First Birthday Card For 2016 !

Hi there dear blogging friends, it's been such a long time since I posted anything here.  Life just got very busy and complicated since my last post in November 2015 and during the past couple of months I found it difficult to find the time to craft let alone keep my Blog up to date.  I do thank you all for still visiting and apologise for the fact that there was nothing new for you to see !

Now we are into a new year and my Dad is getting back to good health, I'm hoping to post on here a little more often and more regularly.

I have managed to do a little crafting recently and have some new projects to share with you. Today I have the first Birthday card I made at the start of the year to share with you.

As I was looking through my stamp stash whilst making Christmas cards I found this lovely Lili of the Valley handbags stamp which hadn't been inked yet, perfect to use for my project.

The image was stamped using Versafine black ink onto Crafters Companion watercolour card and coloured with Spectrum Aqua Pens and a water brush.  I added clear Wink of Stella pen over parts of the image and also touches of Startdust Stickles to give it a bit of bling.

The sentiment is from the SU! Endless Birthday Wishes stamp set, stamped using SU! Raspberry Ripple ink, I also dragged the ink around the edges of the sentiment layer before attaching to the card.  With the sentiment stamp lightly inked, I gently touched parts of the stamp around the edges of the main image layer to create the impression of a frame.

Starting with a 6x6 base card I cut away part of the front to create a slightly different shaped card.  I used some magazine freebie papers for the background on the front and more inside, attached the image layer onto a scrap of SU! colours cardstock before placing onto the front, with part of it overhanging the cut away edge.

My pal loved the card and I hope you've enjoyed seeing it today too.

Thanks for dropping by to check out what I've been creating, I do hope to see you here again soon.

Nautical but Nice

Happy new week friends, I hope you had a great weekend.  On Saturday I went to the Cornwall Craft Show at the Lanhydrock Hotel near Bodmin.  It was a small show with just a handful of stalls but they were packed with lots of great stash and I came away with a few things I never knew I needed LOL.

Today I have a card to share with you.  A while back I bought a set of stamps by Elines - set number ECO144 - and the 'Beach House' Paper Bloc to go with it.

This is the card I made using the papers and stamps

and a close up shot

a close up of the fishes

Tools and materials used on the card:

  • Elines ECO144 stamp set - stamps used on card: ship, shell, fish, anchor, faux stitching, compass, label, stencilled letters
  • Elines 'Beach House' Paper Bloc - pieces used from various sheets in the pack
  • Spectrum Aqua Pens
  • Clear Wink of Stella Pen
  • Hickory Smoke Distress Ink
  • Crafters' Companion Watercolour Card
  • Glossy Accents
  • Kraft basecard
The shells were created by stamping the shell image onto watercolour card then cut out.  Coloured with Aqua pen then a layer of Wink of Stella clear ink added.  They were then spritzed on the back with clean water and using a couple of sizes of ball tool and a foam pad, shaped from the back.

I stamped the fish a few times, coloured with Aquas then Wink of Stella added over the top.  After cutting each one out I attached them to the piece of twine then applied Glossy Accents to each one.

I hope you've enjoyed today's project, thanks for dropping by.  Happy Crafting !

Getting All Cute and Girly

Welcome to Wednesday here in my little piece of Blogland, I appreciate each and every one of you lovely visitors, followers and anyone who happens to drop in for the first time, either accidentally or following a link from somewhere !  I hope you find something to delight or inspire you.

I haven't made a lot of cutesy cards for some time, but today I thought I'd share one of the few with you.  The image was the first one I coloured with my recently acquired Spectrum Aqua pens.  I'm still learning how to get the most from them and the best way - for me - to produce colouring I'm totally happy with ( I know I'm my own harshest critic !)

Anyway, here's how I used the coloured image to create a card

List of supplies I used:

* 6 x 6 base card
* Penny Black stamp
* Spellbinders Nestabilities dies
* SU! cardstock - for layering - and sentiment
* Spectrum Aqua Watercolour Pens
* Glossy Accents (on flowers and dress ribbon)
*  Ribbon

I hope you've enjoyed seeing today's project, leave me a comment if you have the time, I love to hear everyone's thoughts on my work.

As it's Wednesday, I thought I'd also share a What's on Your Work Desk Wednesday (WOYWDW) pic

the easy vacation knitting project is all that's in my crafty workspace today.

Have a great day whatever you have planned.

Birthday Beach Huts

Happy Bank Holiday Saturday - for all those in the UK - I hope the sun is shining where you are today, it's a beautiful day here in my little part of Cornwall. Fingers crossed that we have some nice weather over the weekend.

Today I have a card to share with you which is very 'of the moment' for a summer holiday weekend as many lucky people will be spending time on the coasts and beaches of the UK.

Here's a list of tools and supplies I used to create my card:

C6 scallop edge base card
Beach Hut stamp from the Chocolate Baroque 'Seaside Dreams' plate
Black Versafine ink
Spectrum Aqua watercolour pens and waterbrush to colour image
Crafters' Companion Watercolour Card
SU! sentiment banner stamp and cardstock scrap for layering

This is the first time I've used my new Aqua pens to colour and I'm still learning !

I hope you've enjoyed seeing today's project, thanks for visiting.

Have a great weekend.
