hot / iced

L - Nikon / T - iphone

No this isn't an advertisement, but we do like our Starbucks.
My mom asked me to look through my photos for some painting reference. (she's been asked to paint some pictures to hang in a doctor's office) but as I was looking for something I realized that just because something makes a interesting photo doesn't mean it will make a good painting. I really didn't find anything suitable. / today no class, no tests - freedom to read what i want - at least for a month. i will be going to school the summer semester for two classes and then i am finished for good. mom asked me how that felt... i told her its terrifying really.

day 3 - neighborhood

L - iphone / T - iphone

I think she's right, some photos don't lend themselves to being cropped so narrow. But what do you think - which format is best?
Notice the Bradford Pear trees are in bloom already. Last week the highs were in the mid 70s, tomorrow we're supposed to have a freeze warning - I think it's only the second one we've had this winter.

so true

solo post - L, iphone pic at work

I took a break and walked over to Starbucks around 3 today (about a 5 minute walk in the brisk cold air). I got a London Fog Tea Latte. Have you had one yet? It's my new favorite afternoon drink. So good. The quote on my cup was perfect. So true.
"Success in life is that your kids want to spend time with you once they've grown up." - Paul Orfalea (founder of Kinko's)

I think right now I don't feel completely "successful" in this regard but she's not really grown up yet either is she? It doesn't count yet does it? I mean, as long as she's in school I don't think it's the coolest thing to spend a weekend with your mom. There are much more appealing offers coming her way. I do feel blessed however - T and I have a wonderfully close and open relationship and I cherish that more than anything in this world. When she chooses to spend time with me, over her friends, now that's pure joy.

segments / dividing my time

Nikon D40x / phone pic

I have a question... How do you prepare your grapefruit for eating? Every year at Christmas we get a huge box of pink grapefruit as a gift - they are SO delicious and we look forward to this shipment each year. So at Christmas, when we are all together, we serve up grapefruit for breakfast. Sometimes I am the one preparing the grapefruit and sometimes it's my mom who does it. She cuts hers one way and I cut mine another way. She claims her way is better - sometimes even saying my way is "wrong" - kidding of course. This morning I tried it her way - cutting all the way around the half, separating the pulp from the skin and then cutting from the center to the outside, separating each triangle segment. It's probably the proper way, but I prefer my way. I cut each individual triangle segment leaving the membrane attached to the skin. I think I just like the repetition of it - going around each triangle, one by one -then I put a little sugar on it. Does it really matter? : ) How ever you slice it up, it taste delicious! / today it was so mild outside - it felt good to be outdoors at my neighborhood starbucks again. before i start dividing up all my time to spend with everyone on my list i took a little time to just be with myself and my drawing journal and my favorite starbucks drink - soy chai latte, no water. it was nice.

reading / listening

When I picked up this book I didn't know that it was the last of a series. hahaha (I've never read the others) but it seems like it holds together on it's own (I'm not very far in to it). At work we have a "library" of books that people bring in and I needed something to read today so I chose this - The Careful Use of Compliments. I make sure I get outside for a short break everyday. We have a beautiful courtyard to sit in and on a day like today of course I can't resist. OH the breeze, the sun - perfect... looks like she had the same idea / just had to have a starbucks today between classes. i try to limit my visits there through the week but it was just so nice out i couldn't resist. chai soy latte please, and on my ipod: dear ms. leading by the dear hunter, this is it, this is it by as cities burn, jesus christ by brand new, act appalled by circa survive, don't let them see you cry by manchester orchestra
What was your last favorite read? / What's on your ipod?
