Handmade Background Card #1

Hi and welcome to my blog. I hope you had a Happy New Year! Each year I have a series on my blog so that I can try to use up my many craft items! I know I never will, but I try to make a dent anyway. LOL! I will show my background cards every 2nd and 4th Tuesday. I hope that you will drop by often to take a peek.

This year's series will be all about backgrounds. I love trying techniques and I have made hundreds of card backgrounds. I am starting off with a fun background that I made using acrylic paints.

For this background I swiped purple, blue and white paints over the card in a horizontal and vertical direction using a credit card. After it dried I brayered some white paint on bubble wrap and patted it on the swiped background.

I used an image a stamping friend sent me. I colored the scarf and carrot nose with alcohol markers. I added Sparkle embossing powder to the snowman's body. He was cut out using the Gina Marie stitched circle die. The snowflake is a Cuttlebug die and clear Stickles glitter was added to it for sparkle.

Thanks for stopping by today. Have a great day!

Just For Fun March Challenge

Hi and welcome to my blog! We are having another challenge at Just For Fun Stamps! You will enjoy this challenge because the theme is Movement! I love cards that move. They are always fun to make and to receive! On my card I used the Flower Balloon stamp, embossed it with black embossing powder, colored with Zig markers and fussy cut it. I used a wavy die to show the balloon moving throught the clouds. The background was made by using cloud stencils and sponging around the stencils with Distress Oxide inks. The saying is from the Sentiments 3 unmounted sheet.

I have gone hot air ballooning and it was a wonderful ride -- gliding through the air just over the tree tops. If you ever have a chance, I hope that you will go. It was one of my greatest experiences!

Here is the card when the balloon has been moved to the other side of the card. I made the balloon move by adding a penny to the back of the balloon, then adding a small pop dot, then adding another penny to the pop dot to hold the pennies together.

Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope that you will join in this fun challenge. I would love to see your movement cards!

Have a wonderful day!

Hello

Hello and welcome to my blog! I love techniques and I decided to use a very old, but fun technique on this card. I enjoy bringing back some old techniques because they feel like new after not using them for awhile!

I used the Joseph's Coat technique on this, but instead of sponging the background with different colors, I used patterned paper. I stamped the Peacock Feather from Just For Fun Stamps, onto the patterned paper and embossed it with clear embossing powder. Next I used Faded Jeans Distress ink and coverd the whole card with the ink. Next, I wiped off the excess ink from the image and the patterned paper popped through the image. I like that with using the blue ink, that you can still see the patterned paper under it. I think this method gives the feather a ghost effect. I added a die cut Hello (no brand) to the card.

Hop on over to the Just for Fun store to see all the great stamps they carry. Click on the link here to see their newest stamps!

Warm Wishes

Hi and welcome to my blog! I love a cup of hot tea in the evenings when it is frosty outside. So I have been enjoying tea quite a bit lately! I made a card using this neat stamp from Just For Fun called Stamptangle Tea.

The cups were colored using Zig watercolor pens. The pens have a very pointed tip and are great for coloring the stamptangle stamps. I fussy cut the stamp, added stickles glitter to the "steam" and pop dotted it to the card. I cut a window using the Grand Madison Window die by Memory Box. I made "snow" by using a Versa Mark pen and adding white glitter embossing powder. The blue piece was adhered behind the window and also pop dotted to the card. For the background I ran white card stock through a Sizzix embossing folder. The saying is from the Sentiments 2 unmounted sheet.

Thanks so much for stopping by. We hope to see your wonderful creations in our challenge this month which is Music and use green, purple and gold on your card. You might even win a gift certificate to the store!

Warm Wishes!

Just For Fun February Challenge

Hello and welcome to my blog. It is time for another challenge at Just For Fun Stamps! The theme for this challenge is Music and add purple, green and gold. Here is the birthday card I made below.

First I stamped and embossed the Streamer stamp using gold glitter embossing powder. The powder was also used on the candle flame and cupcake holder. I stamped, colored and fussy cut the Birthday Cupcake stamp and pop dotted it to the card. I used a music note die ( no brand ) and adhered it over the card. The saying from the Sentiments 1 unmounted sheet was stamped under the music notes. Star sequins and green enamel dots were added for embellishment.

Thanks so much for stopping by today. I hope that you will join in the challenge. We would love to see what you make! You might even win a gift certificate to the store!

Have a wonderful day!

Love Is In The Air!

Hello and welcome to my blog! I want to show you a Valentine card I made. I can't believe that Valentine's Day will be here soon!  At Just For Fun they have so many wonderful stamps to use for this special day. You can see them here.

I used one of the Postal Hearts on this card. I embossed it using black embossing powder, colored it using alcohol markers and fussy cut it to fit over the heart embossed Spellbinder die. I added a punched border, ribbon, cord and silver enamel dots for embellishment.

You still have time to join in the challenge this month. The theme is to use blue and silver. We hope to see you there!

Have a great day!

Hi and welcome to my blog! I want to show you a birthday card I made using this cute image from Penny Black's Critter Party stamp set and a new Tim Holtz die from Sizzix.

I stamped and colored the image using alcohol markers. The image was cut out using Gina Marie's Stitched Oval die and pop dotted to the card. I used clear glitter embossing powder on the circles on the patterned paper and on the cupcake and flame.

Thanks so much for stopping by. I hope you have a great day!

Just For Fun January Challenge

Hi and Happy New Year! Wow, this last year went by really fast! I wish you all the best in 2019. I want to show you a card that I made for the Just For Fun stamp challenge. The theme is to use blue and silver.

I stamped the Just For Fun Tree Line stamp and added silver embossing powder. I used small circle hand punches for the "snow" and layered this piece on silver glitter card stock. Then I layered this onto a dark blue background.

In this picture you can see the glitter card stock better.

I hope you will join in our challenge. I would love to see what you create. You might even win a gift certificate to the store!

Have a wonderful day and Happy New Year!

Just For Fun November Challenge

Hi and welcome to my blog. At Just For Fun Stamps the challenge this month is a color challenge -- use brown, orange and red on your project. Here is the happy birthday card I made.

It seems that I have a lot of Fall birthday cards to send and I love using the Fall colors. On this card I used brown Coordinations cardstock that has the kraft color underneath. I used a leaf embossing folder and sanded the card stock so that the kraft color showed through. I cut the Spellbinders Wreath die from kraft card stock and added the Just For Fun leaves to it. I stamped and embossed them, colored with orange and red Zig markers and then fussy cut them. I also added a bow and rust colored rhinestones for interest. The Happy Birthday cut from orange card stock is an unbranded die.

I hope that you will join in the new challenge this month. We would love to see what you make using these Fall colors. You might even win a gift certificate to the store!

Thanks for stopping by. Have a wonderful day!

Fall Hello

Hi! Welcome to my blog. I am showing a Fall card using a pretty brand new leaf stamp from Just For Fun Stamps that will be on the web site soon.

I stamped and embossed the leaf four times on various Color Burst background papers that I made. They were fussy cut and added to the tree embossed background. I flicked some copper metallic paint across the card and stamped hello at the bottom. Sparkle enamel dots and a cord bow were also added.

We would love to have you join in this month's challenge -- Halloween. You might even win a gift certificate to the store!

Thanks so much for stopping by. I hope you are having a good day.

Lighthouse

Hi! I hope you are having a good day. I want to show you a card I made with one of the new lighthouse stamps that will be available soon at Just For Fun Stamps. This one reminds me of the lighthouse at Cape Hatteras, North Carolina. We took a trip there last summer. In 1999 the lighthouse had to be moved to safer ground, 2,900 feet inland. The move was a success! Can you imagine having the job to move such a heavy and tall structure? ( 200 feet tall and 5,000 tons! )

I thought this would make a good male birthday card. I found a background in my stash where I had used the shaving cream technique.
I stamped the lighthouse directly on the background and colored with alcohol markers. I stamped the Tiny Flying Birds at the top. I used white embossing powder and glitter on the clouds.

I hope you will join in this month's "back to school" challenge. We would love to see what you make! You could also win a gift certificate to the store.

Have a wonderful day!

Just For Fun Challenge

Another month has quickly passed and we are now in June! Time really flies. At Just For Fun  the challenge for this month is to make a shaped card. I made my card into a birdhouse and used the Just For Fun small Fashion Warbler. I stamped the bird and embossed with white embossing powder. I colored the bird using Zig watercolor markers and then fussy cut it. The birdhouse was run through a wood embossing folder. I swiped dark brown Distress ink over the raised areas. The leaf die is Fresh Foliage from Memory Box. I used the saying from the Sentiments 3 umounted sheet and cut it in two so that it would fit in the circle.

We hope that you will join in our new challenge. We would love to see all of your fun shaped cards. You might even win a gift certificate to the store!

Fractured Sky

Hi! I hope you are having a good day. I was not sure how to name this card. You can see why I called it Fractured Sky. I found this background in my stash where I had stamped the Just For Fun Broken Mosaic background stamp on watercolor paper and added clear embossing powder. I then dropped various colors of Distress inks into the open spaces and let them blend together using my water pen. Next I stamped the Skyline Silhouette stamp on white card stock using blue ink and fussy cut it. This stamp reminds me of the New York City skyline and the song New York! I pop dotted that to the background. I found the balloon embellishment in my stash and adhered it to a blue circle punched backing.

Thanks so much for stopping by. Please join the Just For Fun challenge this month which is to use more than one stamp! We would love to see your creations! Have a great day!

Shabby Chic #7

Hi and welcome to my blog. I am back with another shabby chic card today. I went into my button bin and used several on this card. The rose is also a button! The embossed background was already in my stash and white perfect pearls was brushed over it after applying versa mark ink. I used the same ribbon on the hat as I did to make the bow. Lacy stickers were adhered on the back of the first layer. The girl stamp is from Inkadinkado and the definition stamp is from Sparkle N Sprinkle. The Paris stamp is unknown.

Just For Fun March Challenge

Hi and welcome to my blog. I hope you are enjoying your day. Just For Fun Stamps has a new challenge and for this challenge you are to use dies. The two dies I used on my card are the Marianne Birdcage die and the Memory Box Fresh Foliage die. I cut the birdcage from a pewter metal sheet. Most of you already know that I love birds. On my card today I used the Just For Fun Fashion Warbler stamp.

The bird was stamped and embossed with white embossing powder. I colored the bird using Twinkling H2Os, fussy cut it and pop dotted it to the card. The background was made by tapping Distress inks onto my craft mat, spritzing them with water and swiping the card stock through the inks.

I hope you will join us in our new challenge this month. We would love to see what you make! You might even win a gift certificate to the store.

Shabby Chic #2

Hi and welcome to my blog. I hope the New Year has started off well for you. Here is my second shabby chic card in my series. I have had the snowflake die from Alina Craft for awhile and this is the first time I used it. I cut it from white glitter card stock. It was placed behind the image that I stamped and cut out using the Spellbinders Small Oval die. I edged the die using silver embossing powder. To finish off the image I added clear Stickles glitter in several areas. I found the tag in my stash and also edged it with silver embossing powder. The patterned paper also came from my stash of scraps.

Thanks so much for stopping by today. I hope you have a blessed New Year!

JFF January Challenge

Happy New Year Everyone! I hope this will be your best year ever! As I get older each year goes by faster. I do not know where 2017 went! I want to show you a card I made for the Just For Fun challenge. We have a great challenge to start off the New Year. The challenge is to use blue, purple and silver on your card. These are such wonderful winter colors. I hope you will join us in the challenge and you might even win a gift certificate to the store!

Image may contain: text

I made the background on this card by patting blue and purple Oxide inks on my craft sheet, spritzing with water and dragging the card through the inks. Once dry, I spritzed some water over the background to add some interest. Next I laid a stencil over the background and used white matte embossing paste. I then sprinkled silver embossing powder over the paste and heat set it. I stamped a new Just For Fun stamp called Silhouette Pines. I used Versa Mark ink and added purple embossing powder and heat set it. The saying is from the Sentiments 3 unmounted sheet.

Thanks so much for stopping by. I hope you have a great start to your new year!

Reindeer Greetings

Hi and welcome to my blog. Have you gotten in the Christmas spirit yet? We had a surprise snow here in South Carolina over the weekend and it certainly put me in the Christmas spirit! We hardly ever get snow. We got about 3 inches. I want to show you a Christmas card I made. I am trying to do more shabby chic cards and I think this one qualifies.

I made the background by using a snowflake embossing folder and swiping a few colors of Distress inks over the raised areas. I stamped the deer (unknown) using Walnut Stain Oxide ink and cut it out with the Gina Marrie Stitched Circle die. The frame for the deer was made by using a Martha Stewart corner punch. I added some "greenery" at the top made from blue card stock using the Impression Obessesion Greenery die. The snowflake is also a die (unknown) and I added clear stickles glitter to it as you can see in the picture below. I cut a tag using a cuttlebug die and embossed the saying with white embossing powder.

Thanks so much for stopping by today. Have a blessed Christmas season!
