! I also used some stickles on the stars and rhinestones for the wand and wings. I cut my fairy out and curled up her wings just a little. She was placed on top of my labels one nestabilies which was sponged white in the die. I created a glitter frame by using some strong red line sticky tape around the border in which I used glitter on top of. The box measures approx 4"X4" and I used this tutorial to create it.

High Hopes First 2009 challenge

Hi everyone! Today the high hopes first challenge of the new year is posted. There are some stamps up for grabs for a random participant of this week's challenge. The challenge was to use tearing on your card. I did 2 examples for the challenge. I wanted to make some New Year's cards for some people that I was unable to mail a Christmas card to.

Here is the first card:

I colored the image with copics and cut it out so that the ax would be omitted. I distressed the edges and matted it tearing the bottom of the mattes. I sanded the edges of the dp and tore 2 strips of paper to go across the seams of the 2 designs following with some twine.

Supplies:
stamps- high hopes Father time and new year sentiment
CS- KandCompany dp, soft sky, bazzill brown, white
accessories- copics (E31, E33, E37, BG10, E00, R20, C1, C4), white gel pen, edge distressor, twine, shimmer brads

Here is the second card:

Now can't you just see santa relaxing on a beach with a cool drink after Christmas LOL?

I colored the image with copics, used angel wings shimmerz on the hat trim, and used a paintbrush to stipple the sky and sand. I used the our creative corner sketch this week for my layout and tore the yellow sunshine dp strip. I used a rhinestone accent on the glass and for the exclamation point.

Supplies:
stamps- high hopes tropical santa, new year sentiment
CS- imaginisce dp, red, white
accessories- copics (G21, R46, R27, R59, E00, E33, E37, C1, prisma sunburst yellow), white ribbon, angel wings shimmerz, copic spica glitter, red brads, rhinestones, SU scalloped circle punch

Well, what a way to celebrate the New Year- with new stamps! Sweet N Sassy stamps is releasing 7 new stamp sets tomorrow (Jan 2) and I am blessed to be able to offer one stamp set to you for blog candy. The set I am giving away is called True Friend and it is a great versatile set that can be used on both the outside and inside of cards. I love it and I think you will too. Here is a picture of the set you have a chance to win from me:

I also have a sneak peek card to show you featuring 2 of the new sets- one of them being true friend which is the one I am offering today.

On the top section I embossed the heart and then use my piercabilities to paper pierce a pattern around it. I painted the heart with pink poinsettia blingz shimmerz and then accented the pattern with pearls. I stamped my sentiment in the scalloped circle which is from the new love blooms set being released and sponged a heart over the top from a mask I made from a punched out heart.

Here is the inside of the card featuring the true friend stamp set:

I stamped the verse and then sponged over it with pink ink. I did this by creating a square stencil with my nestabilities.

Supplies:
stamps- Sweet N Sassy stamps Love Blooms, True Friend
CS- basic grey bittersweet dp, white, burgundy
ink- burgundy, pink
accessories- Spellbinders piercablities, MS doily lace border punch, white satin ribbon, pearls, pink blingz shimmerz, shimmer heart brads, heart punch, scallop punch, circle punch, Marvy scallop corner punch

So to win the True Friend stamp set all you need to do is to leave a comment on this post and the winner will be drawn tomorrow night (Friday) during the release party. The party will be in the forum on the SNSS website starting at 9PM EST.

After you leave your comment here be sure to head on over to Suzy's blog. She has has awesome card to share with you and blog candy as well. A week of challenges

Hi there everyone! I know it has been awhile since I have posted but like many of you I have been really busy trying finish things up for Christmas. I probably won't be able to post much until after the New Year either. I have some things that I worked on this week that I would like to share with you.

First up is my card that I made for the hanna stamps weekly challenge which I am the hostess of.

The challenge is to use non-traditional Christmas stamps or colors to create a Christmas project. I used a winter set and pink, celery and cocoa for my card. I colored the image with copics and used stickles on the bg dp I created and the hood. I painted the snowsuit with pink poinsettia blingz shimmerz.

Supplies:
stamps- hanna stamps Ski Bunny, everyday sentiments
CS- pink pirouette, cocoa, celery, white
accessories- grosgrain ribbon, rhinestones, snowflakes cb folder, corner rounder punch, scallop punch, stickles, circle punch

My second card is for both the color challenge and sketch challenges this week on SCS. Due to time, I combined the 2 challenges.

I colored the image with prismapencils and gamsol and a few copics. I used a small paint brush to create the ground and bg behind Santa. I used liquid applique on the trim of the hat and a white gel pen for accents.

Supplies:
stamps- high hopes fishing santa, best fishes
CS- not quite navy, white, Kaisercraft dp
accessories- prismapencils, gamsol, copics, liquid applique, brads, sewing machine

The last project/s I have to show you was for the ways to use it challenge this week. I created some simple ornaments to give as gifts.

I just stamped the snowflake, matted it and added sparkle stickers as an accent. The gold snowflake was embossed and the blue snowflake was sponged. I used stickers for the sparkle because glitter and similar products would not sandwich well between the glass. A tip for you- you can't use more than 3 layers of CS with the frames because they won't close- wonder how I know that LOL? They have a closure on the side of the frames.

Supplies:
stamps- Sweet N Sassy stamps snowflake set
CS- white, metallic gold, blue bayou
ink- blue bayou, soft sky, versamark
accessories- Ranger memory glass and frames, ribbon, stampendous sparkle stickers

Have a wonderful day and hope you are safe and warm. We are having a winter storm right now here and my family and I are staying in and are definitely not going anywhere soon. I certainly don't look forward to shoveling out that is for sure!

Blessings,
