May Your Days be Happy!!

Hello everyone....hope all is well with you today!!! We are sorta recovered from the first of the week...my Mother was admitted to the hospital on Sunday and was discharged yesterday. My sister has been visiting from Iowa so we took turns staying the night with mom. She is doing much better...we are sooo blessed to still have her and my Dad is our lives!!!  Anyway.....

I made a card using Taylored Expressions new fall set called We Give Thanks for last weeks Free 4 All challenge on Splitcoast.  The challenge was to make a fall card with texture and to incorporate one of the HYCCT challenges so I used the wheat image and the beautiful sentiment. The wheat and sentiment were stamped with Memento Rich Cocoa and the wheat was colored with Copics.....the twine and Doodlebug sprinkles were added for texture. This also fits Jeanne's HYCCT1302 challenge to make a card that would make someone happy.

A frame was drawn around the edge with a brown marker to finish it off.

Thanks for stopping by...have a great Thursday!!!

Supply List:
TE Stamps: We Give Thanks
Paper: Choice Buttercream (TE), Soft Suede (SU), Doodlebug Happy Harvest 6x6 paper pad (TE)
Ink: Memento Rich Cocoa
Accessories: Brown Marker (SU), Copic Markers (TE), Twine (TE), Doodlebug Sprinkles (TE))

Shoe Box Swap Cards

Hello everyone!! I had such a great day today in Georgetown at the Austin Area Shoebox Swap!!! Lots of wonderful stamping friends, good good, and fabulous stamping!!! Tonight I will show you the Fall/Halloween cards we made. Later on in the week I will show you the Christmas cards, birthday cards, and all occassion cards.
This is one of my favorites....love the little leaves!! We had 45 minutes at each table and there were 4 card stations at each table. Since I am NOT a fast stamper, I didn't get a couple of them finished :(
The little turkey was made from punched shapes...tooo cute!!!
I love the colors on this fancy fold card...the oval piece flips around and has the sentiment stamped on another white oval piece.
Here are the Halloween cards. I made a Halloween card for my swap card but you can't see it till I get the bag finished. It will be #8 of 10 Halloween sets for my Grandbabys.
I may add some googly eyes to the owl....he needs a little something!!
I love this fancy fold. The coloring on the ghost isn't finished...I need to go back over it with a blender pen.
Don't look too close at the punched fence. I put it in the envie while the glue was wet and the fence moved. I'll add a ribbon to the bottom or a black cardstock strip to hide the oops!!

It's after midnight and I have turned into a pumpkin!! Thanks for visiting....have a wonderful Sunday!!!

Fall Fun

Hello everyone!!! Are you ready for Halloween??? It doesn't seem possible that today is
October 31.....where did the summer go!! My DH has been working on his Halloween *Haunted Yard* display for two days now. I will have some pictures for you tomorrow...I can't wait for all the Grands to see it!!! Anyway.....
I spent most of yesterday creating in the craft room with fall papers and stamps....I just love the warm, pretty colors of nature this time of year!!! I also wanted to play around with my new owl punch from Stampin Up!....I LOOOVE it!!! I used papers from K&Co. Fall Harvest dp and the branch from Schlosser Designs Boughs stamp set was stamped with Chocolate Chip, cutout, and adhered to the dp. The owl pieces were glued together and attached with dimensionals. The button with twine and the sentiment from Whiff of Joy's 2009 Fall Stamp kit finish it off. I had lots of scraps left over from my first card and decided to make another fall card. The images from Papertrey Ink's First Fruits were stamped on Apricot Appeal and matted with Really Rust that was run through the Cuttlebug with an embossing folder. The card base is Pure Luxury Chocolate Brown and the rust colored twill, button and twine are the only embellishments.
These cards are also for a few challenges:
2. Drunken Stampers - no copics
3. Secret Stampers Saturday Challenge - anything that flies
4. Paper Garden Projects Challenge - any Holiday (Thanksgiving)
5. Pattie's Creations Design Challenge - color challenge: yellow, orange, red, brown

It's a Tuesday Trigger and a Shabby Halloween

Good morning everyone....we have had a little excitment around here. Midnight was stung somewhere around her left eye yesterday and we had to have the vet come and take a look. Her vision was ok but her eye was swollen shut!! She received a steriod shot and today she is able to open it. Hopefully, she will be back to normal is a couple of days. It's amazing how animals try to communicate their feelings...she was so still and not like herself. She would stop eating and just look at me....as if asking me what I was going to do about her problem. It was so sad... like having one of my own children in pain!! Anyway
....above is the Tuesday Trigger on the Moxie Fab World Blog....an Abstract Folk Art Painting by Catherine Horvath Buchanan. Aren't the colors gorgeous!!!
I found my inspiration from the colors and the beautiful fall scene...the rolling hills were created with Basic Grey's Sugar Rush dp and sewing was done along the edges. Cosmo Cricket's Fly a Kite dp was used for the sun and the tree bases and sentiment were stamped with Papertrey Ink's Everyday Button Bits stamps. The leaves were stamped with More Mustard, Old Olive, and Really Rust. The buttons with twine finish it off.

I made this card for the Shabby Tea Room's challenge to make a shabby Halloween card. A Crafty Secrets Vintage Booklet Seasonal Picture was distressed around the edges and mounted on black matting. It was adhered over the chipboard tree from Little Yellow Bicycle and Martha Stewart punched bats give it a spooly look. Piercing was done around the background layer with the sewing machine, then the edges were distressed. The spider web and sentiment were stamped with stamps from Crafty Secrets Halloween Fun set and the ribbon bow, flowers, button, and twine finish it off.
This is also for a few other challenges:
1. Paper Playtime - ribbon, buttons, or rhinestones
2. The Character Cafe - 2 embellishments, ribbon, and the color orange
4. Stamptacular Sunday Challenge - at least 5 layers (I have 5)
5. Paper Sundaes - use something from your stash (I used the lace, flowers, and designer paper)
6. Sentimental Sundays - Autumn or Fall

A Sunday Full of Challenges

Good morning and thanks for dropping by on this beautiful Sunday morning!! I have been stamping up a storm this weekend...that is when I wasn't washing clothes, mopping floors, and feeding horses....my DH should go fishing more often...LOL!!! My friend and I went to see Eat, Pray, Love Friday night....I loved it but she fell asleep twice....maybe we should have gone to something a little more exciting...LOL!!! Anyway...on with the show.....

I made the first card for the challenge on Paper Sundaes Challenge to make a card with fall colors. The Rubbernecker Cornucopia image was stamped with Memento Rich Cocoa and colored with copics. It was then cutout and popped up .....the nesties shape was first sponges with Pumpkin Pie while it was still in the die. The sentiment is from a Just Rite oval frame...it was stamped, cutout, and attached with dimensionals over a squiggly line I drew on the background. The buttons strung through the twine, wrinkled seam binding, button, lace, leaves, and twine finish it off.
Recipe:
Stamps: Rubbernecker, Just Rite Autumn Blessings
Ink: Pumpkin Pie, Memento Rich Cocoa
Paper: Vanilla, Chocolate Chip, Really Rust, Fall Harvest dp from K&Co.
Accessories: Nestabilities, Buttons, Twine, Lace, Wrinkled Seam Binding, Prima Leaves, Metal Leaf, Copics

1. Stampin' Sisters in Christ - fall colors

3. My Sheri Crafts Challenge - Fall/Autumn

Jen has a great sketch this week on her i {heart} 2 stamp blog. I took a few liberties by using the scrunched lace and tilting the image layer just a little. The Crafty Secrets Material Girl stamps were stamped onto the vanilla cs with Memento Tuxedo Black and the edges were sponges with Tea Dye Distress Ink and distressed. Sewing and distressing was done around the background layer and the twill, button, twine, and the button on the image layer are the finishing touches.

Featured Stamper 85 - Shannon (E3stamper)

Today's featured stamper on Splitcoast is Shannon (E3stamper)...Congrats Shannon!!! WOW, what an awesome gallery to visit...I decided to case this awesome Riley card. I kept the same Riley theme but changed the stamp, kept the same sketch but added layers, and changed the colors. I also added the flowers, leaves, and ribbon.
Riley was stamped with Memento Brown ink and colored with Copic Markers. The background Old Olive layer was run through the Cuttlebug Dotted Swiss folder. The orange Basic Grey Mellow dp was stamped with the little leaf stamp from the Thoroughly Thankful set with Pumpkin Pie ink and scalloped with a Martha Stewart punch. The background paper by K&Company is so pretty and fallish...had to use it with Riley today! I used more of the paper leaves I bought at the Canton Flee Market and the Stampin Up! ribbon and button finish it off.
I will be uploading the cards we made at Michelle Zindorf's workshop after church today...we had such a great time!!! Michelle is wonderful...so kind to share her talent secrets!! I can tell ya now I need a LOT of practice!!! Have a great day!!

Happy Monday, Everyone!!

Today, the Technique Lover's Challenge on Splitcoast was to make a glittery background by using a background stamp, glue, and glitter. This was a great challenge....I was able to give a little love to a favorite background stamp! I'm afraid my background stamps have been ignored lately in favor of designer paper. This challenge will definately encourage me to get a little more use out of those forgotten stamps!!
The Climbing Leaves Background stamp from SonLight Impressions was inked up with a glue pad, stamped on the Pumpkin Pie cardstock, and covered with Dazzling Diamonds. The Anna Griffin wreath was stamped with Memento Brown on Vanilla Shimmery cardstock and colored with Copic Markers. The paper is by Prima Marketing Inc. Thanks for visiting and I will see ya tomorrow!!
Stamps: Climbing Leaves by SonLight Impressions, Anna Griffin
Paper: Pumpkin Pie, Perfect Plum, Vanilla, Prima Marketing Inc.

Embossed Shimmer

Good Morning! The TLC Challenge (Try a New Technique) on Splitcoast today was to stipple Lumiere tinted with reinkers onto acetate and run through the cuttlebug to create a shimmery embossed background. I cut the piece of acetate 4" by 5 1/4 ". Drops of Old Olive, Only Orange, and Ruby Red reinkers were placed on a paper plate. The Lumiere was added to each of the drops with a stipple brush and then stippled on the acetate. I did use a a piece of papertowl to move some of the goo because my brush kept loosing hairs! After it was dry, I ran it through the cuttlebug. Remember to place the colored side down in the folder....I didn't do that the first time so I had to make another one. You don't want the paint side up on your card because it will peel off! I layered the acetate on a piece of Pumpkin Pie and then mounted on Old Olive.
The Lockhart image was stamped with Memento Brown ink and colored with Copic Markers. The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink. Ribbon, Prima, and leaf brad complete the card. Thanks for visiting and please come again! I will be uploading some fun Halloween cards later today.
