Merry Christmas Ribbon

For this card I took the layout from Freshly Made Sketches and the colour theme from The Card Concept
I used a card made made from ivory hopsack weave cardstock.
The poinsettia die is from  Britannia Dies and I don't remember where the ivy came from. I coloured the flower with alcohol pens and the leaves with Distress Oxide inks. The sentiment is from My Favorite Things. The ribbon is by East of India.

Design Seeds Picture Inspiration.

We have a colour inspiration challenge at Less is More this week. There are so many wonderful images on the Design Seeds site that it makes choosing a starting point difficult.
Today is my friend Sarah's, (one of  the LIM designers), birthday so happy birthday to her!
Cheers!
For this one I coloured the back of the vellum after stamping and embossing with fine detail white embossing powder. The butterflies were simply cut out and attached to the background strip. The sentiment die is from Simon Says Stamp. The leaves are Memory Box (I think).

This is the inspiration pic.
This is a retired two step stamp from Stampin' Up. I love the casual feel of these stamps... also good for watercolouring,  but I chose to merely stamp this time!
I should be home from my travels later today so hopefully I shall manage to get around to see  a few LIM entries!
Enjoy your weekend.

Subtle colours

Design Seeds have some amazing colour combinations with pictures sure to inspire!
thankful tones
This is the one we are using at "Less is More" this week.
I stamped and inked a piece of card with a tree image from Darkroom Door using colours from Adirondack inks.
Once I had finished inking, I chopped up the card to use parts of it in two separate cards. I  like to make a larger piece than I need as I can  often see that just part of the image has more effect than the whole thing.
For this part of the image, I overstamped it with a sanded  stamp from SU and put it behind a frame. I don't know which one I prefer, maybe the first!
I think it's fun making this kind of card.

Lucky Dip at Less is More

This month we are fortunate enough to have 5 Saturdays, which means that at "Less is More" we have an extra challenge plus a Guest Designer.
For our Lucky Dip challenge this month we have chosen to use the blog header as the inspiration for the card creations. Here it is!
"Less is More"
We are really lucky to have have Kim as our Guest Designer this month and her cards have been an inspiration to us all  from the get go.
I have done a couple of cards, one as a direct case of the header and the other using the music and the flourishes, plus the general colour as the basis for my card.
Details of what I used on this are on the LIM blog!

This is one of my usual emboss resist  and inking cards. It's a little more removed from the original than the first card, but I hope you can see the influence of our header in it!
Do join us over at "Less is More"... what can you come up with?
