CAT MACHINE - Power Trio

Around this time ,in Cat Machine's history,Tony and Myopia had just finished up their string of gigs at Visions,and Tony was in the pokey for a month or two.So Ed,Joel,and Chipmonk ,carried on as usual ,this is live to boombox,with great sound! Once again,as with "New Thing" ,a few tapes back ,this is kinda the germination of the splinter band ,One Fell Swoop.New versions of ,"Peddler of Pencils" (2x) ,"Land Of Faraway" ,and "Slim Jim Blues" ,as well as a bunch of awe-inspiring experimental stuff,that will blow your doors off!There's only about a half dozen tapes left in this series! All 4-track studio stuff,(with the noticibly missing Tony,on about half of the tapes)except the last tape,which is a rehearsal for a gig that fell thru, at Serena's ,a shitty rock club in shitty Cape Coral. So stay tuned for the rest of this tape series,scattered thru the next coupla months,sporadically,posting on the original release dates,20 years to the date! This was recorded on May 28th,1991.

CAT MACHINE - Temper Tantrum Day

Some really good stuff from those underground,outsider,cult-band boys,from the brain boiling heat of Ft. Myers,Florida,on 3/19/1991.Ed,Tony,Joel,Chipmonk,and Billy,at Cat Machine house,recorded ,as usual,live into a boom box.Even more of the cryptic song titles,and lyrics they are known for,as well as some of the best alt-rock/punk music ever recorded! "Cranky In The Extreme" ,and the last track ,"The Disenchanted(I Am Relaxed!)" ,may help to decipher what the title is really all about!There is only one more live to boombox cassette left in this series(besides a few rehearsal tapes),after which everything was recorded on a four-track system,leading to better sound,and better songs!Stay tuned for the rest of this series! Number 33 release from this prolific,underground ,cult-band of outsiders! Ed,Joel,Tony,Chipmonk,and Billy,let it rip ,once again!Lots of great songs,and funny little skits,that last as long as this sentence.I won't even mention the songs on here,they're all fabulous!Very experimental ,in parts,and punk-rockin' in other sections!I don't remember how we titled it,AC-DC has nothing to do with it,tho' ,"The Nuge" is mentioned briefly!You just can't find a more interesting band,a true desert island sort of group! 3/12/1991

CAT MACHINE - Maggotty Pork Head Set

Bizarre song titles abound!Downright cryptic words!Music played by suburban waste-oids!The core of four (Ed,Tony,Joel,Chipmonk),on 3/5/1991,jammed this into a "suburb",(as opposed to "ghetto") blaster,(boombox) ,1,2,3,4! style,at the Cat Machine house.Re-workings of several hits ,including,:"Trinkets Of Cloud" ,"Moon Over Mannequins" ,and "Rainbow Shower".Chipmonk does a hee-larious "rap" on ,"Weasel Dick",about slow Don.And he waxes poetic about Hogan's Heroes on ,"Commander Of Swine".There's mucho weirdness floating around in this skeleton galaxy.Here's some of the stranger song titles,"We're Saved Ah-Hah","Hand-See","Twicker Pated","B.M.R.C.","Darn-104-Bloot Huh","Tender Sharples",amongst others.A heart-warming collection of songs that will probably be sung around campfires,on space-scout troop camp-outs,in the future!Their 31st album,released 20 years ago,today! More from the greatest underground,undiscovered,outsider,cult-band.Everyone who is on this tape ,was tripping balls on some killer blotter,on this day ,2/23/1991.Ed,Tony,Joel,Chipmonk,and Billy Drake,were the band,and this one's a real doozy!!Recorded ,as usual,1-2-3-go! style,straight into a boom box,in Joel's room at Cat Machine house!!I would say you should imbibe some sort of intoxicants,to get full enjoyment from this recording.Some really great songs,crazy lyrics,insane playing,and the acid factor,all add up to a mountain of madness,and fun.Good times,none of us will probably ever get the chance to re-live,except through the magic of this tape.One of the eclectic band's greatest achievments,in their entire catalog! Highly (huh-huh) recommended.

CAT MACHINE - 1/2 Live- 1/2 P.I.S.T.(Pretty Industrial Studio Thing)

Another masterpiece from the boys,Ed,Tony,and Joel,with special guest Vance (rhythm) ,on tracks 17,18,and 19.The first 14 tracks are live in Joel's room,with a special interruption visit,from Gramps.And there's a song about Kelly Clark,which only insiders may understand.The second half is ,as the title describes,"industrial",as in loud,metallic beats,and noise,and "studio",as in 4-track recording.A couple of lengthy songs(one titled,"The Black Swan"),the first version of ,"Bonk Fever",(which shows up in it's best version ,on the very next tape),And a bizzare number,"Snake Crane Secret",which is then remixed,screwed and chopped,for the last track.A wild ride,for sure,as is the case with all of the Cat Machine's recordings!Stay tuned here,for the rest of everything this underground,outsider ,cult band,ever recorded ,will be posted!!

CAT MACHINE - Beer For Breftiks

Continuing the year-long series,here's the core of Ed,Joel,and Tony with their 6th tape,(recorded straight to boom box) from November of 1990.There are revisions of tunes from the previous tapes,as well as a slew of new songs.Got some hardcore going on with ditties like,"SSAACOP" ("Shit Sandwich and a Cup Of Piss,Scab Sandwich and a Cup Of Pus"),with Joel on vox,"Shit Lipstick",and," I'm Dead Serious"."Dave Kendall" of MTV'S 120 Minutes fame,is spoofed here(twice! once in an extended mix!),and there are ,of course,more versions of live staples,"Queen Turd Of Shit Hill",and "Crazy Mary".They really started to grow a sound here,settling in to a comfortable groove,that would carry them thru the next year.Each tape seems to get progressively better."Crude Being Made Flesh",ends this tape,with more of the boys trademark "everybody read something out loud at the same time" thing which they did frequently.Next tape is dated 11-10-90,"Unplugged",mostly acoustic,with many special guests.See ya next week with that masterpiece!Till then,grab this here treasure.

From October of 1990,let the journey continue!The next piece of the series was just the core of Ed J.,Joel Rizzo,and his brother Tony.Recorded 1,2,3,-go! style,into a boombox,there are new versions of previously recorded songs,a whole slew of new tunes,and the last 6 tracks are ,stupendously amazing.Starting to get really good here,as a band goes.You can almost see the twinkling of the stars,destined to be Cat Machine.Myopia is covered here,twice.Another version of, Crazy Mary,and Queen Turd Of Shit Hill,this is a great document,of a great day in Cat Machine history.Stay tuned for more of this series,as the boys stumble towards nothing.

CAT MACHINE-Kroonchy Stars All-Loser Jam (We Suck, We Know It,And We Don't Care !)

The third tape from the "mighty" Cat Machine,is the core group of Tony & Joel Rizzo,Ed Wood (me) and special guests for the full duration of this outing are Chuck Connell,Billy Drake, and Vance Burdge.A lot of noise is kicked up,some real speaker shredding tunes,these are.There are a few early versions of songs that show up a few tapes later,sounding more song-like,specifically,"Plastic Jesus","Shit On A Stick","I'll Brain Ya !",and,"Whiskey For Lunch". Then a few more tapes after that,you have different versions of these songs : "Gov. Bob","Who The Hell Is Me Again?","Shit Lipstick", "36 Cents","Her Husband Was There",and "Lon Chaney Jr.'s Dead". Another few songs from this release appear on later tapes,in tweaked forms.Chuck holds down a lot of the jams,with his bass expertise,and Billy tears off a few good riffs.I noticed i did most of the vocals,but i think some of the other guys do some too.This is a great live document,recorded as most of the "Machine's" tapes were,direct to boombox.We did a lot of 4 -track recording,as well,but more sporadically than the live tapes,which averaged 1-2 ,90 minute tapes a week !Some of this may be harmful to pets and other living things,beware!!!
