"Hello Sunshine" Card by Gerry van Gent

Happy Sunday Sizzix friends!

Today I am sharing with you a card I created for not a
particular occasion - it was simply fun to create a window
card by using the Circles framelits dies.
660515 Sizzix Big Shot Plus Starter Kit
660804 Sizzix thinlits Die Set Happiness Phrases
660500 Sizzix Thinlits Die Set Intricate Tribal Florals
659573 Sizzix Sizzlits Dec. Strip Die Spring Greenery
657551 Sizzix Framelits Die Set Circles
656551 Sizzix Bigz Die Birds
*       *       *

After die cutting a circle in the middle of my double card
I began decorating it by adding first the bird.
After that I adhered the Happiness Phrases -
these are attached to the card only by the ends.
Then I added the layered flower and the Spring Greenery .

I used two sorts of the Intricate Tribal Florals to create my flowers.

The Bird was die cut from corrugated cardboard and pattern paper.
In this way it makes it steady and dimensional.

Thank you for visiting us today!
Have a creative Sunday!

Wonderland Bird Decoration

HI there. Do you remember a couple of weeks ago I used this same die to decorate a baby bib - well now I'm thinking ahead to Christmas - I know it's early but I don't want to have a mad rush in December -
Doesn't this make a lovely decoration - and all you have to do is cut out a pair of birds in red - using the Bigz die -http://www.sizzix.co.uk/product/660887/sizzix-bigz-die-wonderland-bird, and of course a Big Shot Machine - http://www.sizzix.co.uk/product/660200/sizzix-big-shot-machine-only-white-gray , and cut the a pair of wings and eyes from white felt.
I used sparkly red and white felt but plain will work just as well.
Stitch the wings and eyes in place first, either by hand or machine.

Then stitch the 2 birds together to complete.
Now these can just sit on the Christmas tree, or you could string them on ribbon or thread and hang them.
I have lots more ideas for this die so I think you will be seeing him quite a few more times between now and Christmas.
By for now.

A Little Hello Lay-Out

Hi Sizzix fans!

Today I have a lay-out to show you that features a bright colour scheme and lots of pretty Sizzix dies. I hope you like it!

Sizzix products:

I wanted to give my lay-out a cheery and happy feeling, so I used a variety of dies that suited this theme perfectly. In the right lower corner of the photo I created a cluster using several pretty dies. I first cut out a bird from pink paper with the Bigz Birds die. After that, I took the beautiful flower die from the Starter Kit and cut out a flower from the same paper as the bird. I adhered it on top of the bird with foamtape.

For my background I cut out multiple circles with the Framelits Circles dies. I also used the Floral wreath dies set to cut out a few tiny flowers, which I added inbetween the circles.

I further decorated my lay-out with several butterflies and a scalloped border, which were both cut out with dies from the Starter Kit as well. I especially like this large butterfly and wanted to give it a prominent place on my lay-out. I therefore also adhered a chipboard flower to its center to make it stand out even more.

Thank you for stopping by on the Sizzix blog today!
Have a wonderful day!

In Dutch:
Hoi Sizzix fans!

Fijne dag!

Birds and Flowers on Birthday Cards

Hello everybody,
it´s me again, Julia. :) Hope you had a nice week? May and June are the birthday months in my family, so I need some cards for all of those lovely people.

Here is my list of supplies:
Sizzix Big Shot Plus Starter Kit (White & Gray) #660515
Sizzix Bigz Die - Birds #656551
Sizzix Sizzlits Decorative Strip Die - Summer Florals #658340
White Cardstock and grey blank cards
Scraps of Pattern Paper and Stamps, Ink Pad
Your heat embossing items

Do you remember the card with one of those die cutted flowers I showed you some weeks ago? I made a looooooot of these pretty flowers, so I thought I have to make some more cards with them. The size is just perfect! :)

Most of the time I use white blank cards, but this time I used grey cardstock. I wanted to get some nice and simple cards, with a pretty touch of light colors. Do you see the white background behind the birds? For this fine texture I took a piece of foil and added a little bit white acrylic paint. Rub the foil between your fingers and than put it onto the card, take it off and see what happens. I think this is a nice way to get a little bit more dynamic onto your projects. What do you think?

I hope you like my cards this week and you got a little bit inspired to combine some techniques for your next projects. :)
Have a nice weekend everybody, xo Julia

--------------------------------------------------

xo Julia

Out of the Shadows!

ShadowPress is here!!...For those of amongst you who have no idea what I'm talking about let me enlighten you!

ShadowPress is the name of a new style of debossing folder which leaves the impression of the shadow of the letters rather than the letters themselves, confused?

It's so hard to describe the concept; when it was explained to me my eyes glazed over in incomprehension too! They say 'A picture is worth a thousand words' so with that in mind let us cut to the chase and show you what ShadowPress can do!!

The folders are the work of MrTim Holtz known for his innovative work in many crafting fields including die cutting and embossing. I am using the following folders and dies to create this weeks blog (click on the product to follow the link):

I have restricted myself to ivory and black card for this project and I am also using one of my favourite products which is Treasure Pewter gilding wax. I folded an A5 piece of ivory card in half to form my base card together with a 21 x 9 cm rectangle of black card. I debossed then word 'hello' onto the front of the black card with my folder.... It's all starting to make sense now!!!

I tore the base from the black card below the debossed word and started to gently rub the Treasure Pewter over the word with my finger tip gradually building up the silver patina. Its important not to apply too much and work in delicate circles. Once satisfied, I wrapped the black card around the base card. We can see how the debossed image is highlighted by the wax, it's a wicked effect and works equally well with acrylics, pastels etc.

Next I Die-cut a line of birds from stiff black card and trimmed away the birds that I wanted to use with a craft knife before applying the gilding wax as before.

Here's the finished card. I attached the birds with 3D foam pads and added a few pewter coloured 2mm adhesive pearl gems.

I couldn't stop at one card so I returned to my old friend the Butterfly Frenzy decorative strip which we saw a few months back, I created the card in the same way but to get added dimension the the butterflies I gently curled the wing tips and folded them in the centre before applying to the card with a glue gun.

I think these cards are quite modern and stylish as well as delivering maximum impact in return for minimum effort. I actually quite like to spend hours labouring over a project but sometimes we just want something quick and easy!

Next week I'm going to return to my old friends the Framelits Circles...Can't wait!
