Color Throwdown Challenge #325

Hello everyone....hope all is well with you!!! We had my parents 70th wedding anniversary party on Sunday....it was sooo wonderful to have my family all together along with lots of friends to celebrate!!! My sistar and her family came from Iowa....they will be going home to the frozen north this afternoon. They sure would like to stay for a while especially since our temps are up in the 50's...it's a heat wave...LOL!!!!  Anyway....

It's Wednesday and time for this weeks Color Throwdown Challenge!! Tammy is our hostess and she has picked a real pretty color pallette for us to play with!!

My card features several Reverse Confetti stamp and die sets along with the January RC SFYTT #20. The sentiments which were stamped with Memento Gray Flannel are from Lots to Say and Fabulous Flamingo. The flowers are from the Petals 'n Posies set and they were stamped with Memento Tangelo...the leaves were stamped with Pool Party.

The dies include Doin' the Wave Confetti Cuts, Tag Me, Too, and the Petals and Posies coordinating dies. The banner was hand cut and the enamel dots and Baker's Twine finish it off.

Remember, you don't have to use the exact colors.....use what you have as long as they are close to the challenge colors and be sure to add CTD325 to the keywords section when you upload your cards to an online gallery so we can find your creations!!

You will find all the challenge details on the Color Throwdown Blog.

The Grands at Work!

Good morning everyone....we had another wild day yesterday!! We will have three Grands with us for a few days....Mackenzie wanted to spend some time with her cousins. After going to the movie to see Transformers, we went to see Grandma and Grandpa Great. Then after supper we all piled into the craft room.....they all had fun making cards for Grandpa, Aunt Laura, and cousin CJ's birthdays. Hopefully, I can figure out which stamps go together and get all the sets put back together...LOL!!

Mackenzie (11) made this card for Aunt Laura (Autumn and Cole's Mom)

Mackenzie made this card for me....

Cole (7) designed this card for Grandpa's birthday....

Grandpa is going to love this!!

Autumn (13) was busy creating another page.....

The little swimmer in front is Cole and the two little guys in the back are Cole on the right and Cody (Mackenzie's brother) on the left. Toooo fun!!!

Tomorrow we are going swimming and then shopping for school supplies....can you believe school starts in a few weeks...yikes!!!

Thanks for stopping by...have a great day!!!

Happy Sunday!!

Good morning everyone....I am kinda shell shocked this morning!! I met my friend, Bev (TexasGrammy), in Salado yesterday...it's a little village about 12 miles south and it's full of shops, antiques, and the best little stamp shop ever!! We shopped for a few hours and then went back to my house....we fed the horses, went out to eat, and then stamped till 3AM...yikes!!! Bev made a card called Best Friends for one of the Cling to Hope challenges on Splitcoast for Breast Cancer
awareness (the brown challenge by Lori Craig) and I thought I was making a CAS card for the pink challenge by Lydia Fiedler but I failed to read all the criteria. It was supposed to be pink and for a holiday of some kind. I hardly think making a wish is much of a holiday!!! That's what happens when I stay up too late and my brain cells stop functioning...LOL!! Anyway...I'll share it here with you and make another one for the challenge.

The silhouette from Flourishes Kids at Play set was stamped with Black Onyx Versafine and embossed with clear ep. The frame was made around the image and sentiment with a Labels 12 Nestabilities...the pearls in the corners are the only embellishment. This is pretty simple but very CAS!!

Edit: Betty Wright (gbedwright) suggested I enter this in the Flourishes World Card Making Day challenge since it's not an A2 size and it's pink....thanks Betty!!!
Sweet Bev is making friends with Midnight....

The girls have been a little cranky because we made them wear fly masks....they can see through the mesh but the flys can't attack their eyes. They will pout for a few days before they get used to the masks.
Thanks for stopping by this morning...have a great Sunday!!!

Birds, Cupcakes, and a Sundance Update

Hello everyone!!! Hope all is going well with you!!! We are still busy working on my son's house and taking care of the horses in the evenings. It has been in the 100+ degrees for several days but according to the news we are to have a cold spell at the end of the week...temps in the 90's...LOL!!! Well, it's better than 106!!! Anyway....on with the show!!

It took me 2 days to finish this card...it's for the Sketch challenge on Splitcoast and the Color Challenge on Splitcoast to use Rich Razzleberry, Pacific Point, and Old Olive....yikes!!! What a combo!!! I kinda struggled with the colors because they were so bold but after two days and lots of trial and error, it finally came together!! I used the adorable There She Goes stamp set called Birdie Wishes...used the snowflake embossing folder on the background and the paper ric rac, and popped the little blue bird just for fun!!!
Recipe:
Stamps: Birdie Wishes form TSG
Paper: White, Rich Razzleberry, Old Olive, Pacific Point
Ink: same as paper plus Basshful Blue, Barely Banana
Accessories: Silver pearls, Ric Rac die, Snowflakes embossing folder, Nestabilities, Round Circle Punch

This is the card I made for the Featured Stamper Challenge on Splitcoast to honor Heather (princessheather). I was really excited to see Heather as Featured Stamper...she is such an awesome stamper!!! Heather's gallery is sooo fabulous...I spent quite a while there looking at all her beautiful cards. I finally decided to case her CAS22 Happy Birthday Cupcakes card. I kept the same cupcake theme, piercing, colors, and pearls but changed the stamps to Rubbernecker's Party Time, changed the embossed background, and added a bow with a button.
Recipe:
Stamps: Rubbernecker Party Time
Paper: Vanilla, Pink Pirouette
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Accessories: Copics, Ribbon, Vutton, Floss, Stickles, Pearls, Cuttlebug, Embossed Frame Folder

Sundance Update

A couple of months ago we adopted another rescue horse named Sundance...she is a Morgan with such a sweet disposition. She looked pretty pitiful when we got her but as of today she has gained about 100 lbs and is doing great!!!
We take them over the fence to our daughter Holly's back yard to graze a little in the evenings. Since we have cows and donkeys sharing our pasture, our grass is not as plush. How would you like to mow a back yard like that??? Yikes!!
Midnight and Sundance love my husband George....they follow him around like little puppies and this is what it is like when he gets in the truck to leave....too funny!!!

They are saying goodby....
Thanks for dropping by today....hope you have a great day!!!

Masculine and Feminine

Hello everyone....we rented Invictus and watched it last night and boy was it good, especially Matt Damon...he is sooo easy to look at!!! I spent most of the weekend making my swap cards...40 packets for the North Texas Swap my DD Holly and I are going to next weekend. I love going to swaps and meeting such wonderful stampers but the prep work can be a little overwhelming!! Maybe if I didn't wait till the last minute.....oh well!!! Anyway, on with the show!!

I have several Father's Day cards to make this week so I'm starting out with a double challenge. The TLC challenge this week is to make the card personal and to use your favorite technique. My father was in the Navy and he loves cards that have water or ship themes. This sentiment and light house image from Flourishes A Guiding Light set from Stampers Dream was just perfect for his Father's Day card. My favorite technique is distressing so I roughed up all the edges. This is also for the CAS challenge to use a quote, saying, or verse as the main image.
I made this card yesterday for the Featured Stamper Challenge on Splitcoast. Nikki (Nikkischmaltz) was chosen as the Featured Stamper this week...this is the first time I have been to Nikki's gallery and it's sooo AWESOME!!! I chose to case the beautiful Think Pink card. I kept the same basic layout, the color pink, and the pearl flourishes but changed the main image from a circle to oblong, changed the stamps to Clear Dollar Stamps Scripture Children set, changed the designer paper and added the lace and flowers.
Recipe:
Stamps: Clear Dollar Stamps Scripture Children
Paper: Pink Pirouette, Chocolate Chip, Basic Grey's Bittersweet dp
Ink: Memento Rich Cocoa
Accessories: Gathered Stampin Up! Ribbon, Pink Satin Flowers, Gold Cording, Leaves, Lace, Pink Pearl Flourishes, Martha Stewart Scalloped Border Punch, Nestabilieties, Foam Tap

I planted 2 tomato plants this year and we were sooo excited to see a red one clear at the bottom of the plant. I had to laugh when we picked it cause it's just a little deformed...it looks more like a red pepper!!!
I'll let you know if it tastes ok.....

This is a picture of my DGD Mackenzie at her awards program last week....she had a great 4th grade and can't wait to be a 5th grader!!

Mackenzie sang Jesus at the Wheel at her talent show last Thursday....she did a FABULOUS job!!! She has the sweetest voice and sounds like an angel!!!
Matthew was at the talent show, too, and danced with Grandma at the end when all the teachers boogied on the stage...I just love to see kids and teachers having fun!!!

Thanks for stopping by today...I better get supper over with quick cause the Bachelorette is on tonight...I just love girl power...Whoohoo!!!

Love Birds and Celebrations!!

Good morning everyone.....It's getting warm here in Texas!!! We have been in the 90's this week and they expect us to reach 100 by Sunday...yikes!!! What's a girl to do but stay in the house and stamp!!! I made this card for the color challenge on Stamp TV. This was Carla's first color challenge and she chose brown, green, and vanilla. I used Basic Grey's Cappella dp on the background and the images were from Nina's Elegant Post set. Mellow Moss was sponges around the birdcage and the top of the birdcage was colored with copics. The Prima, leaves, pearls, ribbon, and Nesties Shapes finish it off. The sketch is Taylored Expressions Sketch Challenge #115.
Recipe:
Stamps: Elegant Post
Paper: Pure Luxury Ivory, Pure Luxury Chocolate Brown, Basic Grey's Cappella dp
Ink: Memento Rich Cocoa, Mellow Moss
Accessories: Prima, Leaves, Nestabilities, Ribbon, Brown Pearls, Copics

This is one of the cards I made for my Grandchildren's graduation/awards programs. We have 6 programs to attend so each one of them will receive a card and a little mad money...aren't Grandparents wonderful people...LOL!!! This was pretty simple...since it was for one of my DGSs, it had to be masculine with the stars and fun colors. I used an old Stampin Up! stamp and the paper was from Creative Impressions. He may overlook the ribbon as long as it has the awesome looking clip....I'll let ya know if it passes the cool test!!!
Recipe:
Stamps: Stampin Up! (I don't know the name of the set)
Papers: Vanilla, Real red, Not Quite Navy, Creative Impressions dp
Ink: Not Quite Navy
Accessories: Stampin Up! Star Punch, PTI Enchanted Evening Ribbon, Button, Clip

I just had to share Cody's special day with you...he felt sooo good about himself!!

He received 9 awards yesterday morning...he has worked so hard this year!!! We are sooo proud of him...Cody is such a wonderful young man!!! Do I sound like a proud Grandma....yup!!

Thanks so much for dropping by .....have a great day!!!

Sunday Stamping

Hello everyone....hope your Sunday was super fun!!!!!! We have had a crazy busy week with school graduations, programs, and our big family birthday party yesterday but first I want to tell you about the cards I made this afternoon. This one is for the Queen for the Day challenge on Splitcoast to honor Grace Nywening (scrappigramma2). Whoa...doesn't Grace have the most amazing gallery!!!!!!???!!!!!! It took me 2 days to find a card that I could case and still do justice to her design!!! Every card in Grace's gallery is sooo gorgeous and elegant...I am sooo in awe of her talents!!! I finally decided to case her Octagonal Framed Scripture card. I kept the same basic layout with the frame, flowers, and pierced corners but changed the colors, stamps, frame shape, and added the bird and ribbons. The sentiment stamp from Rubbernecker was stamped in Old Olive over the stamped flower image from Rubbernecker's Floral Silhouettes #467 set onto the Basic Grey dp. The frame was colored with cream acrylic paint and them sponged with Pink Pirouette, stamped with Rubbernecker's Script and Canvas background stamps, and sponged a little with Regal Rose ink. The flowers, leaves, gold cording, and the bird were all attached with glue dots and sewing was done around the background edges.

I made this card for today's Featured Stamper Challenge to honor Emily (Scoopy)...this is my first time to visit Emily's gallery and what a treat!!! She has so many awesome CAS cards to case!!! I finally decided on her Holiday Drinks card...I kept the same layout and theme but changed the color of the card base from red to white, added the red matting layer and the ribbon, and changed the stamps to Rubbernecker's Birthday Borders set for the drinks and RN's Party Time set for the sentiment.
Recipe:
Stamps: Rubbernecker Party Time amd Rubbernecker Birthday Borders
Paper: White, Old Olive, Real Red
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Accessories: Nestabilities, Ribbon, Cuttlebug and the Dotted Swiss Folder, Copics

We went to Caitlyn's Pre-K program Friday night...those little two year olds are sooo cute..Caitlyn is the littlest one in her class.

Can ya tell we live in Texas...even the two year olds wear cowboy boots!!!

This is our son Steve, his wife Christina, and their children, Ryan and Caitlyn....they are such a sweet little family!!!

We went to Cole's kindergarten graduation Friday morning....he was sooo excited to have his dad, our son Brian, and his Grandpa George there!!

Here he is receiving his diploma......

Congrats, Cole!!!!!!

We celebrated our May/June birthday party on Saturday. We had 7 birthdays and 2 anniversarys.....it's getting kinda hard to keep them all straight!!!!! Cole got a bike from his parents...pretty cool!!
