THE FLORIDA PLAYERS - We've Got A Winner b/w Experiment

A funk outfit ,apparently from Florida ,though no info could be found on this group.Jazzy, funky rhythms drive this shit home!Recorded in Miami in 1977 on Drive Records. Not much of an experiment on side b ,either. I was hoping for a free form jam ,but it's pretty structured ,and has a title that has nothing to do with the sound going into your earholes!

DYNASTY - I Don't Want To Be A Freak (But I Can't Help Myself) b/w Your Piece Of The Rock

Substansial disco/funk ,from this band's first single,1979. I think The Sylvers are tied in with these folks. The pic is from their 1st album ,which also has these 2 songs on it.Dance your freaky ass off! Side b could be a tune that Prudential Insurance could use on their commercials,ha ha.

FRED WESLEY & THE J.B.'S - Doing It To Death b/w Everybody Got Soul

Fred,a member of James Brown's bands (as well as Ike and Tina Turner's band, and more),goes solo here,(sounding like the godfather of soul, himself)with a few James penned tunes.Side A does it for me ,as the title implies what I am trying to achieve in life.Side B is almost a continuation of side A. Pretty dang funky!

CAT MACHINE- Big Hunk O' Cheese

The next part in our continuing series, this is a 6 song e.p. ,recorded on 4-track studio in Tony's room. The production here is raw,but I plan that all 4-track stuff will be remixed, after this series has run it's course.Genre -hopping on musical styles here, you get a white boy funk sound, some weird stoner rock,multi-speed cut-up lyrics, lounge jazz porn, hard rock/metal,and some bluesy riffs.Weird and trippy, check this out.Joel,Tony, and I,are the band,no guests,we all do vocals, and play everything. From Oct '90. All is unimportant,on God's scale!

N.I.L.8-doug

the last show sexboy played(2/20/1997),we opened for this illinois powerhouse.the gig was at samskull's offbeat records shop, and ralph tarantino filmed the show.just fun, ska/punk/rock/funk,it will raise your spirits!best tracks for me are,"land of the lost","basement show"(which is the video below),"old macdonald's straight-edge dilemma",and"the insanity of drayton sawyer and his hallucination of love brought on by the texas chainsaw massacre part II"(how's that for a mouthful!?) it's all pretty good, better live tho'.i also have a single by them that i will post at a later time.for now enjoy this and the video(i have the whole show!)

CHUCK CONNELL-some of the best of CHUCK!

this was a labor of love for my good pal,and sluggisha all-star,chuck.i've never met a nicer guy in my life,as well as the bassmaster extrordinaire.many bands chuck was involved in are here,as well as solo turns, and some brand new tracks minted for this comp.lots of guests help chuck out also.vance, brophy,me,and peegsley(his lil bro, chris)are featured and the band list is as follows:absolut, cat machine, nitro kick, cheesy time warps, panther piss, phone sluts,on the lamb, cool papa rider, fat, dumb, and happy, and chuck's latest solo effort, gold on fire, which is totally professional sounding.i wish i had some big monster blunt to lay on you,as well as other bands with chuck, but this is what i got.there is much more of most of the bands on this comp as well as more chuck.hopefully chuck will get some more stuff together for a new comp of newer material,we are waiting chuck! 25 tracks that go on for 2 hours.man chuck plays long songs.there are some instrumentals,of all styles, tho' chuck really sticks to funk.he was like the flea of ft. myers, but also was in thrash metal bands,as well as alternative music bands, and some rather trippin'solo stuff.this is a good introduction to the guy we all know as chuck!if you're lucky ,you may one day meet him.till then ,study this profile!G O D.p.s.leave chuck some comments on his great work!thanks!

BUGHEAD-vol 3

hey,it's brophy on drums again, nathan adams on guitar and lead vocals, and jason powell ,bass and vocals.they had an orlando connection.kinda funky like hendix meets lenny kravitz(oh yeah, they're the same person, right?),with one track revisiting their ska roots.yes,i think they started as a ska band, and as that market overflowed into the sewer, they swtched up to this funky sound.reminds me of early 70's funk rock bands.the last track is almost reminiscent of a ween cut-out with it's falsetto vocals.pretty professional sound as well, far beyond sluggisha standards.i don't know what became of vols. 1,2 or anything after 3,i've never heard 'em.click here :http://www.mediafire.com/file/mcwiwigzzmo/bughead.zip

BIONIC GROOVE ALLIANCE

this is a hip hop funk rap metal band, with brophy on drums.i don't know the other members, but they seem to have an orlando connection.kinda like i imagine what mike muir's funk metal band sounded like,or any rap metal crossover band from the 90's.click here for link:http://www.mediafire.com/file/0dglnnj4kog/BIONIC GROOVE ALLIANCE.zip

GIRLS U.S.A.-take a big lick

this is girls u.s.a.,kinda like soundtracks mashed together with samples added and guitars, vanessa del rio on synths and keys, samantha fox on samples and drums, and barbara moose on guitars.we used this tape to procure a gig at an "alternative"club, got the gig, then played punk rock which sounded nothing like this recording, kinda techno, plunderphonics, funky strange, and weird.headphones will enhance your experience.porn aerobics videos, the black gestapo and other blaxploitation flicks, ren and stimpy, interviews with gacy and henry lee lucas, godzilla and more are sampled.think about that combo .really good and different than anything you've ever heard.enjoy .G O D.
