Next month we are taking a trip to visit my daughter.. She lives in another state about 9.5 hours away.. I wanted to paint her a canvas. I went looking on Pinterest and found a painting I really like and it was a bird in the tree with this scripture.. I painted my canvas very much like what the photo showed.
First I took a Carolyn Dube inspirational word stencil and taped it down to the canvas. I took texture paste and a credit card and did a light layer. I removed the stencil and where I wanted the scripture to go I used the credit card to wipe away the paste. I set it aside to dry. I then used my Mission Gold water color paints and painted the blue background. I waited till it dried, then came in and free hand painted the tree leaving a space for the bird. I then added some leaves. When they were dry I added the bird. My daughter loves purple so I had to make this a purple bird. I used some white paint for the belly. I let it dry then came back and went over it again to lighten it more and more. I used white paint for the leaf and wing. I then used a black Sharpie and wrote in the scripture and went around the leaves, bird, beak and added the eye. Once all was dry I then took some more blue paint and softly went around the scripture area so soften it so there weren't sharp lines. I am very pleased with the way this came out. I did look at the Pinterest painting but I did hand draw this canvas. No tracing.. Thank you to who ever created the pinterest photo
This is a side view so you can see the words and texture the background has.
