Birthday Birdies

Good morning folks, wishing you a wonderful day.  I've a card to share with you today, its the one I made for my youngest grandson Charlie who celebrated his 11th birthday a few weeks ago.

I thought I should offer a little explanation for my choice of design for his card.  Some time ago there was a small incident and after that for a while he was known affectionately as 'Charlie the Chicken Poker' Ha Ha

I used stamps from the JOFY 15 stamp set to create the scene - I just love these cute birds - and words from the JOFY 11 set to create a sentiment.  Each of the leaves were stamped and coloured using Spectrum Aqua pens before fussy cutting out and attaching to the tree branches.  The birdhouse and all the birds were stamped, coloured and cut out the same way before assembling the whole scene.

I'm told that Charlie was very pleased with his card, said it was "very funny" !  Result..... Grandma strikes again ;0)

Today is my lovely sister-in-law's birthday, Happy Birthday Celia have a fabulous day.

Thanks for popping by to check today's project, hope you enjoyed it.

Not a Christmas Card !

Happy Christmas Eve eve my friends, I hope you're almost ready for the Big Day.  I'm just about done, will be cooking my ham and making soup later today and this evening I have lovely pals coming round for a little crafting and relaxing.

I thought you might be a bit sick of seeing Christmas cards, so today I'm sharing a birthday card I made for my nephew who celebrates his birthday very close to Christmas.

I created a background using Brusho paints then overstamped using stamps by Ryn.  After stamping I added small highlights using a white gel pen then Glossy Accents over each droplet.

Here's a close up shot

Using a Sizzix die I cut out the man with brolly from black cardstock and attached over the background, then added this layer over a slightly larger piece of black cardstock.  Finally attaching it to the left of centre on the base card, leaving room to stamp the sentiment down the right hand side.

I added the sentiment using a set of PaperArtsy JOFY stamps - this set of words is so versatile, great for many different occasions depending on which ones you use.

Thanks for taking the time to visit today, I hope you have a great day whatever you have planned.

Designer Paper and a Fabby Stamp

Good morning Folks, it's almost the weekend, got any exciting plans ?  I'll bet you are like me and will be fitting in at least a little crafting time.  I'm beavering away at making Christmas cards in every spare moment and today's project is - you've guessed it - a small batch of cards.

... and here's a close up shot of one of the cards

Whilst visiting my pal Kathy for a crafting weekend last week, she allowed me to stamp up some images from her newly-acquired JOFY gift box stamp.  Whilst not specifically a Christmas image, coloured in festive shades, it looks great on a Christmas design.  It was lovely to just sit and colour these images whilst chatting with my pal.

Once home, I decided to use the images after fussy cutting them out, to make a small batch of Christmas cards.  This week's theme on the Simply Less is More Challenge Blog is to 'use Designer Paper in a CAS way' so I'm going to submit this batch of cards as my second entry this week.

The image was coloured with ProMarkers and the Designer Paper is from SU!  I used a corner rounder on the one edge.  The sentiment is from Clarity Stamps and is stamped using SU! Cherry Cobbler ink.

That's it from me today, I'm busy, busy, busy getting my festive preparations underway - cardmaking, sewing, gift buying, food planning etc.  Have a great day whatever you have planned.
