RECIPE and SUPPLIES:
  • aqua Recollection card stock which was cut to 5.75 x 5.5 inches
  • fishie background is from my stash and chalked around the edges
  • Ava Mermaid from Bugaboo Digital Stamps was colored with Whisper Stroke Markers, Prisma Markers, Spectrum Noir Markers with gel accents
  • an additional layer of fishie paper was glued to her back along with you'll never guess what - a WOBBLE!!! She's swimming "under the sea" . . . . . now, not only will I be singing that all day but you will also
  • treasure chests were cut using Life's a Party Cricut Cartridge and are left open to store "Pirate's treasure!!!!
  • 1/8 of an inch black Darice Satin Ribbon was glued around the edges of my chest and Queen & Co Sunflower pearls for accents
  • sentiment, "Advice from a Mermaid - make a wish upon a starfish", had been a previous freebie from  Create with TLC  which has rounded corners
  • now, if you're like me and have seen Disney's The Little Mermaid, you know of all the treasures and things that she cherished - here I have a crown, comb, mirror and tea pot and all of the charms are from Miriam's Crafting Supplies (what a wonderful source!)
  • fish and coral are stickers from a package of Package Decorations which are acid free
  • sea shells are Darice Stickerz which are on either side of the sentiment
I thank you for stopping by and visiting today. Don't forget to showcase your project on Scrapbook Blessing Club to enter in the Challenge!!! It's anything goes with no size restrictions with the only restriction of that being your imagination . . . . let your imagination run wild!!!! I can't wait to see your creations! AND did I mention if you use a Box Easel Card as your creation it counts as an extra submission - WIN/Win!!!

I've made this for my adorable granddaughter, Lily. When she was little, she couldn't say "Arial" for the Little Mermaid and called her swimmy - thus here is "Swimmy" for Lily.

. . . .and let's sing along!!!

Susy B's Blooming Challenge Blog: Happy Birthday to You

The secret is outta the bag - I've been asked to be part of Suzy B's Blooming Challenge Blog where she has weekly challenges with wonderful prizes. This is my first post with her Design Team!!!!

This week's sponsor is Stitchy Bear and I have used Stitchy Bear Birthday Word Art for my creation . . .

RECIPE:
  • background of card was made using Cricut Life's a Party Cartridge which was inspired by Paper Pasttimes of a Scrapping Mimi: Just a Note for Mom. I must admit after looking at her card, the image on page 48 looks more like a baby grand piano than anything else I can think of - what do you think???
  • image was accented with red gel pen with an oval cut as it's mat which was placed on my "piano" with a wobble to make it look like it's actually playing or singing or . . . . ok, my imagination is in overdrive!!!
  • keys for the piano were cut following Paper Pasttimes cutting instructions - white keys were cut 2 by 1.25 inches with the black keys cut 1.5 x 1.25 inches and then foam-taped onto the keyboard after I had chalked around the edges
  • border was cut using Cricut Elegant Edges Cartridge Border on page 29 along with its shadow and also foam-taped onto the keyboard after I had chalked around the edges
I thank you for stopping by and visiting today. Don't forget to showcase your project on Susy B's Blooming Challenge Blog this week to enter in the Challenge!!! It's anything goes with no size restrictions . . . . let your imagination run wild!!!!

Shhhhh . . . . can I tell you a secret but you promise not to tell - this was my first card actually but I had to do another - can you tell why???

I appreciate and love reading your comments . . is your comment the next one I read???

Much love, hugs, and friendship

Day 1: September 3, 2011

First off, I would like to welcome you to Susan's Anything Goes Birthday Bash and with me being the first stop on the hop! I am Susan's co-host as we were teasing, the hostess with the mostest  .... Now, let's get this party started!

Well, Susan, has become a great friend of mine and since I have been teasing her that since she wants to be a princess when she grows up I just needed to give her the "royal treatment"! She, of course need to have a birthday hat and what better hat, than a royal crown! This pretty little crown was cut from Once Upon a Princes and glittered up with rhinestones and Stickles not to mention it's adjustable for those big hair days.

Now, every princess needs a wand to rule her kingdom or sprinkle fairy dust. This wand was also cut from the Once Upon a Princess at 8-inches.

Now, what birthday party doesn't have cake with candles. Make a wish and blow out the candles! This dimensional cake was cut from Life's a Party which has some fantastic 3-dimensional cuts for all types of parties. I again, used the Stickles and was told once I played with them I wouldn't want anything else --- well, they're right and I have sparkled everything in my dining room!!! When these dimensional center pieces are cut out, they are only one (1) color, sew, I colored the candles with my markers and again play with my stickles! The best part of this cake is that is calorie-free!

Now, on to the presents!!!! (My favorite part of course!) On Love to Crop, Amy had a project that was a box card which I love!!!!. This is my second box card that I have made and am quite pleased with the end results! It would be sew much better with a Score Pad but considering I don't have one in my possession (HINT HINT HINT), I improvised with my quilt rulers, mats, and my paper piecing pressing tool! The belly band has a lacey circle cut from my Essentials which is a built-in cartridge on my E2. Tinkerbell (oops Tink must have had a ward drobe malfunction as heaven forbid she doesn't have  her trademark green dress) cut from Classic Disney (cut at 3-3/4-inches) on the top has left Susan a bit of fairy dust and chocolate --- oops bad Tinkerbell for eating the chocolate!!! One outta two ain't bad!!! Tink has been shaded with my colored pencils and yes, Stickles and I have become great friends as she even has Stickles!!!

Don't forget to stop and wish Susan a very Happy Birthday!!!! Well, hope you enjoyed the start of Susan's party --- now, lets move this party to Amber's blog.

Before you leave though, I do have some candy for you that Tinkerbell hasn't gotten to. There is a Disney Tinkerbell cut at 6-inches that you too can have some pixie dust and love! I just ask that you leave some bloggie love. I sew love to hear what you think!!!

God Bless all and Happy Birthday Susan!
Love and Hugs
Lynne
