All I'm saying is, if Power Man And Iron Fist #81 (1982) has been used as the basis for a crossover story, the Luke Cage and Iron Fist shows would never have been cancelled by Netflix.
Because as fine as the two seasons of Luke Cage were, they never had this:
Some guy tried to kill Luke with a forklift!!
Not only is it a brilliant scene in and of itself, but it ties in with Mystery Science Theater 3000, which is now a Netflix show--total corporate synergy!!
Next, a scene an Iron Fist series should have had:
"Lousy speech. Good moves, though." Yeah one of the Iron Fist seasons really could have used a bit where Danny takes down a white boy wannabe who thinks he the shit because he watched Bruce Lee movies and listens to Wu-Tang Clan.
Finally, the scene that would have definitely saved both series. Danny and Luke are in the the nation of Halwan, when they stumble upon the king's harem:
Yup, Luke and Danny dressed as women, dancing for the king, would have meant that Netflix could never, ever consider canceling the shows!!

Nobody Laughs At Mr. Fish!!
The moat important thing about this cover...
...is this word balloon here.
Because on the splash page...
...they repeat it for us.
And when we finally meet the titular Mr. Fish?
...they reiterate it one more time!!
The funny thing is, though, that nobody--not a single solitary person--laughs at Mr. Fish the entire story.
A few tears are shed, though...
...maybe it was the fish who were laughing?

The Pyrrhic Victory of Power Man Vs. Power Man!!
A couple of months ago, we discussed how Luke Cage picked the hero name Power Man.
Someone wasn't too happy about that:
This was one of the first comics I had, before I even started collecting them, and boy did I read the hell outta this book.
The old school Power Man is terrorizing the theater where Luke hangs his hat, calling him out to fight over the sobriquet:
We begin with some baseball-related preliminaries...
We're on to the main event, Friday Night Fights-style!!
The funny thing, after that dust-up, and the dire threat, well, Luke eventually just gave up using the Power Man name, and Eric Josten moved on to other names. So, really, a big ol' fight about nothing. Which is exactly what 85% of 1970s comic books were all about.
Oh, and don't worry--Luke didn't forget the little girl he asked to wait outside:
Now that's a hero!!

The Lady Or The Puppet?!?
Power Man has replaced Ben Grimm in the Fantastic Four! The Puppet Master has used his magic/science clay to take control of Luke Cage, having him a) kidnap Alicia, b) steal the Fantasticar, and c) bust him out of prison!
But Reed invented an exo-skeleton for Ben!! And now he's battling Power Man atop the Fantasticar!!
Goddamn, I love this comic book. Is it any wonder I was hooked?
