Dottie's Wonderful World

Well you know it's been a LONG while since I've entered the Dottie's World Challenge OR used a Dottie image... but here goes... Isn't she sweet!

Lou is the gorgeous designer behind these images and many more... including a new set of Fairytale images... over at Charmed Cards and Crafts!!

Anyways, back to the challenge...They would like us to make a Summery card (using a Charmed download) AND to make something different... well I'm not a big one for making shaped cards.. but do like them and this is also a lot smaller than I'm used to... and I don't usually like to cut the images up but I've done all this as you can see below....

What's inside???

Thanks for stopping by... I have to go make a Risotto now for Bible Study tonight... and then I'm hoping to get some blog hopping done.. feel like I have not left many comments for an age (I just have been reading in google reader! lol)

VIva La France

Whooo!!! I am FINALLY getting to post an entry in the Dottie's World challenge again! yay!
I've been working on a little project with the lovely Pixies but I will show you that another day!

The current Challenge at Dottie's World is in honour of Bastille Day this week... so - I made this card on Bastille day. Louise wrote:

"The 14th of July marks the French public holiday of Bastille Day so to join the French in their celebrations I would like us to make something with a French feel. It could be the image, it could be a french sentiment or it could just make you say Oh La La! It might even be just in the colours of the French flag (red, white and blue), it's up to you! Just have fun! Oh and don't forget to use one of the Charmed downloads!"

So here is my card:

Ingredients:
I used a stamped image of the Eifel tower from my sister and the "Madison Oh la la" image from the Madison and Holly download package available at Charmed Cards and Crafts
Ribbon is from Spotlight and cardstock is from office works, I also used the Swiss dots embossing folder with my cuttlebug!

Merci, Au Revoir!

Dottie's World :: Blast from the Past

This week's Dottie's World challenge is set by Lou and this is what she said:

"This week I want you to look through your photos of cards you've made in the past, find one you really like then recreate it using the exact same layout but with different papers and embellishments! Of course there must be a Charmed download image in there too!"

Well I looked through my old Dottie's World challenge cards for a good one and decided to use the very first card I made for a Dottie's World challenge... here it is below!

And HERE is my NEW VERSION
.... using "Holly - Pamper Time!"
As per my original card I even used Paper piecing! I should do this more often - I like the effect!

Oh and you better pop on over to Dottie's World as they are giving away a free image this week for all who enter, and you would not want to miss out on the AWESOME "Holly in the USA" image!

I hope you have a wonderful week!!

Huge thanks to Karen for getting them to me :)

the other thing Tina sent me was the Swiss Dot's cuttlebug folder... ahhh! I've been wishing for that for a LONG time now... I think you might be seeing a bit more of the swiss dots on my work! lol :)

Starting the Year with a laugh

Well.. I am cutting it fine for Dottie's World Challenge this week but I am scraping in with my entry .... Karen set the challenge this week:

"Start the New Year with a Laugh" . I simply want to see "something funny" on your project; what you use and how you make it is up to you, as long as you use one of the Charmed downloads.

I used the Juliet image from the latest download set Lou has brought out!! I think that this is my favourite image from that set!!

I had the idea to use a shopping list ... but as you can see from Juliet's bags... that shopping does not look like groceries to me .... I like the quote which was included in the download sentiments.

And before I go to bed I thought I's show you a couple more peeks at what I have been spending my last days of my holiday doing.... The winner of this fortnights Crafty Muse challenge will receive a copy of this download set!

Dottie's World :: Wishing You Well

The Dottie's World challenge is "Wishing You Well"

I thought this would be a good card to send to someone going through a hard time.
I just LOVE these new girls... they are such fun to colour however for this challenge I used the coloured image and layered it in photoshop with this cafe scene which I took in Aix last year!

It's not the best photo (but will have to do for now)!

Close up of the cafe scene :)

inside of card (using my Hanna Stamps coffee bean stamp)

I can show this NOW as it's finally arrived!!
This is the book that I made to send my sister in Paris for Christmas - my other sisters and I bought her a voucher to Gallery La Fayette .... so I used some photos we took in Paris as the backgrounds for the Girl about Town downloads..... these lovely images are available to buy at Charmed Cards and Crafts

Pudding Dottie - on a Tag

YAY!!! I have done another Dottie's World Challenge (early in the week)!! :) back on a roll!!

Louly set the challenge saying

Oooh Christmas is nearly upon us and I'm starting to feel Christmassy now! However!.....I have to confess to being a tad tired of Christmas cards so this week I'm challenging you to make tags. Nice and easy eh? That's what I thought.

I must admit I am sick of Christmas cards too.... Making a tag was fairly quick and easy - particularly with Lou's precoloured images! lol. Here is my tag:

Dotties World :: Going for a song

Well... I've done it... I 'm getting back into the swing... slowly....My sister Nic is here for the weekend and so we've been doing a spot of crafting....

I did my card for this week's challenge...

Lou set a great one on Dottie's World this week and the DT have made some super Creations again!! What was her challenge you ask???

"It's quite an easy one this week, to celebrate my good mood I've gone for a music theme (I love to sing). All you have to do along with using a Charmed download, is incorporate the words of a song or the title of a song into your card but you're not allowed 'happy birthday' or 'congratulations' for your song, I know I said easy but that's a step too far along the easy road!"

I went with a Christmas themed card for my first attempt... pretty simple and inside I wrote "Let Earth Receive its King" ... It's pretty simple.. .I was not too keen on it and so I tried again...

I love this bathtime Dottie image... I coloured this one ages ago but it's the FIRST time I've used the image on a card! :) ... I used two different songs for this one... :)

Mmm... I'm not still not too happy with it....

Before I go - I'll leave you with pictures of the card and detachable bookmark which was my idea for last weeks challenge BUT was not made in time (I finished it off today) .... I stole this idea from Katharina - here!

Dotties been Tagged

Adele set the challenge this week on Dottie's World! It was her first challenge to set and a brilliant one if you ask me... I've copied her words below:

This week I want to see a tag or tags of any shape or size. It could be tag shape toppers, gift tags, tag books....and because hubby and me have just celebrated our wedding anniversary....for an extra Dottie bonus I would love to see some hearts and flowers too!!!

without further words from me... Voila!

My card with a big "tag" on it!

Lou has a new collection out!! ... pretty spooky really ... It's a Halloween collection! Available for Download HERE!

*NB... I took Lou's suggestion of using some ink to distress the edge of the cardboard on the white cardstock! *

Dottie's World!

Well, I was really stoked this week when I received an email from Louly asking me to be a guest designer for Dottie's World this week ... my excitement turned into fear as I realised what I'd got myself in for... The Dottie's World Design team are fabulous and week after week produce amazing works of art for the challenges!! :)

So, Louise's challenge this week on Dottie's world is a double challenge/ a multi-challenge challenge. The idea is to double up with another challenge.

My first card is doubled up with the Friday Sketchers challenge.
I really loved their sketch ... FUN!! :)
I used Maternity Dottie from the Love and Marriage download set
and coloured her in with my watercolour pencils.

the Cute Card Thursday challenge is one I love! Their theme this week is:
"The Two of Us".

This is absolutely perfect for the Dottie and George "Love and Marriage" downloads...

The problem I had was that there are so many perfect images in this collection and so I decided I'd use a whole stack of them for the one card!! I used Louise's pre-coloured images as I wanted to print them quite small and it is a lot harder to colour images when they are scaled down...
*I did add in an image from the Christmas package*

Thanks for looking :)

Dottie's world :: Aperture, Ribbon and Doodles

Well, I have spent the better part of today working on a card for this weeks challenge!
Nicola set a grand challenge this week:

The challenge is
Aperture....Ribbon & Doodles....
Of course it involves using a download from Charmed Cards, then it can be one or more Apertures, one or more ribbons and hand drawn Doodles.

I absolutely LOVE the Design team's cards - get on over and check them out!!

Here's mine:

I really struggled with the card this week!! I have a lot of ruined cardstock and paper.... This was about my third attempt... and even then it's changed a bit... I started off with a pink baby girl card, as you can see - it's now BLUE!!

I just did not like any of them...

I used some plastic from the bags I put my cards in ... and put it behind the aperture to look like glass... Still not happy with it ....

I came back online to read Nicola's post again... I had totally forgotten about the ribbon ...

and so I went back to my desk, ripped off the bloom I had on the front and cut up some ribbon, found the baby eyelets and added some MORE doodling!!

and here you have it - the finished card... Now I'm going to look for my Mojo! Sorry for the looong post!

Dottie's World :: Animal Magic

My sister Nicky is staying the night and we have done a bit of card making... not a lot though as I am sooo tired!! It's a shame as we don't get to craft together very often - living 300km away from each other!!

Only one tonight for me tonight!! --- Just done the Dottie's World Challenge for this week!
Check out the Awesome works of art on there from the Design team!! :)

Thanks for looking!

Dottie's World :: Yukky Paper

Lou did set a big mean green challenge this week on Dottie's World... to use neglected paper:

I want you to dig out those papers that you assigned to the 'never to be used' pile and get crafting with them. You know the ones I mean, you buy a set of beautiful papers but there's always one that you know you'll never use, well today, it's all going to change.

Well this paper has been neglected for at least 4 years... I cut it up to mimic a quilt... of course I had to use my gel pen for some doodling!! lol

Thanks for looking!
