Balon w stylu steampunk od Tracey / Steampunk Hot Air Balloon with Tracey

Hello dear Studio75 fans. It's Tracey back with a new project to share. I altered this amazing Woodouts Balloon Mixed Media Base with mixed media products and a combination of Scrapiniec Chipboard, Mitform Castings metal pieces, moulded shapes and vintage pieces from my stash to create this fabulous steampunk home decor piece. Check out all the details below in the tips and techniques section with lots of close-ups.

Tips and Techniques

 

 To add texture to the background of the Woodouts Balloon Mixed Media Base, I applied plaster paste through the SnipArt Up In the Air Damask Stencil. I just adore this design, and it has become of my favorite go to stencils these days. Once dry I spritzed with blue color mist then a small amount of beige and copper. I also misted with water to help the colors move and blend.

 

I just adore these Mitform Casting pieces. The Steel Padlock piece on the left is from the Studio75 store. The fabulous metal pieces available in the store can be found HERE. I rubbed the metal pieces with brass, bronze, and teal art wax to age with a little patina.

 

 I adore going to a large community yard sale with my sister every year, and I am always on the lookout for items I can use for my art pieces. This cool spark plug is one of my finds. The other metal pieces in this close-up are a combination of bought gears, and bolts along with pieces that I moulded, painted, and waxed to give this vintage patina effect. I also added art wax to the metal parts of the spark plug.

 

 More rusty goodness including rusty washers I've picked up on when I find them laying on the ground when I'm out and about along with vintage keys - another yard sale find.

 

This cool pressure gauge is also one of my finds. Doesn't it fit perfectly into the notch on the Mitform Castings Steel Padlock? A little moulded sprocket on the gauge adds to the steampunk feel.

 

 These fabulous Scrapiniec Chipboard Steampunk Flying Hearts XL Wings are a perfect fit across the Woodouts Balloon! I painted them with a mix of brass and teal paints, then rubbed with metallic art wax to add to the grungy aged metal effect.

 

 The Scrapiniec Focus Small Arrows were a perfect fit around this vintage drawing compass, and also added a few Scrapiniec Confetti Stars below the wings. These chipboard pieces were finished with the same products as the wings. I dyed some cheese cloth with the color mists and to tuck in for added texture. As I glued down the metal elements, the cheesecloth was secured in place. 

I brushed a mix of rusty/patina paints around the metal objects and spritzed with water so that it looks like they have been there and weathered to rust in place.

These faux metal chains are also from the Scrapiniec Steampunk Flying Hearts XL Elements set. Isn't it amazing how paint and waxes can make them look just like aged metal? I used a couple more Mitform Casting pieces to give definition to the balloon basked and added a vintage couple into the opening to enjoy the flight.

 

I used Bambino Glue to adhere beaded texture in place. Because it dries clear, it the perfect adhesive for these little bits of texture.

Męska kartka od Tracey / Masculine Steampunk Card with Tracey

Hi Studio75 fans! It's Tracey back to share a masculine card created for my dad who has a birthday this month. I've featured the fabulous Cherry Blossom collection that includes some great grungy designs that are perfect for masculine projects. I've also used wonderful chipboard pieces from the store.

I enjoy putting personal touches on the cards I create. My dad served in the photomapping division of the Air Force, so the wings are a perfect element. He is also an amateur radio operator enjoying a nickname based on his call letters that includes King George, so I couldn't resist including the crown brad.

Tips and Techniques

The background is prepared by stamping the edges randomly with the Agateria Grill 3 stamp using permanent ink. Next a circle design is stenciled with black distress oxide ink, and then color mist in teal.

This Scrapiniec Chained Wings Chipboard piece is painted with metallic paint and rubbed with several colors of wax to give a shimmery metallic finish. I've also added cogs for dimension.

Liczne tekturki pomalowałam metaliczną farbą oraz podkreśliłam dodatkowo woskiem.



The Journey sentiment is a metal piece from my stash. I've heat embossed Artistiko Cogs with aged silver embossing enamel and rubbed with art wax in teal. The title fits perfectly across the two cogs.


An arrow from the Scrapiniec Focus Collection which is finished with the same techniques as the cogs.


Scrapiniec Confettie Stars are heat embossed and scattered across the background. The metal elements are painted with metallic paints and rubbed with art wax in gold, silver, and teals.
Gwiazdki zembossowałam , a elementy metalowe także pomalowałam metaliczną farbą i woskami.

Beaded texture is adhered with Bambino Glue.

Industrial Steampunk Card with Tracey / Industrialna kartka od Tracey

I adore the grungy papers in the Cherry Blossom Collection which are so wonderful for masculine projects. I created this card for our son-in-law's birthday. He had his first book published this past year, so I stamped the background with a vintage typewriter patent image to celebrate his special accomplishment. Don't you just adore how perfectly this fabulous paper works with the vintage image and industrial/steampunk elements?

Tips and Techniques

I have arranged a selection of masculine metal elements and resin wings, with larger items toward the center working outward with smaller items to give movement so your eye moves across the card.

The elements are brushed with copper and patina paints, then spritzed with water so it looks like they have weathered onto the card.

 

Grid marks are stenciled onto the background with white gold paste.

 A close-up to see how wonderfully this paper works with the grungy texture.

 This chain from the Scrapiniec Flying Hearts Chipboard Set combines perfectly with the other elements. It is also painted with copper and patina paint, then rubbed with copper art wax to give a vintage metallic look.
Elementy tekturowe ze Scrapińca pomalowałam miedzianą farbą, następnie podkreśliłam miedzianym woskiem dla nadania starociowego wyglądu. 

 

 These Scrapiniec Confetti Chipboard Stars are painted the same way as the chain.
Tekturki pomalowałam w ten sposób co gwiazdki.

 

 One final close-up to see the grungy texture. Little seed beads and microbeads are adhered with Bambino Glue.
Na koniec posypałam mikrokulki na klej Bambino.

Vintage Steampunk Canvas with Einat

Z tej strony Einat żeby inspirować Was z nowym projektem. Uwielbiam kolekcję Pan i Pani Black. Tak bardzo ją uwielbiam, że zainspirowała mnie do stworzenia płótna w stylu vintage.

Einat here with a new project to inspire you. I just love the Mrs & Mr paper collection. So much so it has inspired me to create a vintage looking canvas. 

Do mojego płótna dodałam dwie ramki i ozdobiłam je dużą ilością tekturek i metalowych dodatków w stylu stempunk. Dodałam też odrobinkę koloru morskiego do płótna, żeby było bardziej kolorowe i miało więcej głębi.

I added two frames to my canvas and embellished it with lots of chipboard and metal steampunk themed items. I also added a little teal and copper colors to the canvas to make it a little more colorful and add depth. 

Pracę wykończyłam metalicznymi farbami i dwoma starymi zdjęciami dzieci. 

I completed the look with metallic paints and two vintage images of kids.
