Wedding Card in Card Creations Vol. 11

Today I have a card that I made back in October but can finally share here, as it was recently published in Card Creations Volume 11.

Wedding Congratulations
Stamps (Hero Arts) - Lace Background & Warmest Wedding Wishes

Besides playing with paper I just love playing with fabric so, whenever I can, I enjoy combining both on a project. On this wedding card I tried to achieve a pretty, romantic look, so started by making the satin and organza flower which dictated my colour scheme and then I just went to town on the card with embossing, lace and pearls.

Card Creations Volume 11
is such a big magazine packed full of wonderful cards and ideas. I love the way it’s divided into sections for every imaginable occasion and I know I’ll be dipping into it again and again for inspiration.

We’re enjoying an extra long weekend this weekend with a bank holiday on Monday. This morning I can see blue skies and am hoping the weather forecasters are wrong with their predication of showers for St Patrick’s Day. Hope you have a wonderful weekend wherever you are!

Fizzy Congratulations

For a while I've wanted to make a wedding card which brings in the tradition of tying tins to the wedding car.

I remember having a few sips of coca cola as a kid and really disliking it, with the result that to this day I've never touched it again. But everyone else in the house likes it and I have to say I do like the coca cola cans, lol! Anyway for this card I printed off some tiny images of the cans, applied Glossy Accents and tied them to the wedding car with thread. The sentiment was embossed and I just did a slight bit of colouring on the car.

Stamps (Hero Arts) - Going & Every Day Saying

To personalise the card I printed off initials, stamped the registration plate around them and cut the plate out to adhere to the car. The initials I used are my hubby's and mine. I can't believe we'll be married 18 years this year! So the saying is true, time flies by when you're having fun!

I'm submitting this card into the Stamp It! Cards Congratulations Challenge in the Moxie Fab World.

Glittering Wedding Wishes

My last wedding card was in muted colours so this time I wanted to use bolder colours and try to keep the card plain and simple.

Glittery Wedding Wishes
Stamps (Hero Arts) - Heart Winged Butterfly & Warmest Wedding Wishes

I love using the Heart Winged Butterfly on wedding cards and started by white embossing the butterflies on vellum.

Glittering Wedding Wishes Close-Up

To emphasise the hearts on the image I embossed the image again, cut out some of the hearts and covered them (and myself!) with a layer of red glitter. The sentiment was also embossed in white and I just added some machine stitching to finish.

Wedding Card

I’ve been really busy with a few things recently and it feels like forever since I posted anything! This month part of the challenge on the Hero Arts blog is to make something to do with weddings. So I decided to make a wedding card.

Wedding card
Stamps (Hero Arts) – Warmest Wedding Wishes & Lace Background

On the upper part of the background I embossed the Lace Background in white on ivory pearlescent card. The sentiment is embossed in gold. For the flower I wanted to use items that could possibly make up a wedding dress – taffeta, tulle and pearls.

Wedding Card Flower

To make the flower, I cut six varying sized circles out of taffeta and another six of out tulle. I wanted a bit of frayed look on the flower, so even though I ironed the fabric before cutting out the circles, I ended up scruching them up and rolling them around between my hands to get a more distressed look. After stacking the circles, I stitched them together with a couple of stitches in the middle and added some pearls. The ribbon is recycled off a box of chocolates (the things I eat for craft supplies, lol) and I added some Lace Ribbon from Hero Arts.

I really enjoyed making the card, and the excuse to play with fabric, now all I need is a wedding to go to! Hope you are all having a wonderful weekend!

Congratulations Jenny and Jason!

Today it’s Jenny and Jason’s wedding day! Jenny is one of our wonderful, bubbly hostesses in the Hero Arts Flick group and Tami has organised a surprise virtual wedding card shower for the happy couple.

Tami had suggested using a something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue theme. So I tried to incorporate all of these into the card in some way.

Congratulations Jenny and Jason!
Stamps - Heart Winged Butterfly & Fabulous Flourish (Hero Arts), Congratulations (Docrafts)

Old – Congratulations stamp
New – Fabulous Flourish stamp
Borrowed – the smaller pearls on the butterflies are borrowed off a top!
Blue – broken china distress ink

To start with I embossed the flourish and sentiment in white on watercolour paper, applied broken china distress ink and spritzed lightly with water. I white embossed the butterflies on vellum and embossed parts of the wings again using an embossing pen and stardust embossing powder. Then I added pearls to the bodies. The little heart pearls from Hero Arts are one of my favourite embellishments so I just had to add them beside the sentiment!

Congratulations Jenny and Jason!

Jenny and Jason, congratulations on your wedding day! Wishing you all of the very best as you look forward to a lifetime of love, laughter and happiness together!
