ARTHUR MCBRATNEY - The Lost Tapes

Arthur ,older brother to Patrick ,of Lava Church Records, recorded all these snippets and songs ,over the years. There are seconds long drum beat pieces ,and up to 14 minute noise jams. Many musical genres are explored ,from New-Order-ish keyboardy things ,to ska to hardcore ,to metal ,to pensive ,somber ,and quieter pieces. A 2 disc journey into the mind of a mentor (to Li'l bro Patrick ,and now maybe to many other folks out there!) ,and it's interesting and always moving ,and makes for great listening in any kind of weather situation! There's also some great liner notes in the zip ,Patrick's note to his brother, which is touching. I've had it on my mp3 player for a week ,and there it will stay til' I am satisfied! Thanks Patrick and Arthur!

There are covers of The Cars and Alvin Lee's Love ,on this outing! The songs have a cohesive bluesy feel ,laid on top of indie-punk ,alt-rock foundations. Some really fine experimental arrangements ,and furious drumming on our home made drum kit!Recorded 12/10/1991 at Cat Machine House ,20 years ago today! Ed,Joel,& Chipmonk thank all of you ,for downloading ,and enjoying their bedroom punk music ,college rock ,to be sure. They only wish for more comments ,and thank those who have commented! A few days after this we formed the band "Stimpy" ,a noisy jazz combo ,which can be found elsewheres on this blog. fuk u h8rs!

CANNONBALL ADDERLY - Cyclops b/w Shake A Lady

The fine , fat , flabbergasting saxophone of Nat "Cannonball" Adderly , who is fine ,fat ,and flabbergasting himself! "Cyclops" ,a jazzy soulful hymn to the smaller version of you ,that lives in your pants ,and "Shake A Lady" ,the wife-beaters theme song ,are both prime examples of martinis in motion! I'm on my third of the evening , so far , and this record makes me wanna jump around and act like a spastic freaktard! "Balls" above ,below ,and right here!! Not a co-winky-dink!

BUCKY CRAWFORD - Red , White And The Blues + Red , White And The Blues On 45 !

This is one of those great albums that you can play at different speeds, and it sounds good either way! If you listen to "On 45" first ,you'll wonder how it could possibly be any slower ,sounding like a rockabilly/jazz instrumental combo. If you listen to the 33 rpm version first ,you'll feel the blues vibe kickin' you in the back of your head! And you'll be wanting to lift out of that bluesy fog ,so kick on the 45 rpm version ,and start livin' ,boy!Keyboardist ,Bucky , is compared to Fats Waller on the back of this lp (they mispell it as "Waler",huh?) ,but that may be a far stretch. Listen to both versions and tell me which you prefer ,33 0r 45? Thanks.

USELESS PILE - U.P.E.P.

An e.p.'s worth of the weird world of Useless Pile. I believe them to be from Zanzibar ,but there is no info regarding their location on the record cover. I could find no info on them on the internet anywhere, either. There is a Fang cover ,to redeem this, and the other 2 tracks sound like space rap on top of jazzpunk skronk ,with a little blastbeat mixed in.Hard to describe, fun to listen to! If anyone has their album ," U.P. In The G.C." ,please send me a rip! I'd love to hear it!

SACKTAP - Stupid Is Born Every Second

One of the dumbest bands of all time!  ,there is much to redeem this, their second LP.(The first one, self-titled,is available on this here blog, somewhweres). You have some poetry readings, some of their trademark Jazz/scat numbers, some more episodes of The Bob and Jerry show, parodies of 70's/80's TV commercials, crazy instrumentals that will trip you out (wear headphones!),a drum solo with a fat guy snoring on top of it,and covers of : The Misfits (Brian "Snax" Siders (R.I.P.) on drums and back-up vocals),Motorhead, 7 Seconds, and Black Flag! There are also some terrible songs, that are some of the worst pieces of shit you may ever hear.Or not!Total Tardcore madness!Fuckin'dumb!

CAT MACHINE- Big Hunk O' Cheese

The next part in our continuing series, this is a 6 song e.p. ,recorded on 4-track studio in Tony's room. The production here is raw,but I plan that all 4-track stuff will be remixed, after this series has run it's course.Genre -hopping on musical styles here, you get a white boy funk sound, some weird stoner rock,multi-speed cut-up lyrics, lounge jazz porn, hard rock/metal,and some bluesy riffs.Weird and trippy, check this out.Joel,Tony, and I,are the band,no guests,we all do vocals, and play everything. From Oct '90. All is unimportant,on God's scale!

LCXME-Lee County eXperimental Music Ensemble-Live! June 16th,1995

tony, joel, vance, and myself,on a fine summer day,in crime manor, regurgitating free-form jazz, filtered thru the minds and hands of freaks!the idea was for us to get an art grant, but it never panned out.we still carried on,and even played a few jazz fests in the area.this tape was lost and the tape was broken,so repair was needed!also uncovered a noisekillr chestnut, which will be included on his next release!anyway, this is boys having fun, entertaining themselves,a band with an audience of ourselves.enjoy the instrumental onslaught, don't be scared,it's rather listenable in this day and age.as usual, way ahead of the times!

L C X M E-lee county experimental music ensemble-live at the 5455 jazz fest july 2-4,1995

this is but one session(really 2)recorded on july 2nd (first 2 tracks),and july 4th,1995.me,joel,mike smith and vance are the combo.kinda free jazz/punk,mostly guitars(phased)sometimes replacing horns, drums, and samples.(some uncuts are in there,a little sax, some sitar, and unconventional instruments like an electric blender, various utensils, and more.)we were denied an art grant for this group, but we carried on anyway thru several tapes.this is live at the 5455 jazz fest,on the green,in front of a crowd of thousands.we did a few gigs at different jazz/blues clubs, and a few more festivals, all of which will be posted, eventually!calling on the spirits of sun ra,charles mingus, john coltrane, archie shepp, pharoh sanders, albert ayler, and rashied ali(there is an ode to him here),among other jazz greats, and trying to be similar to the chicago free jazz movement,or one of our faves, ensemble muntu(who we played with once!)there's more to come from this exciting free jazz/punk combo!bet you can't wait!

SACKTAP

some of the stupidest stuff ever commited to tape,by one of the most tardcore bands of all time,SACKTAP.collects pieces from 1978-2009,of all sorts.kinda retaining or always returning to a jazz/lounge based sound, but lots of other styles abound such as,noisy industrial, acoustic, lots of keyboardy numbers, poetry, remakes of classic 80's t.v. ads,long-winded instrumentals, audio verite,a spoof of an old time radio show in a few episodes, the most retarded motorhead cover ever,hip-hop rap, just about anything you could think of.experiments gone wrong is the key mode of operation here.if you are into the worst music you can find, annoying people with said music,or if you enjoy any tardcore, you will like this.makes sockeye and their gang look like led zeppelin in comparison.don't listen to any other band called,SACKTAP.they're all fakes, also has nothing to do with spinal tap, even though they rule!an ongoing project that will likely end when i die.there is a full cannon of this band in the wings, just waiting to unload on the stupid world we live in,and when it does, whooo boy!,be prepared for the stupidity, that of the like which you have never seen.art by eric, age 8.
