Sunday Sketch & Stamp Birthday Celebration

Monday comes around pretty quick at my house. Off to begin another work week! But first, I wanted to share a sweet little "just because" card that I created last night. The sweet image is from Meljen's Designs and appropriately called " Bear Butt ". Melissa shares such fabulous art and has recently begun posting a Friday Freebie. Be sure and check the blog or join Meljen's Facebook group to learn about the weekly freebie. This sweet image was colored with Copic Markers. The cloudy sky and grass were sponged with Memento inks. I replaced the sentiment panel in the following sketch with a die cut sun from My Favorite Things and button with twine for added dimension. The sketch is from Sunday Sketch & Stamp . For this week's Birthday Celebration they have asked that we choose a past sketch for our projects.  I chose sketch #191: This card also qualifies for the Simon Says Wednesday Challenge: ...

Stella Says Sketch #206 & Simon Says Anything Goes with Buttons!

I hope everyone is having a fabulous weekend! Still a lot of snow on the ground here, but we still managed a short hike today. I received some exciting news today as well, but I'm not sure that I can share with you yet!   More to come! I also managed a little crafty time to put together this sweet card for a couple of challenges. First, I have used this week's Freebie Friday image from Bugaboo called " Button Bear ". This sweet image was so much fun to color and  quickly went together.  The image was printed twice and the button was fussy cut.  Glossy accents were added and holes punched to allow for the baker's twine bow.  I pulled out some older Stampin' Up! papers that worked perfectly with the button theme. The card layout is from this week's Stella's Sketch challenge : Here's a close up of the sweet Button Bear image: My card qualifies for the following challenges: Stella Say...

Can you believe that March is almost at an end? Where did the month go? Well, a few inspirational challenges prompted this sweet card tonight.  Crafting is my relaxation and stress relief after coming home from my "day job". It was so much fun to put this little card together using Unity's " Happiness Is " by Phyllis Harris. The image was stamped onto dictionary paper and colored  with Copic Markers.  I sponged the cloudy background with Memento Summer Sky ink and a scallop circle die cut.  The lace and pink border were machine stitched. Finally, a Heidi Swapp Ghost flower (from my stash)  and button were added to finish the card. I used this month...

Sassy Cheryl, MFT sketch & Simon Says!

I hope you are having a great weekend! We've had a beautiful, sunny day here in Anchorage. We even managed a hike with the pups earlier today! I'm stopping in to share a card that I created for Mother's Day. The sweet image is from Sassy Cheryl. I searched my stash of digis this week and couldn't resist using " Pigtail Gabby " again for this card. This week's Sassy Chery challenge is "Lot's of layers ". The sweet Gabby image was colored with Copic Markers and Prismacolor pencils.  It was fussy cut and applied with foam  dimension tape.  The sentiment is from Create with TLC and  called " Happy Mother's Day to Everyone ". Here's a close up of the colored image.  So much fun to color!   Except for the freckles, I couldn't help but think that "Gabby" looks like my little niece!  Maybe that's why I've been drawn to this image  so much recently.  LOL! ...

Unity Friends with Flair and Sketch-N-Scrap #52

The week's seem to fly by and we are back to play along with Unity's Friends with Flair blog hop party. I made a promise to myself that I would scrapbook this year's vacation before  next year.  You smile, but pictures are still in  my drawer from our last two annual vacations! UGH! Unity kits and IttyBitty stamps have really inspired me to use more stamped images with my scrapbook layouts. Here's what I came up with this week. I can't believe how quickly it all went together! The following Unity stamp sets were used: Beautiful Place, Clear Head All day pass (to the beach) Epic Moments SMAK 6/13 Here's close up so you can see how beautifully the sun ray image from "Epic Moments" stamped on the Kraft: The sketch inspiration came from  Sketch~N~Scrap Challenge #52 : Thanks for stopping by for a closer look! Meljen's Designs Challenge #202 - Girls Just Wanna Have Fun

Hello and welcome to a new challenge with Meljen's Designs ! This week it's all about the girls. Our theme is " Girls just wanna have fun "! Create a girlie themed project, but don't forget to use a Meljen's Designs digital image. Here's my project for this week: I purchased a pack of these little canvas bags  at JoAnn's a few weeks ago.  They came in several different colors and the perfect size for my two nieces who are age 2 and (almost) 4.  Wow, where does the time go?! I printed the adorable " Little Loved Bear " onto an iron-on transfer sheet.   Don't forget to 'flip', 'mirror' or 'reverse' the image in your computer application so that  the image will be printed backwards.   Let the ink on the transfer dry well then trim closely to your printed image. The image was then ironed onto  a piece of cream colored canvas.   This was also trimmed and colored wit...

Art Impressions Challenge #131 - "Take A Peek"

I needed a birthday card this week and decided on something humorous.  I was the lucky winner over on the Art Impressions Challenge a couple of weeks ago. This image and sentiment were among my prize goodies! This week's Art Impressions Challenge is "Take a Peek" creating a window card or some style to see inside the card. I used two stamps from the AI Bird-Brains collection the adorable " Birdie " and " Laying an egg... " The card base was stamped with a chicken wire  background stamp from Stampin' Up!  The window was created by using a Square Spellbinder die. The window frame was created with two of the square dies. The inside image was colored with Copic Markers. I love the "attitude" of the chicken and this  sentiment coordinates perfectly.  AI makes creating a humorous card SO easy! Thanks for stopping by for a closer look. I always enjoy reading your comments!

The fun bear image was colored with Copic markers and fussy cut. The Polaroid frame die was cut from card stock stamped with the Wood Grain.  The card base was distressed with Rich Cocoa Memento ink and a dauber. Stella Says Sketch Challenge #205

Happy Saturday! Hope you are having a great weekend in your part of the world. We awoke to an unexpected 12 plus inches of snow  this morning in Anchorage.  That was a fun start to the day!  Just glad it wasn't a work day.   In between cleaning house, walking the dogs and getting groceries I managed to create a  card for the current Stella Says Sketch Challenge . I used " Gus Fish Whisperer ". The image was colored with Copic Markers and designer papers from Echo Park Happy Camper. Thanks for stopping by and taking a look! I always enjoy reading your comments.

Sassy Cheryl - Anything Goes

Oh, how I have missed playing along with the Sassy Cheryl challenge these past few weeks! (So much crafting and so little time.) I purchased " Pigtail Gabby " a few  weeks ago ... she is absolutely adorable. Love those pigtails and wisps of hair  covering her sweet face! This week's challenge over on the  Sassy Cheryl's Digi Stamps Challenge blog is " Anything Goes ". I'm taking advantage to get a head start on  my Mother's Day cards. A clean and simple design focusing on the adorable image.  The top border is from Simple Stories, as well as, the die cut sun.  The Mother's Day sentiment is from  Create with TLC.  The digital set is called " Happy Mothers Day to Everyone ". I colored the image with Copic markers and Prismacolor pencils. Charcoal pencils were used for shading.  I had so much fun coloring this new image! I am also entering the card into the following challenges: ...

Unity Friends with Flair and Simon Says Stamp Challenge

I'm back with a second post today! Friday's are Unity's Friends with Flair   customer blog hop day.  I always look  forward to sharing and hopping to see all of the fabulous inspiration that's shared. This card kind of took on a life of it's own and this is what I ended up with this morning. The side panel has been machine stitched and all of the edges distressed with Memento ink.   I purchased the July 2012 KOTM " Ol' Bag of Fun " recently and really like many of the images. The row of ladies really  intrigued me and thought it would work  well with this month's {be Inspired}  sketch challenge. I am also entering this card into this week's Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge: "D is for Distress" Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to comment for you chance at a fabulous Unity prize!

Jellypark Friends Challenge - Pretty Pastels

Happy Friday and welcome to a new Jellypark Friends Challenge - Pretty Pastels . The design team is showcasing a couple of new images today that are perfect for your Spring projects and our challenge theme. But first, I want to show you the project I created using the new release " Bunny with Basket of Flowers ":     It was so much fun decorating this canvas tote!   The digital image was printed onto a transfer sheet.   After ironing the transfer onto the tote, the image was colored with Copic markers.  A little Memento ink sponged  along the edges, rhinestone bling and a row of floral ribbon was glued to the bag.  I really like how this turned out and hope to  make another one soon.   Here's a close up of the colored image:   Both of the new release images are adorable and perfect for lots of projects.     You can find them both in the shop HERE . ...

Art Impressions Challenge #130 - Sheer Perfection

Please click HERE if you are joining Meljen's 200th Challenge Blog Hop Celebraton . Thanks for stopping by today. I hope everyone is having a great weekend! Art Impressions has been around for a long time. I just recently rediscovered them while shopping at my LSS (Stamp Attic) one day last  year and came across one of their adorable, humorous stamp sets.  It's all been "down hill" from there! This week's Art Impressions challenge is Sheer Perfection - using vellum with our Art Impressions project. I have a folder full of vellum and knew right  away that it would work perfectly as the  background for the Pedal Pushers girlfriends! For my project, I used a sheet of blue vellum and dry  embossed it with a Stampin' Up cloud folder.  I cut a separate sloping panel of Amuse gingham card stock for the grassy hill. The images was colored with  Copic Markers and fussy cut then applied with dimension tape. ...

Paper Smooches Sparks - Anything Goes Challenge

I hope everyone is having a fabulous Saturday! We are having a beautiful, sunny day. When I saw this week's Paper Smooches Sparks Challenge was "Anything Goes".  I knew I wanted to create a scrapbook layout using photos from our recent trip to the island of Maui. I have used  " Surf & Turf " from Paper Smooches Stamps and Polaroid die . The seaweed is from Kim's "Ocean Friends"set. The layout was created by combining stickers, designer papers, stamps and a Hero Arts stencil.  Below is a closeup of the  stenciling process.  It's difficult to see in the photo, but I applied a layer of Liquitex gloss heavy gel for texture. Thanks for stopping by for a closer look! I am also entering this into the  following: April Paper Smooches Guest Designer Search and Sassy Cheryl's Show Me #140

Unity Friends with Flair and {be Inspired} Challenge

Wow, has it been a LONG week for you?! I began to wonder if Friday would ever come around. Well, for the Unity groupies we know that Friday means " Friends With Flair ".  A time to share our creations, promote Unity's fabulous  products AND get a chance at winning some Unity goodies! My project for the FWF uses inspiration from the current {be Inspired} challenge colors I have used the fabulous " Let Love Fly " set by the ubber talented Phyllis Harris. I've seen a few examples of stamping directly onto dictionary paper.  I decided to give it a try and colored this image while I was away on vacation recently. I layered the image on colors from the challenge combo and added a few yellow gems.  The coordinating sentiment was stamped last.  Very Clean and Simple, but I really like the finished effect.  I will probably be trying this again. Here's a close up: Thanks for stopping by for a closer look! ...
