ONE FELL SWOOP - Live! at the Corkscrew Ranch ,Ft. Myers ,Florida ,3/21/1992

This is the second to last show by these guys (the next day was our final gig at Serena's ,a rock/metal club in Cape Coral ,but more on that later!) We were first to play in a line-up of over 10 bands ,our first time with a bass player ,Vance Burdge ,helping us out. The music sounds top-notch ,but we were out doors ,and the P.A. system was not loud enough to catch most of the vocals.Pictured above is beautiful, royal palm-lined McGregor Blvd. ,a side-road off of which led to the ranch.A very receptive crowd of everyone in the scene was in attendance ,and it was one of our finest moments. As previously mentioned ,the next day was our last show at Serena's ,and we had a flyer which stated it was a benefit for some dead girl ,who was not actually dead ,at the time ,and her parents were awfully pissed off ,when they learned of our advertisement. There were hair-bands and metal-heads galore ,we were the only alt-rock college music band playing ,and they sent us off to the upstairs stage ,while they ruled the main stage on the lower floor. Since we had drawn a crowd upstairs ,these fucking heshers followed us up ,as to eject us from the stage.A classic line was thrown at me and Chipmonk by one of them ,"Hey ,did you teach him to play guitar ,or did he teach you?" My reply was ,"We taught each other!" They did not like that,to say the least. Sadly the gig was not recorded,so this Corkscrew Ranch gig ,is our final recorded legacy. There is still one missing studio track ,with the core trio ,and Eric "Trig" Triglet ,on vocals (produced by Vance at his Kitty Grind Studios ,in the Cape). When I locate that ,I will surely post it ,as well as some remixes from various live offerings. Enjoy it ,and wish yourself back to the salad days of the FTM. Recorded 20 years ago, today!!!!!

ONE FELL SWOOP - Sounds Like Drugs

The boys are back again ,this time for drugs! Another fab guitar freak-out number ,
"Breakfast Claw Butter Horn" ,showing off Chipmonk's prowess on the axe. All 3 "College Rock Hits" ,are included here (Cares Are Oceans Away , Mushrooms , Goils) ,as well as other psych/indie/alt-rock numbers. A covers medley at the end ,runs thru hits by , The Angry Samoans , Johnny Cash , Black Flag , and Sonic Youth. With titles like "(Thank You ,And Enjoy) Music To Hit Bongs By" and "More Planetarium Music" , you should be able to surmise what to expect. Great drug-rock ,from The FTM underground! Recorded 9/28/1991. The album title is a prime example of truth in advertising!

CAT MACHINE -Tooth Breath Spewdom Not Sneeze

Don't know about that title, but the music is fine!Ed,Joel,Tony,Chipmonk, and special guests,Shane Carwile, and Billy Drake,on 2/16/1991,in the FTM.Really good tunes here include: "Song For Billy To Sing", "Song For Billy To Sing Again",(Billy never actually sings,or utters a word for that matter,on either of these tracks) ,"Gettin' The Gumption" ,"Suicidal Ballerina Blues" , "The Strangled Penguin's Chrome Glider Dream" , "Accidental Toaster","90 Cups Of Coffee An Hour",and "Cowering Spastics".The whole thing is great altogether,I'm just pointing out some highlights,or lowlights,as the case may be.The 26th release from this obtuse,outsider,unknown,undiscovered,cult-band,from Ft.Myers,Florida,80's thru 90's.Keep following their path to eventual destruction,in the rest of this year-long series, more coming soon!

CAT MACHINE - 2-eaten alive by wild dogs

On this second tape,Oct. 2nd,1990, we kinda jam like the first tape, there is the original version of "Queen Turd Of Shit Hill",which sounds nothing like what it ended up to be.There is also a second version of Queen Turd here, which does sound like an embroyonic version of what became a live staple. We cover the Stooges, then I went to pick up our special guest for this tape,Chuck Connell. While I was gone,Joel & Tony tore off a really cool, spooky little refrain titled,"One Creepy Little Town",about life in the FTM.It is the mellowest song here,as well as the quietest.Yes there is much feedback noise,of the grunge variety, like Jesus Lizard,or somethin'.When Chuck joined in on this tape,(he's here for half the tape),things, suddenly picked up,into an almost different band.We all take turns singing, even Chuck. Some highlights are,"The Mighty Cat Machine" , You're So Contrary,Chees'd Psychic Ya" , and one of our many shining moments,"Come Hang With Me".Chuck plays the bass, like a son-of-a-gun,he is the bassmaster! The next 4 tapes in this year long series, are not dated, but in exact position in the masters vault,as the day they were recorded,so they are in order.I'll post one per each Friday in October, which is probably about right, as the next dated tape is 11/10/90 .Anyway, get this, give Chuck praise in the comments(he plays bass on tracks 12 thru 22),and don't forget, the Cat Machine tribute comp, which I think I may wait till next year, when this series runs out,and all the tapes are posted, and you'll be able to learn any one of our hundreds of songs, and send it in for the tribute post!! Enjoy this. Chuck is moving back to the FLA !!! living just 30-40 minutes from me,we will be working on lots of music together!

RAMMPAGE-debut ep

This is some biker bar band from the Ft. Myers scene.I don't think anyone in our scene would know them, since none of us ,with a few exceptions, have been known to frequent biker bars.4 songs that verge on heavy metal, really some chooglin' ol' hard rock.I can hear Alice Cooper,Kiss,Tygers Of Pan Tang,Motley Crue, all blended up with some southern rock.A couple of times they almost sound like the great cheez metal band,Rokker, which is cool, since Rammpage hasn't a clue.Recorded at Sound Check Studios,in the FTM.Not bad, very rare,if you like rock music at all, you'll be diggin' this. They can't spell.
