Baubles before my eyes!

You remember last week when I said I hadn't done any shopping or writing of Christmas cards - well - I still haven't started the cards - but fortunately my husband has - and all the cards that need posting have been written! I have bought some presents - so I'm still fairly confident that I can sleep sometime between now and Christmas eve.
So this is my final offering for quick makes for Christmas - using another die designed by Tim Holtz  - Retro decorations otherwise known as Christmas Baubles  - http://www.sizzix.co.uk/product/660036/sizzix-bigz-die-retro-ornaments
and I've used it on a place mat for the dinning table and also on a hand towel - which can either be the finishing touch to your festive decorating - or an easy small gift for an emergency -

I used the same die and method for the towel and the place mat - fusing web to the back of the cotton fabric before cutting using the die and Big Shot.
For the place mat I pinned and stitched some narrow white and silver ribbon in place -
and then positioned the baubles- fused them in place and stitched around the edges. to complete I tied 4 small bows with the ribbon and stitched in place at the top of each bauble.
For the towel I only used the 3 oval baubles and placed them along the non looped border, fusing and stitching them in place, and then added a small bow to the top of each one.
So that is my last pre Christmas make for this blog - I hope you like these simple ideas.
Now I have to layer up and quilt a lap quilt for a friend and them make 3 dressing gowns for my grand-daughters - the kettle is on!
I hope you all have a lovely Christmas, and manage to relax and enjoy this very special day.

Bentes Christmas tree decorations for week 3.

Hi, I am back this Sunday to share some decorations I made for my tree using the beautiful free download papers and a few of my favourite dies.

De dies I used were the scalloped circle , the oval and  and the snowflake from the Winter borders & rosette set.

I added pop dots between the layers to add some more interest to my ornaments.

I hope you like my ornaments and will try making them. It's a nice thing to do in family with in the kids as they are pretty straight forward to make and the design can be varied to make different styles.

The supplies I used were:
Free downloadable papers
657900 Sizzix Big Shot Machine Only (Powder Blue & Teal)
Sizzix Framelits Die Set 7PK - Circles, Scallop
Sizzix Thinlits Die Set 9PK - Winter Borders & Rosette
Sizzix Framelits Die Set 7PK - Ovals

Christmas Trees for the Christmas Tree

The third week of the Christmas Challenge 2014 will be filled with ideas for ornaments you can create using Sizzix products. I've made a trio of white glittery trees that can go on the Christmas tree or (as will be the case in our home) can be hung in a window or somewhere else in your home.

I used the Triplits Die Set 14PK - Christmas Trees to create all three trees. This set lets you mix and match various dies to create your own unique trees. For all my tree I diecut the tree base in both cardstock and glitter wrapping paper and then I diecut the details in cardstock as well.

Once I had done the fronts of my three trees (adding a little red heart diecut using a die from
Thinlits Die Set 10PK - Phrase Cards) I felt that the backs of the trees needed a little TLC. I was happy to see that the details for the larger trees would work on the back as well as on the front. For the smaller trees I diecut glitter paper circles using the smaller dies that comes with the set and added them were there are holes on the front of the tree.

Now all that is left is to hang the ornaments and enjoy them throughout December - and I like knowing that no matter which way the ornaments turn they look nice.

Glittering ornaments

Wednesday again and time to post yet another Christmas card. This week I went with a cool colour scheme and three stylish ornaments from Triplits Die Set 9PK - Ornaments.

I used two of the ornaments to diecut directly into the white cardstock that will go on top of everything. The diecut that is complete, I used as the third ornament for the card.

I bought some cheap glitter wrapping paper after Christmas last year with the specific intention to use it when making cards. It works so well and it is much cheaper than buying regular glitter paper. Here I've simply added the wrapping paper behind the negative spaces formed by the ornament as well as on top of the third ornament.

The Triplits Die Set 9PK - Ornaments comes with a small die with which you can make the metallic hanger for the ornaments which I of course did. I also used thread to make the ornaments look like they hang from the top of the card. As decoration for the ornaments I used three different small diecuts from Triplits Die Set 9PK - Ornaments and Triplits Die Set 14PK - Christmas Trees.

Winter season ornament

This week I've branched out and used the Thinlits Die - From Our Home to create an ornament that would be great to hang in the windows during Christmas and Winter. You might even make it and put it on one of your Christmas cards and that way the recipient could hang the ornament in their own home.

I started by die-cutting the Thinlits Die - From Our Home from regular white cardstock and then I mounted vellum on the back side of the motif. Using a pair of sharp scissors, I simply cut along the edge of the little snow scene to make sure cardstock and vellum were perfectly aligned.

In order to add some detail to the project I added some of the small stars on top of the smoke trail and went over those stars as well as the negative spaces where they used to be with clear Wink of Stella.

To give the windows of the house some shine I added multiple layers of Glossy Accent to the inside of alle three windows. This actually gives the windows some bulk as well as the right glassy shine.

Finally I used some silver thread to be able to hang the ornament: Using a small needled I threaded the silver thread through the vellum part of my ornamet.

Now all that was left was to hang the ornament and enjoy the way it turns into even more of a silhouette cut once it is hung in a window.

Glittered snowflkes and lovely ornaments

Hello Sizzix UK fans! Today I have for you 2 small Christmas inspirations. It would seem that now is even so far to Christmas, but usually we (crafters!) create Christmas cards much earlier. My today's cards are mine first Christmas cards this year!

To create a custom shape cards I used dies from Framelits Die Set 12PK - Fancy Cards set. Due to the fact that the set contains many different sizes and shapes of dies, we can create an interesting card base in various sizes and create layers on our cards or pages.

The main decoration on my cards are a large snowflakes, which I cut out using Bigz Die - Snowflakes #3. I love dies in this line, because we can cut out in thicker materials and shapes are always very impressive, both in terms of size and design. I painted my snowflakes using mint acrylic paint and then I added some glitter powder on the top.

Tremendously love the dies in Christmas ornaments and baubles shapes. To add more Christmas touches on my cards, I cut out a couple of beautiuful ornaments using new Triplits Die Set 9PK - Ornaments. Each of the small ornaments can be further embellish or you can cut them with a variety of interesting materials. I added small dots made using 3D paint on these lovely elements.

Witajcie! Dziś mam dla Was świąteczne inspiracje.
Do stworzenia nietypowego kształtu kartek wykorzystałam wykrojniki z zestawu: Framelits Die Set 12PK - Fancy Cards.
