Friends With Flair!

I finally, yes I mean finally inked up a Unity stamp this week! Woot! My collection of Unity Stamps keep multiplying, but I never seem to get the chance to use them! I keep making cards for specific people and telling myself I will have time later for a Unity card. Well this weekend I made the time and created a card using this adorable tree image called Carefree Moments Oak! A friend of mine Audrey was hosting a Tree, Leaf, or Shrub swap on SCS and I wanted to play along, so this is not only a 'Friends with Flair' creation but also a swap card! Woot!

For my card I wanted to make something simple in Kraft and Green and I think what I created did just that. I also really like this back ground paper, it is perfect for a tree card! Well I hope you like my creation for today! Have a great day and enjoy the rest of today's 'Friends with Flair' Unity posts!

Unity Blues

Each month Unity is issuing a challenge for a Guest Designer spot the following month. How exciting is that! This months challenge is to create a monochromatic card, and I went with blue, blue, and more blue! When I sat down and started thinking about which stamp to use for this challenge, I just had to use my favorite stamp from the Unity Kit of the Month for May...another sweet day! I really love this adorable bunch of flowers, isn't it just too cute! After I stamped the flowers in Pacific Point ink I wanted to shade the image, but I wasn't sure how. I eventually decided that some shimmerz would be perfect to complete this flower. I then ran the image through my cuttlebug and started digging through my decorative paper. It took a little while, but I found this fun blue paper to use with this main image. Of course no card is complete without at least one embellishment, and I started shifting through my ribbon stash to find this super yummy May Arts ribbon! In all it's shimmery goodness this ribbon just finished off my card. Hope you like this blue Unity card as much as I do! Have a great day! Enjoy!

Red, White, and Blue!

Yay! Okay, here is the post you were supposed to see this morning, I am finally home and able to post today's post!
Welcome to the last day of my Unity All Week Long! I have had so much fun this week sharing with you cards that I've created with my most recent Unity stamps. For today I am sharing with you a card I created in resp once to both of the wonderful challenges that Jeanne posted for Hip Hop! I love the weekly Hip Hop and the challenges are always a lot of fun to play along with. This weeks first challenge was to create a card using stars and the second challenge was to create a card with the sentiment as the main focus to the card, simple to combine! I pulled out my January Kit of the Month - Love Ect. for a great star image and my CONFESSION: i {luv} unity Scrapbooking kit! This sentiment, 'Free', is perfect for any Red, White and Blue card!

I also figured since this weekend was Memorial Day, this card would help celebrate the freedom that our fine Men and Women have maintained for us with their services. I created a simple one layer card, complete with some fun ribbon, and super wonderful stars! I hope you liked today's post, I love how this background came out! Oh, and we have a winner!

I randomly selected one winner from all of yesterdays posted comments, and the winner is:

jan farnworth said...
i love your flowers. this is one of my favorite stamps out of this kit that i have not inked yet i just got my kit yesterday but yellow is one of my fav colors anyway.

Congrats Jan! Please e-mail Eryn at Unity and let her know that I selected your name from the comments during my Week Long Unity posts! I hope you enjoyed today's post! Have a great weekend!

It's Hip Hop!

That's right boys and girls today is Thursday so today is all about the Hip Hop over at the Unity Forum on SCS, and you know you can't miss that! As with every Thursday, today includes a fabulous hop through the Unity Design Team members, stamp specials, challenges, and give-aways all day long! What more could anyone want for a fun filled day of Unity? Today I am sharing a card I created for my Grandma's birthday, her birthday was actually last week, but since she was coming to visit this week we are celebrating her birthday today! Today after work we are eating a nice dinner, cake, and of course presents! So when I was deciding which stamp to use for her birthday card I was instantly drawn to this wonderful Unity stamp from this months Unity Kit of the Month - ...another sweet day! I think this floral stamp is my favorite image that comes with this set, it is just so darn elegant! Plus, this card works perfectly with what I used to do while I visited my Grandma growing up. I used to spend hours upon hours on my Grandma's living room floor with a pair of scissors and construction paper, I think I've come a long way since then...but have I?Do you like the coloring details? I love how these flowers came out, I masked the first image after I stamped and duplicated the image. I used two shades of green on the leaves and two shades of yellow on the petals with my Copic markers and I think it really works well together. Plus the color combination of brown and yellow really pops off the page, I am hoping she likes what I created. And before I sign off for the day....be sure to leave a comment on this post to be entered to win a Unity single! That's right ladies, blog candy! Not any blog candy either, but Unity blog candy! I will select one winner to get a great Unity single, so be sure to comment! Have a great day everyone, enjoy the Hip Hopping!

More Unity Fun!

Today marks day three in my Unity All Week Long and I am thrilled that I can continue to share some Unity creations with all of you. Today I am sharing two cards that have shown up in the Unity gallery on SCS from me, but have never been posted to my blog and I doubt many people have seen either card. The first card was from Shannon's (Mrs.Mac) VSN challenge this past weekend on SCS. Her challenge was to create a card using food or drink as inspiration so I went the drink route! I have been eyeing this stamp set since it arrived on my door step and I was thrilled to find a challenge that would work well with these adorable drinks! Plus I love the bright colors that worked perfectly with the set and matching sentiment. For my second card I am sharing one of the cards I created about three weeks ago now for one of the Unity Anniversary challenges. Did you play along with the Anniversary challenges in the Unity forum? The whole week was a blast, unfortunately I only got the chance to complete one challenge for the week, but I had a blast none the less! This was the first card I created using my April Kit of the Month and I had a blast with it! The challenge was to create a card using the color combination of Kraft, So Saffron, Pacific Point, and Ruby Red. I know its a bit hard to see, but the leaves on the branch are actually So Saffron and I think it works. I love the soft look to this bird and the simplicity of this card was just wonderful. Hope you liked today's creations, be sure to check back to see what I have in store for tomorrow

Beach Days with Unity!

Welcome to day two of Unity All Week Long! Today I decided that I would share with you some more cards I made for this weekends VSN challenges over on SCS. On Sunday I had the chance to participate in another super fun VSN challenge. When I read the challenge description I instantly thought of my Unity stamp set Beach Days and Sun Rays! I create these cards for the first challenge of the weekend Double Down, where you had to make two of the same card. The hostess also listed a few things that one may think of when they think fun times, and my mind went directly to the Beach! So I pulled out my Beach Days and Sun Rays stamp set and got to making some fun monochromatic cards! I have been trying to find some ink time for this stamp set since it arrived on my doorstep since there are so many great images in this set, and I finally got the chance to ink it up! I really like how my little 'Beach Days' list turned out. I started by cutting the edges a little roughly then sponging the edges with Memento Rich Cocoa ink, followed by crumpling the paper itself to look so distraught. I also included a few things on my list with a nice copper gel pen, gives it a bit of a shine. Hope you liked today's creations! Be sure to stop by tomorrow for more Unity fun!

Unity All Week Long!

I am thrilled to share with you all that THIS week I am hosting Unity All Week Long here on my blog! That means EVERY day this week I will be sharing at least one Unity creation and I can't wait to get started! Plus, not only do I get to share with you all sorts of fun creations all week long, but I also just received my newest Unity Kit of the Month - ...another sweet day on Saturday as well as two new stamp sets Everyday Adorable and CONFESSION: i {luv} unity, so my cards will be using the newest sets! How wonderful is that! I am so excited to share with you my creations with these new sets, I mean could I have asked for better timing or what?! So lets get started! For my first card this week I wanted to use my Everyday Adorable stamp set! I love how these adorable images come with matching sentiments, makes for an easy and fun card. Not only did I create this card for my first post, but I also use the VSN challenge Hitting the Tables for a starting point. The challenge was to create a Black and Red card with White as the only Neutral tone, and I love how this card turned out! I stamped the cute flower image first then colored in all the little dots that create the flower but, then I ran it through my Cuttle Bug using my Curved Rectangle Dies. I love the look of these dies and they seem to really work with not only this color combination but also with these cute images! I hope you liked today's post, be sure to stop by tomorrow and see the rest of Unity All Week Long!

Unity KoTM Hop!

Today is the Unity Kit of the Month Blog Hop! All sorts of wonderful ladies have signed up and are posting great creations as we speak! The Hop started at the Unity Blog, where Angela kicked things off, if you haven't stopped by, please make sure to start the Hop at http://theunitystampco.blogspot.com/ ! It's going to be wonderful! For my card I used my July Kit of the Month - It's the Little Things and I love this stamp, in fact it's one of my favorite stamps from a KoTM. I normally go really cutesy with my Unity images and card, but a friend from work had asked me to make a birthday card for his mom, using a butterfly and earth tones. So, when I was laying out my posts for this week I instantly thought of using a Unity butterfly for my card, and this one I thought would be perfect!I hope you liked my card for today, I love the elegant feel to this card, plus I think it shows how versatile Unity stamps can be!

The next stop on the Unity Kit of the Month Hop is Sherry at http://workingandstamping.blogspot.com! I can't wait to see what the rest of the Hop holds!

Unity Lovin'

This week Unity Stamps celebrated their one year anniversary! All week long there was give aways, contests, challenges and all sorts of chatter! Not only was the week a wonderful celebration, but it was also May 1st which brought about a new Unity monthly challenge. Each month Unity will be posting a challenge on the first of the month and everyone will have until the evening of the second to create a card for that challenge using that month's Kit of the Month. Sounds simple enough, but what would one win you ask? A Guest Designer spot for the following month! How neat is that! So when I saw the sketch posted on Friday I took the time yesterday to create a card following the sketch. I had so much fun with this card! I used all bright colors and some really great stamps from the Kit of the Month for April that I had yet to ink up! After I completed the card for this sketch I decided that I really love it and it will be the card I give to my Mom for Mother's Day later this week, I can't wait till she sees it! Hope you like today's card, tomorrow is more Pretties time!

World Record INSPIRATIONAL Unity BLOG HOP

It is time for the World Record INSPIRATIONAL Unity BLOG HOP! I am so thrilled that I joined the Hop! Be sure to begin your view the of Inspirational Blog Hop by starting at theUnity Blog!
For my card today, I decided to use the newly arrived March Kit of the Month from Unity called Simple Life. This is my second creation with this Kit of the Month and I am loving everything that comes with this set. The images and the sentiments are just fabulous, as are all of the kits I have recevied from Unity. I really like the range of images, this one is of a topiary tree, and it is just too cute! Plus the sentiment I used today was 'Live Simply', a great thought to live by. Plus, I got the chance to use more of my yummy DCWV Latte DP, the colors of this paper and the pattern matches this image perfectly, plus a little bling never hurt anyone.

I have to share my favorite quote, and I had the hardest time finding one! I think my favorite quote would have to be: "Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have imagined." ~Henry David Thoreau

Now, make sure to continue hopping along on over to Lynn 's blog, Pieces of Me. I am sure that she has something wonderful to share with you, begin as she in a Unity Designer, I can't wait to see the rest of the hop!

Hip Hop Hangover!

I can not believe it is already Friday but I am loving it! Of course with it being Friday, I have some Unity to share with you! I once again played along with one of the challenges hosted by Jeanne in the Unity Forum on SCS. This week I ran out of time so did not post my card any where until just now, and I was only able to complete one card for one challenge, but I really like the results! Each week Jeanne hosts two challenges during Thursday’s Hip Hop and I love playing along if I can, this week was wonderful like all the other weeks. There was a color combination challenge and a theme challenge, while I didn’t get a chance to complete the Spring theme card, I did get to create a card for the color challenge! The color challenge was to use the colors purple, white and black! I went though all of my papers and the only decorative paper that seemed to work with this color combination is from my DCWV Latte DP, there is a bit of green, but this paper is not only super cute, but its also textured! I also received my March Kit of the Month two days ago and I got the chance to ink up two of the wonderful stamps that came as part of my kit. I love solid flower images, like the main image, and after stamping it and looking at the rest of the stamps that came with the kit I selected this adorable sentiment as my accent. I hope you enjoyed my Unity creation as part of the Hip Hop Hangover! Stay tuned this weekend for not only Paper Pretties April release news, but I am also taking part in the massive blog hop this weekend for Unity, and it is going to rock! Hope you have a great Friday; enjoy the beginning of this beautiful weekend!

Hip Hop Hangover!

It's Hip Hop Hangover time! I unfortunatly stayed home sick yesterday, and I still feel like crap, but I did get the chance to create a springy card last night, even though it was too late for the Unity challenges of the day. Each week on Thrusday Unity hosts Hip Hop though all of the Design team blogs and the SCS forum and it is always a blast! This week the two challenges were to create a card using Easter colors and to create a card using Ovals in some way, so I combined the two! Two challenges is better than one, right?! I had a lot of fun with this card, plus I finally got the chance to use my February Kit of the Month from Unity, called Endings and Beginnings. Aren't these stamps just too cute?! I love the Easter egg and the one word is just fab! Hope you like today's card, I had a lot of fun with this one. Have a great day!

Hip Hop Hangover!

I got to play along yesterday with the Unity Hip Hop Challenges and I was thrilled to be back! I haven't been part of a Hip Hop for the last couple of weeks, and this time was long over due. Since Valentine's Day is just around the corner I decided that the two challenges could be combined and a fun Valentine's Day card would be perfect! The two challenges for Hip Hop for yesterday were to create a card where the main image is tilted and the second challenge was to use gel pens, super simple! I got this January Kit of the Month and it's been sitting on my desk screaming to be inked, I was glad to answer the stamp sets call. Hope you like today's card, enjoy my Hip Hop Hangover!

Another Box in a Bag

I warned you that I was on a Box in a bag kick and here is more proof. This one I decided to create for a Secret Santa I had signed up for with Unity, so this was on of the things that my Secret Sister received. I picked cream, gold, and green for the color scheme with these cute stockings, aren't they adorable! I got this adorable little stocking a few weeks ago during one of Hip Hop Thursday specials, it was in a package and all the stamps are just wonderful! I love when Angela creates little bundles, not only do you get lots of great stamps but you get them for a great price, I mean who can resist!? Today I completed my Christmas shopping, okay you caught me, I didn't really, but my Mom picked up the last thing I needed so I am all done. Hope you are as lucky! Have a great day and happy holidays!

Hip Hop Hangover!

Once again it is Friday and time for Hip Hop Hangover! Another wonderful Thursday at the Unity Forum has come and gone and I once again had a blast chatting and creating. This week Jeanne had two more wonderful challenges to try out that I was able to play along with. The first challenge was to create a two layer card (one layer is the main image) with a Christmas theme. So what I did to begin was go through my Unity stamps and see what my options were, I ended up picking this cute tree stamp call Trinity Trio and I just love how it worked out. I tore the edge of the paper and added a little color to it, plus I stamped the same image on the base of the card and finished it off with some metallic ribbon and a spica glitter pen.

The second challenge of the day was to create a card with bling or baubles so I decided to use one of the stamps I got from my last order. This image comes from the set called Delectable Delights and it features some sweet treats! I thought this image would be a lot of fun to try out, I colored it in to look like different flavors of ice cream and then layered it on some scalloped circle punched. I love the cream and dark brown combination and I think it worked well with the pink addition. I added some bling in the four corners and used a spica glitter clear pen to make the entire ice cream cone shine. Hope you have a great Hip Hop Hangover! Have a great day!

Hip Hop Hangover

Its time for another Hip Hop Hangover! Every Thursday Unity hosts Hip Hop where there are all sorts of prizes, stamp specials, a blog hop and two challenges. I had to much fun yesterday chatting with the ladies in the members forum on SCS and I got the chance to create two cards for the Hip Hop card challenges. The first challenge that Jeanne issued was to create a card using a sentiment as the focus of the card, I decided to use the Act Like Royalty stamp as my main focus. Then to spice it up I used hot pink and black plus this fun Rock Star DP, and of course what card would be complete without bling and primas! The second card challenge was to create a card with gold on it, in anyway. Now I'm not really a gold person, I am really more of a silver person then anything else, but I do have some gold supplies. I dug out my Rock Star DP again to use the paper in my background plus I pulled out my gold embossing powder. I really like the Growing in Unity stamp set and the main tree from the set I thought would be perfectly beautiful in gold. So I assembled a card and even added some lovely large gold brads to finish it all off. Hope you enjoyed today's Hip Hop Hangover, and if you have never been to a Unity Hip Hop you really should stop by, its hours of fun! Have a great day!

Unity Addicts Challenge

Now normally the Unity Addicts challenge falls on a Wednesday but with Thanksgiving being on Thursday this week the challenges and Hip Hop have been changed. So today the Unity Addict Challenge was posted and the challenge was to create a 'Thank You' card using Red and White, so I decided to join in on all the fun! I went through all my Unity Stamps and decided to use one of the stamp sets I have yet to ink up, so today its all about Floral Fantastical, which I love! The whimsical flow of the images are just great in this set, and I took advantage of three of the many stamps included in this set. I sorted through all of my red copic markers and decided to pick three shades that I thought would compliment the card stock and the images themselves. Hope you like today's creation, I had a lot of fun joining in on today's challenge!

Hip Hop Hangover

Yesterday was Thrursday, so you know what that means! Unity hosted Hip Hop Thursday and of course there were two great challenges issued by Jeanne for us to play along with. The first challenge was to create a square card so I decided to use my new November Kit of the Month set that recently arrived in the mail. So far I am loving this set, it has so many cute parts to it, I mean whats not to love! The second challenge was to create a card with snow on it, so I decided to use the holiday bundle I purchased from Unity a few weeks ago, and I just love this little stamp! Its called Sleigh Ride and it is of so cute! I think from all the stamps that arrived in the bundle this is my favorite, but they really are all great! Hope you liked my Hip Hop Hangover post, I know that these challenges are a lot of fun for me, so if you have yet to play along what are you waiting for! Hip Hop happens every week at Unity and in the SCS Unity Members Forum, beginning at 10am CST and ending at Midnight, you'll love it!

Shake Your Tail Feathers

This week I got the chance to play along with the Wednesday Challenge in the Unity Forum and I had a blast! I really do enjoy card challenges, they make me think of new things to do, plus if its a company sponsored one I use more of my stamps! So when this challenge to create a child's card using Primary colors was posted I jumped right on board! I pulled out my Hey Chick stamp set and got to work coloring these adorable little birds! It was the first time I got the chance to ink up this set and I am loving the results, I will definitely be using this stamp set again soon, its just so cute! I also love to use this type of bow, you start off making a bow as you would normally, but instead of cutting the ribbon even on both sides, you adhere the bow to the card and run the other leg of the bow to the end of your paper. I've tried this technique a few times and I just love the results, no I did not see this some where, just did it one day. Well I hope you like today's shared creation. Hope you all have a great weekend, I'm off to watch my brother's football game...Go Vikings!

Hip Hop Hangover!

Yesterday was Unity's Hip Hop Thursday and as every week has been so far, I had a blast chatting with some wonderful ladies and gentlemen in the SCS Unity member forum. Of course there were two wonderful card challenges, I was only able to complete one of the issued challenges but I had a lot of fun! The challenge I completed was to make a card about something sweet, so I thought the stamp 'so & so loves' would be perfect to use! This stamp just came in the mail earlier this week and I love it. Hope you like today's post as well, be sure to stop by later to see another wonderful Paper Pretties Sneak Peak!
