TEAL STILL LOOKS TERRIFIC

Call it teal or call it peacock blue, but this shade of blue is still shining through. A hit of the color against red is especially alluring, but it also looks great all on its own, alone. Be on the lookout for major brights come spring, this will ease you in to the intense colors to come.

GOOD ON PAPER: DEMPSEY AND CAROLL TAPS TEXTILE MAVEN MADELINE WEINRIB FOR A CAPSULE COLLECTION

Photo courtesy of Madeline Weinrib Studio Printworks
Allemande, her black and white wallpaper was created with Studio Printworks and inspired by a vintage French Brocade

Textile and rug designer Madeline Weinrib has been tapped by American stationer Dempsey & Carroll to do a limited edition writing paper collection. It follows on the heels of a wonderful John Derian collaboration. Madeline's designs are known for their exotic pattern play and painterly feel, and they translate well to envelope liners, adding a charming element of surprise. It is like wearing a great coat with a punchy patterned silk lining- a burst of color lurks inside. If you want to make them your own, personalization is available too- why not add your monogram in a bright contrasting color? Madeline spends much of her time traveling India and exotic lands, and one of the organizations she supports is Project Mala, a non-profit organization working to eliminate child labor in the Indian carpet industry. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of these cards benefits Project Mala, so do good and write beautifully.

Allemande, a pattern with a painterly flourish of over-sized damask florals is executed in graphic black and white. Ten black-bordered cards and ten lined envelopes come in each boxed set, including two of each of the five liners.

Isabelle is inspired by a block printed fabric print, one repeat is an all over and the other is a spaced pattern. I am a pink girl, so I love this one. Ten geranium-bordered cards and ten lined envelopes come in the boxed set, with five of each of the two liners.

Isabelle in blue and ecru has a crisp look to it. Whichever you fancy, the person you send it to will surely be in for a treat.

DESIGNERS SOLEDAD TWOMBLY AND MADELINE WEINRIB TEAM UP FOR FASHION

Soledad Twombly
Argentinean-born tastemaker and designer Soledad Twombly has Ateliers in Rome and New York with her fashion label, Sole. Madeline Weinrib's traditional East meets West vibrant ikats and prints have been turned into glamorous blouses and jackets with Soledad's hand.

The new fifteen piece clothing collection recently debuted during Fashion Week, with a two day trunk show. Twombly explains that her “intention is to create luxuriously-detailed, one of a kind pieces that are made out of original central Asian fabrics inside and 100% Italian velvet on the outside so the eccentric fabric serves as a surprise to the eye.” Yes, it is that Twombly, as in Cy, Soledad is married to Alessandro, the son of the celebrated American painter.

The next stop is Rome, where a trunk show is slated for early November, hosted by acclaimed ceramics and glassware designer Brook Sigal. When in Rome...

SHOP MADELEINE WEINRIB'S IKAT ACCESSORIES AT THE NEUE GALLERY STORE FOR THE BRUCKE EXHIBITION

Sometimes you just want to take in a museum without having it overwhelm. When on the Upper East Side, you can choose the Met or another gem. Few museums are as small and jewel- like as the Neue Gallery, New York's unique museum of German and Austrian Art. Not only do they have a standout book store and gift shop filled with great glass and silver, they have two fabulous restaurants-- Cafe Sabarsky overlooking Central Park and Cafe Fledermaus downstairs.
The reason for all this fanfare is this. A stunning limited edition collection of Ikat pillows and throws was made by Madeleine Weinrib for the Neue Gallery Shop. Done for the current Brucke exhibit, the multi- colored antique textiles came from her collection and are available for the run of the show. Visit, eat, shop, and make sure to see BRÜCKE: THE BIRTH OF EXPRESSIONISM IN DRESDEN AND BERLIN, 1905-1913, which runs till June 29, 2009. Make a day of it, at 1048 Fifth Avenue at 86th Street.

Glorious reds, yellows and teal make this velvet pillow lush and graphic.
