Karen Burniston Designer Challenge - September Part 2

Hi Crafters
I am back today with the second part of the September Designer Challenge and this time it was me that could choose the theme and I chose  "INSPIRED BY"  with so much inspiration on the Designer Challenge Team you can not fail to look a others cards and think WOW  So I have chosen a few part of inspiration for my card this week.  It was hard to stop at just these parts.

Firstly I chose what type of card I wanted to make and I was INSPIRED by Karen Burnistons Tutorial for the STAGGERED ACCORDION card.  HERE is her post.

And here is my card

As you can see I used a Halloween theme with this card

I was also Inspired by Kelly Booths Owl on one of her creations
HERE hers it  I love the way she styled it by cutting from
the paper she did and sponging around the edges
just gave it a ghostly glowing feel.

I was also inspired by Sandy's Fabulous clock creation, and although
I have not done it the same it certainly was the inspiration to use the clock again.

And lastly but not least I love the "Hills have eyes" on
Karen Aikens card

Righto, here is a round up of what I used on this card :

All Karen Burniston Dies

Midnight the Bat
Poppy the Owl
Clock & Gears Set
Halloween Scene
Props 9 set
Fancy Label Accordion
Halloween Charms Set

As usual items from Crafts U Love
or Elizabeth Craft Designs.

I challenge YOU to have a go at this staggered Accordion.  It was a fun new way to use
your Accordion dies and was not hard either, just follow Karen's Youtube and you
will be all set.

Until next time.... and remember check out all my follow DT members on the LEFT
and Karen Burniston will be posting her INSPIRED BY on Tuesday.

Karen Burniston Designer Challenge August part 2

Hello!

I am back with day two of the Karen Burniston Designer Challenge for August and here is my second Inspired Creation.

Here is are the amazing cards I was inspired by.  Both by Shelly Hickox and both marvellous creations that really got my brain ticking :)

I LOVED the Steampunked Poppy the Owl and I wanted to use that.

But I also loved Shelly's amazing Tunnel card that she made using the Accordion Die.
So I set about making a card using both these elements.

Shelly has a full tutorial for the Tunnel card HERE

Here you can see some of how the tunnel card looks, mine does not open up as much as I glued the "you are awesome" inside and it means it doesn't open as much but still
has some depth.

Here is the front of my Tunnel card.  I used the Rectangle Accordion, Gears and clock from the clock set and Poppy the Owl.  Its not as grungy as Shelly's masterpieces, but that is pure Shelly style, she does that so well. Mine is a bit more sedated Steampunk but I must say I was impressed when Caiden saw my card he exclaimed he liked my "Steampunk Owl".

Rectangle Accordion, Poppy and the Clock can be purchased from Crafts U Love

Please take time to look around the blogs listed top left they are the awesome ladies
in the Karen Burniston Designer Challenge Team.

Karen Burniston Designer Challenge - August - Inspired Creations

I LOVE THIS MONTHS CHALLENGE!

This months challenge is : Inspired Creations - we've all been blown away by each others work month after month and here's your chance to show a fellow teammate how much they've inspired you. Pick any project from any Designer Challenge going back to the beginning and use it as inspiration for a new card. You could be inspired by a technique, a color scheme, a combination of dies - anything.

Being this this Design Team is one of the most inspiring ones I know and I know that I look at my fellow teamies work in awe and admiration for the work they do.  The biggest challenge here was to choose what I would use for my inspiration and to be honest I think I am challenging myself extra to try and continue this challenge through out the year as there is nothing wrong with using someones talents to kick start your mojo or just give an idea.

First up I have chosen Helen Cryer's amazing Accordion and Tag combo card.  She has used the most amazing colours and Buster the Dog, Whiskers the cat for hers.  I chose the die combo to showcase this amazing mix but styled it in my own way using some of the new Farm 2 Collection.

This is Helen's amazing card :)

I love every thing about this!  You can see Helen's original post HERE

So for the front of the card you can see that I have used Cocoa the Horse
onto the Oval Accordion which has been used as a stand alone panel and not as an accordion.  I have decorated with the Hay from Hey there and the Fence and cloud edgers too.  I was a bit miffed that i messed up the colours and I got blue background which made the clouds blue  (opps)  but i'd already gone too far in to worry to change it :)

For the centre I have used the Tag Pivot and decorated that with the Tag pivot decorative dies
and again the Hey there set as well.

For the last panel I have more or less used the same as the first panel, but this time decorated
it will William the Goat.

I really enjoyed making this card.  And I must remember to use this combo more often.
This just proves that the Karen Burniston Pivot Dies and Accordion dies can work
so well together.

I will be back tomorrow with another card that I was inspired to make.

Crafts U Love have these dies in stock NOW and for now and I am not sure how
long the Newest arrivals from Karen Burniston are at a
fabulous Introductory price.

My first cards of 2014

I really am going to try to blog more and share more cards with you.  It looks like I made almost no cards last year but in truth I made a lot more but it seems easier to just pop them on my facebook account and it takes time to save and share on here but I am going to try and do that.
So in a start on trying to share more here are a few cards I have made lately.

This Penny Black card was made for Crafts U Love for their weekly Create and Take.  Now at work we are mega mega busy and didn't have time to make a card at work so I said I would make it this week but it had to be sometime I could make easy and in my style so of course I had to use Penny Black.  You can get full details of what I used on their blog.  www.craftsulove.blogspot.co.uk

Here I have used the same kitty on a bag that I made using the
We R Memory Keeper Gift Bag Punch Board

Next are a couple of Accordion cards that I made for birthdays, The first up is
the card I made for my niece Danielle who was 19.

I used the Cottage Cutz Mr Snuggle bear for the main image.
I love this bear as his arms are separate so you can post him holding
anything

Another accordion card, this one is for one
of my boys friends birthdays.

On this one the main images are from http://www.purpleoniondesigns.com/

The amazing accordion die is from Karen Burniston
This one is from her Sizzix line.  She has 3 more amazing accordion
designs coming out in a couple short weeks.  Crafts U Love will be
putting pre orders on their website soon for any pre orders.

That's all I have to share right now.  I am eagerly waiting my Designer Challenge
dies so I can get playing with the Karen Burniston/Elizabeth Craft Designs and I can't wait to share with you all what I make :)
