Happy Freezin' Season!

Time for a winter holiday card.  Although I completed all my holiday cards and have them mailed I didn't get a chance to post all of my designs.  This card was created for the October Christmas card challenge.  October's challenge was to make a card for another winter holiday.  Not everyone celebrates Christmas so this challenge was the perfect opportunity to make a winter card and what could be more about winter than a snowman.

Supplies Used:
Stamps:  Snowman - Inkadinkadoo, Sentiment - Darcie's
Paper:  Whisper White, Baja Breeze, Real Red, Chocolate Chip
Ink:  Black, Baja Breeze, Real Red, Chocolate Chip, Smoky Slate, Pumpkin Pie
Accessories:  Snowflakes Embossing Folder, Scallop Border Punch, Rounded Tab Punch, Paper Piercing Tool, Chocolate Chip Corduroy Button Brad, Frost White Shimmer Mist, Dimensionals

Christmas Banner

The September 2014 Christmas card challenge was to incorporate the "chalkboard" technique on a card.  Instead of using black card stock I chose to use always artichoke card stock.  It is dark enough to get the chalkboard effect but is green in keeping with a traditional Christmas color.

Supplies Used:
Stamps:  Sidekick Sayings
Paper:  Whisper White, Always Artichoke, Certainly Celery, Silver Glimmer, Wintergreen DSP
Ink:  Craft White
Accessories:  White Embossing Powder, Various Star Punches, Banner Framelits Dies, Silver Cord, Silver Mini Brads, Dimensionals

Single Snowy Tree

The August 2014 Christmas card challenge was to include a torn paper edge in the card.  I knew that I would use whisper white card stock as my torn paper edge to represent snow drifts but I wanted to keep the card simple because I really don't want to have to pay extra postage when I mail my Christmas cards.  Once I had the tree embossed I added the snowflakes using white craft ink to create a soft snowfall effect.  The snowdrifts looked a little lackluster so I added some dazzling details to the torn edge to give it a little sparkle.

Supplies Used:
Stamps:  Warmth & Wonder, Festive Favorites
Paper:  Whisper White, Bashful Blue
Ink:  Bashful Blue, Versa Mark, Craft White
Accessories:  White Embossing Powder, Dazzling Details, Pearls, Dimensionals

Warm Winter Wishes

The July 2014 Christmas card challenge was to take an element(s) inspired by the 4th of July and incorporate it into a card.  I used red, white and blue and I also added a little bit of sparkle (inspired by sparklers and/or fireworks) by adding some rhinestones.

Supplies Used:
Stamps:  Bootiful Occasions
Paper:  Whisper White, Real Red, Baja Breeze, Not Quite Navy
Ink:  Black
Accessories:  Northern Flurry Embossing Folder, Sizzlit Large Delicate Doily, Oval Punch, Scallop Oval Punch, Circle Nestabilities Die, Paper Snips, White Gel Pen, Rhinestones, Dimensionals

Masculine Christmas Deer

The June 2014 Christmas card challenge was to create a manly card in honor of Father's Day.  I knew immediately that I wanted to create a card with this reindeer but I also wanted to incorporate the traditional Christmas colors of red and green.  I kept the layout very clean so that the die cut reindeer could stand out.

Supplies Used:
Stamps:  More Merry Messages
Paper:  Very Vanilla, Garden Green, Soft Suede, Merry Moments DSP
Ink:  Soft Suede, Versa Mark
Accessories:  Oval Nestabilities Dies, Reindeer Flight Die (Tim Holtz), Gold Embossing Powder, Red Rhinestones, Dimensionals

Snowy Season's Greetings

The May 2014 Christmas card challenge was to make a card that had snow on it.  It could be snowflakes, snowmen, snow covered trees, etc, as long as there was snow.  I opted for a single snowflake as my main focal point because I wanted to use the Winter Frost DSP and I thought the designer paper was to "busy" for lots of stamped images.

Supplies Used:
Stamps:  Warmth & Wonder, Four The Holidays
Paper:  Whisper White, Pool Party, Smoky Slate, Silver Glimmer, Winter Frost DSP Stack
Ink:  Pool Party, Smoky Slate, Illuminate
Accessories:  Snow Flurry Bigz Die, Two Tags Bigz Die, Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border Punch, Snowflake Punch, Rhinestone Brad, Rhinestones, Pool Party Seam Binding Ribbon, Mini Glue Dots, Dimensionals

Santa's Little Helper

The April 2014 Christmas card challenge was to use a "Toy or Toy Soldier" on a card.  I don't own any stamps with a toy soldier and I thought about using a stamp with packages to represent wrapped toys but I had this new stamp set from Verve that I really wanted to use.  This little reindeer kind of looks like he could be a stuffed toy so I decided to use him.  I had to stamp and color 8 of these little reindeer but the card turned out so cute I didn't mind a little "fussy" cutting.

Supplies Used:
Stamps:  Santa's Helper (Verve), Season of Joy
Paper:  Very Vanilla, Old Olive, Real Red, Merry Moments DSP
Ink:  Black, Real Red, Old Olive, Creamy Caramel, Smoky Slate
Accessories:  Square Lattice Embossing Folder, Real Red Satin Ribbon, Scallop Border Punch, Paper Piercing Tool, Rhinestones, Dimensionals

Christmas Quilt

This was the card I made for the March 2014 Christmas card challenge.  I actually made 8 of these cards.  The challenge was to "recycle, reuse or repurpose something" on the card.  I chose to use some red glimmer hearts that I had punched while making Valentine's Day cards.

Supplies Used:
Stamps: Holiday Frame Fun, Little Shapes
Paper:  Very Vanilla, Real Red, Creamy Caramel, Red Glimmer
Ink:  Creamy Caramel, Real Red
Accessories:  Heart from the Owl Builder Punch, Stamp-a-ma-jig, Tombow Adhesive

Christmas Star

This is my card for the February 2014 Christmas card challenge.  The challenge was to make a card using non-traditional colors so no red & green or blue & silver.  I knew I wanted to use this star image and the color yellow came to mind so I got to use some of my yoyo yellow card stock. Yeah!

Supplies Used:
Stamps:  Christmas Star, Magical Season
Paper:  Whisper White, Yoyo Yellow, Basic Gray
Ink:  Yoyo Yellow, Basic Gray
Accessories:  Frost White Shimmer Mist, Rhinestones

Peace on Earth

I haven't been very good at keeping up with my blog so far this year but I've had some health issues but now that I'm on the mend I hope to get back to blogging on a regular basis.

Because I kept up with the Christmas card challenges in 2013 I wasn't stressed out trying to complete the 100+ cards that I make each year.  So, I decided to keep things going and I will be participating in the 2014 Christmas card challenges.

The January 2014 Christmas card challenge was to create a card based on the idea of peace.  For this card, I pulled out an older set that was discontinued long ago.  The ornament and sentiment really go together well.

Supplies Used:
Stamps:  Peace on Earth (discontinued), Greetings of the Season
Paper:  Whisper White, Glorious Green
Ink:  Versa Mark, Glorious Green, Bashful Blue
Accessories:  Northern Flurry Embossing Folder, Gold Embossing Powder, Gold Cord, Mini Glue Dots, Dimensionals

Mini Hershey Bar Treats

I created these to give to my co-workers.   I made 10 of each character and incorporated elements from designs that I saw from various blogs.

Merry & Bright Rub-ons

The November 2013 Christmas card challenge was to create something using scraps or to use up something in your "forgotten stash".   I finally used some of the Christmas rub-ons that I've had for years and I combined the rub-ons with some DSP and card stock that was discontinued years ago.

Supplies Used:
Stamps: Delightful Decorations
Paper:  Whisper White, Ruby Red, Taken with Teal, Sahara Sand, Holiday Lounge DSP
Ink:  Ruby Red
Accessories:  Merry & Bright Rub-ons, Ornament Punch, 1 3/4" Circle Punch, Circle and Scallop Circle Nestabilities Dies, Dots Embossing Folder, Paper Piercing Tool, Rhinestones, Pearls, Chalk Marker, Dimensionals

Christmas Cocoa

This card was created for the October 2013 Christmas card challenge.  The challenge was to create a card using a "different" fold.  I had so many ideas for cards but I really didn't want to make 8 easel cards or 8 pop-up cards.  I wanted something that would be fairly quick to put together but still have some extra design element to it and this is what I came up with.

Supplies Used:
Stamps:  Scentsational Seasons, Four the Holidays
Paper:  Very Vanilla, Gumball Green, Be of Good Cheer DSP
Ink:  Gumball Green, Cherry Cobbler, Smoky Slate
Accessories:  Snowburst Embossing Folder, Holiday Collection Framelits, Rhinestones, Sticky Strip, Dimensionals

Christmas Snowmen

I finally finished my cards for the September 2013 Christmas Card Challenge.  I had 3 cards completed prior to the HYCCT Challenges and I finally finished the remaining cards.  I've had these snowmen rub-ons for over a year now the challenge was to have snow on the card so these images were perfect.  Each package of rub-ons contains 3 different snowmen images and I used all 3 packages of them to create 9 cards.  I think the Royal & Langnickel rub-ons are great and I like the touch of glitter in them.

Supplies Used:
Stamps: Cute Converse
Paper:  Whisper White, Real Red, Almost Amethyst, Darcie's Country Folk DSP
Ink:  Real Red
Accessories:  Royal & Langnickel Snowmen Holly & Hearts Glitter Rub-ons, Snowflake Embossing Folder, Northern Frost Decorative Strip, Snowflake Punch, Fleur De Lis Border Punch, Scallop Border Punch, 3/4" Circle Punch, Circle & Scallop Circle Nestabilities Dies, Rhinestones, Rhinestone Brads, 1/8" Real Red Taffeta Ribbon, Mini Glue Dots, Dimensionals

Christmas Subway Art

HYCCT1329 - (Subway) Art with Heart - Challenge:  Create a card inspired by Subway Art.  Subway Art is simply any art you see on the street that isn’t graffiti. Think bill boards, kiosk signs, the sides of busses etc.

No stamps were used for this card.  I used rub-ons from Word Flurries.

Paper:  Very Vanilla, Chocolate Chip
Accessories:  Word Flurries Rub-ons, Frost White Shimmer Mist
