SLUGGISHA'S XMASTRAVAGANZA #9 - 2017

For the 9th year in a row,the annual Xmastravaganza compilation is here from Sluggisha! This year 33 bands,perform 47 songs! Nearly 2 full hours of the best xmas music of this year! As per usual ,The Dricore Show,on WCSB,Cleveland ,Ohio ,will be featuring this compilation on their Christmas episode,which will be on Wednesday into Thursday (December 20/21),and everyone is encouraged to call in and comment,or request a song,or be interviewed ,if you sent a song in for this!Don't call til after midnite on Wednesday ,(Thursday very early A.M. .like 12:30 or whatever!)Front cover art by Food Fortunata,back cover and layout by Gray Meatballs ,music compiled by G O D .Thanks to all who support Sluggisha ,and all the folks who contributed music and art to this comp.(pay no attention to the track listing on the pop out player at archive . org) Here is the band/track list in order:

There's punk,noise,parodies,experimental,tardcore,and so much more! A couple of compadres from South America,2 factions of the Canadian Chachi On Acid faction(and more kanucks as well!),some of the Seasonal Men's Wear/Brown Bear Records dudes,a radio dj from Sorrysota,I mean from Florida,to Washington,From New Jersey to Brazil,From the Great White North to the Mid-West,we're all over the map here,as are the music styles! Punk goes xmas with covers of bands like:The Sex Pistols,Flipper,Fang,The Smiths(okay,not punk),The world debut of Grob as Frank Sinatra(kinda punk)The Tijuana Brass(definitely not punk),Wall Of Voodoo (kinda new-wave),and also classic xmas carols barely recognizable,and new carols for the future generations ,such as the 6-pack of new xmas ditties from the tardcore super-duo ,Z.A.T.H.!! SEASONAL MEN'S WEAR - Septovember

My pal ,Jake (via Food Fortunata),and his band ,who have appeared on a few Wheelchair Full Of Old Men compilations,and release their own recordings,apparently based on the seasons of the year.This is obviously about the Autumn season.Maybe in the fall,Jake will send in the Spring cd ,for posting!Pretty well-played acoustic guitar numbers(And one experimental piece,about Halloween,which sounds un-like anything else on this e.p.),with hilarious lyrics.Jake was also on the Food interview on WCSB,a few months back.This kinda reminds me of some prime Boy In Love,before they went electric.Look for them at myspace,and a video on youtube!Can't wait to hear what Jake sends in next! SOCKEYE - A Year In The Live

Compiled completely from live appearances,in the year 1989,mostly in Ohio,but I see a West Virginia gig listed ,as well.Sprinkled with interview segments(and live on radio songs!) from WCSB,with Mike Kole.There's a slew of songs here that Sockeye never officially recorded or released.There's a version of ,"Mushroom Gravy" ,here that sounds totally different than what eventually came out.A lot of bands are covered:MDC ,Fang,Scratch Acid,Butthole Surfers,CCR,Lynyrd Skynyrd,Ism,Flipper,GG Allin,Feederz,and Jimi Hendrix.A really cool document,of a really cool band.This was WC029,back in the good ole days.

AN INTERVIEW WITH FOOD FORTUNATA OF WHEELCHAIR RECORDS - 1/5/11 -WCSB,CLEVELAND -THE OLDE TYME DRICORE SHOW

Food is interviewed about Wheelchair and the 500th release.I was a guest on the show(talked about this here blog,yr. reading,now!) ,as well as the Mike from Sludgesicle Records,Stan Bowman of Reality Impaired Records in MO,and a few other insiders.A lot of music from the label is played,and a good time is had by all!Thanks to Food,The Olde Tyme Dricore Family Hour Show,WCSB,Orin Gubkin,and all who participated.It was fun!In 2 parts.Art by Food from Noah Lyon's Retard Riot minizine,Oct.2010 edition,where Food's art was alongside greats like Winston Smith and Mudboy.

SOCKEYE -Saint Retard

I didn't have enough time to announce,that this morning, about 1:30 A.M.,est,Food Fortunata was interviewed on WCSB radio ,a Cleveland,OH ,college station.I was able to join in the conversations,and plug this here blog,and talk about the WC 500 comp.(posted just below this!),and the guy from Sludgesicle Records was on the line ,too!As well as a few other insiders.I only stuck around for about an hour or so,I don't know what happened when I left,but it was on the Dri core show,and I'm hoping to get a copy of it ,so you all can hear it ,as well! Sockeye (and other Wheelchair Full Of Old Men artists) , had their music played,and discussed the label,and it's 500th release,and Sockeye ,at length.A good time was had by all,I was up for 21 hours by the time I dropped off the phoneline. Anyway,to celebrate this memorable occasion,I give you this,rejected tracks from two sessions,recorded for the Retards Hiss Past My Windows album.Some classic hits,albeit,re-done versions,and some tunes you may have not heard ,as of yet!There are covers of GKH, The Poops,and ZZ Top.Great stuff ,as per usual.
