This is a bittersweet post for me as it will be my last for Meljen's Designs . Melissa has announced the shop closure which will be at the end of March. This will include the Design Team and Challenge Blog. Melissa is moving on to a new adventure with her art and we all want to wish her well! This week's challenge is to use gold on your project. (no designer paper) Here's my card using the adorable " Cutie Crab " The image was printed twice and colored with Copic Markers.  For extra dimension, pieces of the crab was fussy cut and added. Yellow and orange Stickles were added to the edge of the sunburst. The sun card base is a digital template from Sweet 'n Sassy . Good morning! It's my turn to share a little Meljen's inspiration with you. I decided to share one of my favorite  ways to embellish cards. It's quick, easy and (dare I say) Cheap! I add machine stitching to many of my projects. If you don't own a sewing machine there are many ways to achieve the same look. You can draw stitched borders or hand stitch a fun border.  The possibilities are endless! The enamel dots were created "from scratch" by melting Ponybeads and Perlerbeads. Melissa has a whole category of pre-colored images in the shop.  I couldn't resist the sweet " Patriotic Bear " for this week's project. Stickles were added to the image for dimension and bling.  The base panel has been dry embossed with a large star embossing folder from Cuttlebug. I've had these little buttons in my stash for awhile. The colors coordinated perfectly! Of course, you can get this image and many others at 50% off right now. No coupon is required! Welcome to a new Meljen's Designs Challenge . This week's challenge is "Sew Perfect". Use real or faux stitching on your project. I used Meljen's Sweet Little Lop for my birthday card. The image was colored with Copic Markers  and shaded with charcoal pencil. A little sparkle was added with Stickles. The machine stitched border completes the card. Welcome to a new Meljen's Designs Challenge . This week we are challenging you to create a bookmark. I love the magnetic bookmarks. They are easy to make, great gifts and very functional. The base of the bookmark is the largest die from Spellbinders Long Classic Rectangles Large Nestibilities.  I easily scored and folded the die then applied the fun image from Meljen's Designs called " Little School Books ". A glittery foam star and rhinestones finish the bookmark. Finally, two small magnets were adhered to the inside bottom of the bookmark.   This will hold the bookmark secure in your book! Welcome to a new challenge with Meljen's Designs . This week we are challenging you to pull out your metal embellishments. My project includes a metal concho that  I found in my stash.  I thought it worked perfectly with the sweet " Get Along Little Doggie " image from Meljen's Design. Isn't this the cutest pup?  He was colored with Copic Markers.  The hatband and kerchief were paper pieced. I hope you've been inspired to play along this week!
