Favourite Colour Duo (DT) As You Like It Challenge

Whoo-hoo!! It's the start of the 2021 challenges with the AS YOU LIKE IT CHALLENGE!

So, to kick off the year, our first theme is
Your Favourite Colour Duo (and please explain why)

I like lots of colour duos, and use them in phases, but it always comes back to the same one - brown and turquoise - I love the earthy, warm, tones of the brown contrasted by the bright, ethereal, sky quality of the blue.  Land and sky is what is comes down to, I am a squirrel of the soil.

So, I have used
CC Designs : Roberto's Rascals Hearts To You
MFT DieNamics : Sending You Hugs - MFT-1888
MFT 6x6 paper : Party Plaid
Trimcraft First Edition 8x8 paper : Wild At Heart
Nancy has been painted with Distress Inks (ReInkers)

The sponsor for this challenge is

Looking forward to hearing all about your favourite colour duo choice.

Summer or Autumn (DT) As You Like It

Here we are again, another alternate Thursday which brings a challenge from AS YOU LIKE IT.

This time our theme is Summer or Autumn (your choice, but please explain)

I'm not a huge fan of summer (surprising really as I was born slap bang in the middle of it, today in fact) as I struggle with the intense heat.  I much prefer the more mellow days of autumn, the warmth is kinder, the light is softer, and I love the rich tones of the foliage changing from green to gold.  I don't even mind the evenings getting shorter, it's nice to be able to close the curtains on the world and be safe and snug indoors.

I have used Playful Henry from CC Designs.  The stamp is no longer available but you can get him as a digi.
I stamped Henry and his leaves onto kraft card and coloured the leaves with Polychromos pencils.  I stamped Henry again onto watercolour paper, colouring him with Distress Inks (ReInkers) and Zig Clean Colour Pens, fussy cut him, and laid him over the previously stamped outline.
For the leaves, I got messily inky with some Distress Inks and then die-cut with some Lawn Fawn stitched dies.
The sentiment stamps are a Whimsy set.
Finally, some matting and layering with autumn tones of plain papers.

I do hope you will find time to come and join us.

Margarita Time (DT) Dies To Die For

Hello everyone, how are you this morning?  I hope you are all keeping safe and well.

In these difficult times, I wouldn't mind betting that people are drinking
more at home, if I did drink then I think I would have the odd glass too but these
days booze makes me fall over, so the strongest you will see me with is a
weak lager shandy on a hot summer's day!

Ingredients used:

I have watercoloured the image with Zig Clean Color pens and fussy cut her.  I must have a
steadier hand than I realised as I didn't even cut the cherry off by mistake!

As You Like It Challenge (DT) Animals or People

Good morning everyone, is it Thursday?  I hope it is, the days are a blur, even with home-working, so I admit that I am all a bit vague, as I suspect the rest of you are too!

The highlight of my week has been the delivery of my computer mouse from the office.
I have used a track-ball mouse for about ten years now as I was getting horrible shoulder pain from a normal mouse, and a normal mouse was all we had at home.  I toyed with the idea of buying a new one, but Toad wouldn't use it afterwards, so I held on until I knew some other equipment was being dropped off - and now I have my beloved mouse back with me and, hopefully, that will help to sort out the aches and pains that have surfaced during the three weeks of being sat at a desk in the back bedroom home office.  I am referring to this set-up as the Twig Office, because it is so much smaller than a Branch.

Anyhoo, you didn't come over to hear me rambling, you came over for news of the
and this time our theme is Animals or People (please remember to tell us about your choice)

Not so long ago, you would not have seen a card from me without an animal on it unless I had used a Magnolia Tilda or a Lili of The Valley kid, but since then the wonderful Birdie Brown has entered my life and I absolutely adore her little people.  A close second are the quirky characters from CC Designs Roberto's Rascals, especially Twila and Nancy.  Looking back over the past year of makes, there are far more people than there are animals, so I have gone with people as my favourite for this challenge.

There is such a thing as taking colour coordination too far!

I have used this cute little girl from the CC Designs Surprise!!! stamp set
and coordinated her with some very bright and citrus-y papers from Sunny Studio Summer Splash which are available in the UK from Dies To Die For HERE.
Coloured up with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens and a waterbrush

Dancing (DT) Dies To Die For

Morning all, sorry that I am a bit later than usual but I had to have a lay-in to tell the difference between weekdays and the weekend.  This home-working lark has messed with my head a bit, and that's without all the connectivity issues of the week!

So, what are you doing for exercise while you are trapped at home?
I'm not a great one for jogging or gym work, but I do love a boogie, so I have been dancing around in the kitchen to the radio - good job we are not overlooked by the neighbours too much.

I did once have a chap in the next road ask why we got up so early - I asked how he knew - from his house he apparently can see our kitchen window so knew when the light went on.  Hopefully his view wasn't good enough to see in as we never did replace the rollerblind that fell to pieces.

Anyhoo, today's card - this could be me, but I suspect I don't look anywhere near this cute when I'm shuffling around.

This dancing queen was coloured with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens and then fussy cut.
Papers are a pad of watercolour effect that I picked up in Hobbycraft.

So that's me for today.  Please keep safe and well and listen to the right advice.

As You Like It (DT) Favourite Lettering

Helloo!  Here we are again at another Thursday, and how is it the end of August already?
Well you know by now that alternate Thursdays are AS YOU LIKE IT
challenge days, and this time our theme for you is
Your Favourite Lettering Style

I love to add text to a card, there are so many incredible sentiment stamps, in different fonts and for different occasions, and then there are statement dies with one or two big words, but I really like to combine the two, this is my favourite style of the moment.

Painted with Distress Inks (ReInkers)
and a Martha Stewart border punch for that little bit of detail

As You Like It (DT) Favourite Season

Morning all, hope you are well this fine and sunny (hopefully) Thursday.  Here we are at the end of September and it is still t-shirt warm, amazing.

Which brings me nicely to the new challenge over as AS YOU LIKE IT and the theme is
Favourite Season.

It's a toss up between Spring and Autumn for me, Winter is too dark and (certainly this year) Summer is far too hot.  I love the mellow richness of this time of year, the colours, the smells, apples, blackberries and pears, and I don't even mind the shorter evenings so long as I can get home in daylight!

Orange matting layers and leaves coloured with Apricot Copic
and I think the leaf dies are Marianne Designs but have long since lost the packaging

Henry has been painted with Distress Inks (ReInkers) as watercolours.

The sponsor of this challenge is a £20 voucher from
Fantastic Ribbons

Breakfast (DT) Dies To Die For

Happy Saturday everyone!  Well, this has been a week of treats, lots of nibbles out and about, and this morning a leisurely breakfast, which is why I'm now covered in crumbs and smears of jam.

Yes, I am a messy breakfaster, but then so are these two cheekies, just look at that floor - my mother would be out with the vacuum immediately!

A small but tasty little card

Painted with Distress Inks (ReInkers) used as watercolours and
Polychromos Pencils for those impossible hairstyles!

Coffee you say?  I'm now coming.....

Surprise! (DT) Dies To Die For

Well actually, it's probably not much of a surprise to find me here again,
it is a Saturday after all

However, this is a bit more of a surrrrrrrrrrrrrrr-priiii-iiiiise!

( I know it says Party, but the more I look at it, the more it looks like Pasty )

So for this party on a card I have used

Those little Rascals are painted with Distress Inks (ReInkers) and Polychromos Pencils
and I have just used some generic red card for that pop of colour

Have a super scorcher of a weekend, and hopefully some playtime

Hugs

Sue's Birthday Wish (DT) Dies To Die For

Morning all, hope you are ok and ready (in the UK) for another sunny weekend!
I'm off for a tail trim and colour this morning, then scampering back for the British GP qualifying, and then hopping over to France for the start of three weeks with my boys in lycra!

Anyhoo, I have popped in, as is usual at this time on a Saturday, to share my DTDF make with you and it's a birthday celebration today

It's a typical Squirrel CAS card but I think that really suits the fabulous image
and the big sentiment
and because it is CAS there are only a few ingredients

I have painted the stamped image with Distress Inks (ReInkers) used as watercolours and her hair has had the helping hand of Polychromos Pencils

Baker Nancy (DT) Dies To Die For

Anyone for a slice?  Just look at the size of that cake.
I imagine it to be filled with big, fat and juicy, English summer strawberries.
Yum!

Morning all, I am a wee bit on the drag this morning, even with this ridiculous heat (can you tell I'm not a huge fan of summer temperatures) I managed to oversleep.  Oh well, it will go a little way towards making up for the Mon-Fri early starts.  Anyhoo, I am here to share a very industrious young lady with you.  I bet she was slaving over a hot oven to get this one made in time.

And the items used for this make are:

Image is painted with Distress Inks (ReInkers) and I have used a variety of the cold grey Polychromos for her hair.  I do seem to have an addiction to these Rascals, and black hair does seem (to me anyway) to give them a slightly cheekier look!

What are your plans for the weekend?
Toad has popped out for some essentials (iced coffee and carrots), Rosie is (stupid animal) out in the conservatory snoring (don't worry, I am keeping a very close eye on her) and I'm doing domestic stuff like feeding the washing machine and roasting a gammon joint.  At least I have the Austrian GP to look forward to.  Ok then, I am off to rummage through the dvd collection to find something for this evening as telly is crap.  Anyone would think it was the World Cup.

Have a wonderful weekend all

Hugs

Best Friends (DT) DTDF

Hello peeps, how are we all today?  Ready for the weekend?  I'm not sure what to do first, there is a pile of chores waiting to be done, sigh.  Ah, what the heck, I think I shall get inky later instead.

As an only child, I really do treasure my friends, and friends are always
a fabulous reason for making a card, it doesn't matter if there is no actual occasion, just being able
to celebrate having wonderful friends is enough surely?!

DTDF (DT) Nancy Gardens

I am fretting about our grass, if it doesn't get cut soon I may never be able to get out of the back door.  Toad intended to cut it last weekend, but no sooner had he mentioned it and it poured with rain.  Sigh.  I guess he knows what job he will be attempting later today!

I bet Nancy doesn't have that problem, after all, she was born to garden.

Right then, the yummy stuff

Nancy and the Tweet flowers are painted with Distress Inks (ReInkers) with some
Polychromos Pencils to help detail her hair a little.

Speaking of hair, I am off for a tail trim now.  Maybe I should just lay down on the lawn.

Hugs to all

DTDF (DT) Hoola Twila

Hello peeps, I'm here today with a little bit of happy for you

I do have a real soft spot for the Roberto's Rascals characters, especially this
cheeky little girl, Twila - there is just something so absolutely joyful about her, whatever
she is doing, and she always makes me smile - I hope she will do it for you too!

So, the things I have used:

Twila has been painted with Distress Inks (ReInkers) with Polychromos detail for her hair.

Whatever you are up to, have a wonderful weekend!  We are off to visit my Oldies in a little while, then dashing back for me to make a "Somerset Pork Casserole" for dinner, and watch the F1 qualifying for the China Grand Prix.  In there somewhere I intend to have a good inky session!

Four Seasons (DT) DTDF

Hello chaps, sorry I am late this morning, we have been dashing about all over the place today and I completely forgot about my post.  Still, better late than never hey?

So for this colourful little number I have used

I cut down the Collage die to make a square
Image coloured with Distress Inks (ReInkers) and Polychromos Pencils

The 2018 F1 season starts today (wheeeeeeeeeeeee) and I am super excited, as always.
Will be sitting down shortly with a sausage roll and a latte to watch the Qualifying, even though I do already know the top three placings.

Have a super weekend everyone

AYLI (DT) Favourite Die

I'm scheduling this post for Thursday and our new challenge over at AS YOU LIKE IT - I hope by then we might have had a little bit of sunshine because, seriously, I am starting to feel like a mole with all this darkness.

Darkness is my excuse for a not very good photo this week, I had to take it under artificial light, which never gives a true reading of colour.

Anyhoo, our theme for this fortnight is FAVOURITE DIE (and why).  This was so difficult, it was like asking me to choose my favourite pet, impossible.  I use a lot of stitched effect dies, and I absolutely love these double stitched ones, they just finish the image panel off beautifully.  This simple square is one of my most used.

So, the things I have used to make this are:
Painted with Distress Inks (ReInkers) and Polychromos Pencils
Die-Namics Double Stitched Square Stax
Not sure about the border die, so if anyone could shed light on that I'd be grateful
LOTV: Circular Sentiment stamp
Die-Namics Stitched Circle Stax
Tonic dies (it's a scalloped frame from within a set (label long gone)
MFT 6x6 Dots & Stripes
Lilac cardstock from Rymans

and our generous sponsor for this challenge is

Lawn Fawn

Prize:

That's all from me folks.
Hugs
