Stick Binding Autumn Leaves

Hi there,
today I want to show you my last workshop project from this week in a studio for people with and without handicaps.
It is a great studio project where people are mutually supportive.

I started this week with a Stick Binding workshop. I thought it ist a great idea because the natural materials fit perfectly to this season.

I chose strong watercolor cardboard for the book cover and walnut paper, sisal, felt, handmade paper,  yarn, some wooden sticks and some charms for decoration.

I have presented the big shot to the participants and we had cut out with the gorgeous fall foliage by Tim Holtz the different materials like thin wood, handmade papers and also felt.

Items I used:

SIZZIX BigZ Die w/Folder - Layered Leaf by Tim Holtz #660039

It was a very simple bookbinding, so we had enough time to decorate the book.
I showed the watercolor technic with ink from inkpads on acrylblocks with water to the participants -
a quick and effective technique.

We also had time to create an autumn card.
We used again watercolor paper, corrugated paper, clear stamps and a piece of glitter paper.

I wish you a lovely weekend!

Priceless!

Strange title for my blog given the fact that the frame cost £2.99. That's the thing about handmade gifts, they are priceless because of the time, and loving care poured into each one.

I drew my inspiration for the colour palette from some festive gift bags which I bought at Aldi last week (along with a luxury stollen thank you very much!). As soon as I saw the bags I knew what I was going to do as soon as I got into work.

Today is Christmas Eve, and tomorrow I will give this frame to my wife amongst other things but I know which gift will be most cherished.

I used a selection of dies to get what I wanted, The poinsettias come from the Bigz L Wreath, Banner, Holly & Poinsettia die, the snowflakes from the Calendar Months Thinlits set which contains no less than 54 separate elements. The foliage is from Tim Holtz Holiday Greens Thinlits set and finally the pink flower comes from the Bigz Flower Layers & Leaves die. Just click on the highlighted text to see the different dies.

I chose the colours from my ever growing stash and die-cut all the elements before decorating with some strategic pearl gems. the berries on the holly were die-cut using the wreath die.

Next, I set about laying all the separate elements onto the frame until I found a balance that I was happy with. At this point I usually take a photo to use as reference before removing all the die-cuts and attaching them one by one with a combination of adhesive foam pads and a hot glue gun.

I hope you like the finished frame, I'm sure my wife will.

Have a wonderful Christmas, I'm off to start cutting the veggies for tomorrow!

Bente's last minute Christmas cards

Hi Sizzix friends!
Today I am sharing some last minute Christmas cards using the basic oval shape and a couple of the new sets this Winter.

I used the ovals die to cut out a sweet vintage picture of  some wintery children I used the largest oval for this one.

Here I used  the Tim Holtz 'Holiday block words' and one of the snowflakes from a lovely set by Paula Pascual.

For the next one I used the Tim Holtz 'Holiday greens' die with four different  seasonal leaf/twig shapes.

And here finally is a picture of all three cards in the set.

So you see,...if you have not yet finished your cards it's still not too late.
Making a few simple but cute cards is so easy :-)

The dies I used are:
Sizzix Thinlits Die Set 4PK - Holiday Greens
Sizzix Thinlits Die Set 17PK - Holiday Words: Block
Sizzix Thinlits Die Set 9PK - Winter Borders & Rosette
Sizzix Framelits Die Set 7PK - Ovals

The lovely papers are by the Polish manufacturer Lemoncraft
