JAY COUNCE AND THE GAVOONS - COVER THE HITS - a RAMONES tribute SPLIT

 

back in the 90s Jay Counce was playing guitar in a band named "Sexboy" , I was the singer.Jay decided one day in 2013 that we should do a Ramones tribute split,and I said ok.He sent me his completed songs (altough I had to change the sample rate to get them to upload!) ,back in 2013,I had started a new band The Gavoons ,as kind of a follow up to Sexboy,maintaining the punk,raw,aggression,and sound.Jay's tracks are really good and polished ,The Gavoons tracks are raw ,one take,punk as fuck,with all bruises and warts.Art by ramonescomics ,back cover by Greay Meatballs.Jay is a great guitarist and all around musician,I believe he said his brother plays drums,possibly on here? I dunno,he might pop in and comment one day.Right now he's in the hospital with nerve damage to his left arm,and hopefully will not need surgery! THE DONNAS/TOILET BOYS split 7"

The Donnas ,towards the end of their existence ,sounding much like the Runaways and Kiss ,and other 70's hard rock outfits ,meet the Toilet Boys ,who also favor the sound of 70's styled hard rock ,put this split out thru Lookout Records back in 1999. I like the Donnas ,but I prefer the early stuff ,when they were aping the Ramones.The Toilet Boys ,well,I've never seeked out any of their other stuff ,so I can't really speak on them,other than to say ,their lead singer looks like a girl ,but is not! This is pretty rockin' though! On pure white vinyl (see pics in zip)

CAT MACHINE -Felching Pat Harrington Jr.

Just try to come up with a more disgusting thought,than the title of this album.I included 2 different cover arts,cuz I could'nt decide on one.This tape ,from January 15th,1991,features special guests ,Chuck Connell,Vance Burdge,Chris Nicholson (R.I.P.),and Pizza Breath,in addition to the core trio of Ed,Tony, and Joel.Chuck has his own little section here,with ,"Chuck's Corner",and Chris sing/talks on ,"Shrimp Circus" , and "Fizz Fazz(Sausage)".A few spoken pieces,with all of us talking,and some rap/hip-hop on ,"Battle Of The Rock Lords",and the debut of "Cat Machine Is In The Haus".Covers of Ramones and Jefferson Bullshit,at end.,I would'nt download it tho',because this underground,outsider,unknown,cult-band,is one of the worst bands that ever played.And I mean best when I say worst.Recorded straight to boombox,in FT.Myers,FL,at Cat Machine House.

BEATNIK TERMITES/SHOCK TREATMENT -split single

The Beatnik Termites ,from Ohio,do an original and a Beach Boys cover.Shock Treatment,from Spain,do an original and a Josie Cotton cover.The Ramones graphics are used,but no actual Ramones songs are here.Pop-punk in the style of the day(1995) on Insubordination Records.

PART-TIME CRIPPLE-backyard guitar

A recent find,this old black man,who plays a punk -style blues acoustic guitar,from West Memphis.Found this tape abandoned in an airport locker.His real name is ,"Blind "Stanky" Frankie","(the Toothless Wonder)". He does have one tooth in his head ,tho.So,he does a Ramones cover,a Crumbs cover,and three originals about,Wal-mart,Steve Mcqueen,and,horoscopes of people at work that suck.There is some more tape,but I have to repair it.Lots more good stuff to come.True outsider music.

FUCK-rehearsal for european tour

This is, Mad Asshole,Big Black Cock,and Shaggy Dick,doing a quick run-thru on the set list,before boarding a plane,to begin the European leg of their world tour,back in 1992-93.Terrorist rock,heavy stuff,the ski mask is our defense,against the harsh outside world.Lots of covers of:Sonic Youth,GG Allin,the Ramones,the Simpletones,Toegazer,and Black Flag.as well as a healthy dose of Fuck's own original songs.Recorded at Morrisound Studios,in Tampa,after which we headed for our plane at Tampa Airport.
