Notepad dressed up

A few weeks ago I bought a small notepad (on sale) at a new favourite store. My idea was to have the pad stay on my work table and be the place where I jot down lists of various kinds so I was slightly disappointed when I couldn't remove the sales sticker from the front.

Since it is just a little pad I decided to dress up the front covering the sticker with a fairly simple design and not a lot of bulk.

I cut an ombre paper the same size as the notepad and then I die cut a white delicately patterned paper and a bright green cardstock using the Frameworks Die - Courtyard. I began by attaching the white die cut and then I used a roller stamp to stamp multiple sentiments haphazardly across the paper. Finally, I added a few green diamonds to the white die cut.

I liked the idea that the green diamonds stand out due to the fact that I didn't stamp on them. It adds some contrast to the entire project.

Supply list:

Roller stamp (Hema)
Stickers (Søstrene Grene)
VersaFine, black ink
Paper (American Crafts)

Decorating a gift box with Frameworks dies and Tattered Florals.

Hi Sizzix friends,
Nice to be back here for my Sunday post and hopefully to share some inspiration with you!

I had this empty box of Turkish Delights on my scrap table that I wanted to alter  in some way.
I like the hexagonal shape and I had a lot of fun adding decorations to it.

Without further ado here are some pictures of how the box turned out:

I started by decorating the lid. Firstly I cut out the dark paper for the top and then a strip of the damask pattern to go along the edge . For the top I also cut three pieces of the Frameworks Trellies die and glued them down to form a pretty pattern..

I made a large flower using the Tattered Florals die . I also made two paper rosettes using the Mini Rosettes strip die . I layered these together with some other cute embellishments on top of the lid.

For the edge of the lid I cut a piece of sequin ribbon and glued it down.

The only thing remaining is to cut a nice wide strip of patterned paper to cover the rest of the box
and finally glue a piece of backing paper to the bottom to make it look nice.

Easter Chickens

With Easter rapidly approaching I took the opportunity to decorate an egg carton with chocolate-eggs in it. Since I made the box for a little girl I wanted it to be playful and fun so I decided to use one of the birds from Sizzix Bigz Die - Birds #3.

1. Using the Magnetic Platform and a die from Sizzix Framelits Die Set 7PK - Ovals I was able to cut a rounded edge on the pattern paper I wanted to dress the egg carton in.
2. Once I had achieved the rounded edge on the paper I attached it to the egg carton using a fast drying liquid glue.
3. Before closing the carton I wrapped all four eggs in pink tissue paper.

4. I wanted the birds to sit perched on top of the box and in order to achieve this I attached a strip of paper to the back of each die cut bird.
5. To hide the paper strip I die cut birds in plain cardstock and glue to the back of each bird.
6. Next up I decorated the birds with googly eyes, beaks and combs. Once that was done I attached the birds to the egg carton using glue dots.

I tied a ribbon around the box, closed it with a bow and then attached a tag with the name of the recipient on it. The tag was made with one of the dies from Sizzix Framelits Die Set 12PK - Tags, Sentiments.

Supply list:
Sizzix Big Shot Starter Kit (Powder Blue & Teal)

5. Ekstra udstansninger i almindeligt karton skjuler papirstrimlen.

Winter Steampunk Workshop - cute cottage transformed!

Hi, it's my turn again to share my projects and ideas inspired by wonderful Sizzix products!
Take a cup of tea or coffee, have a sit and enjoy!
I'm not a great fan of celebrating Christmas long before it's actual date - maybe I'm old fashioned, maybe it is a difference in traditions but I don't let Christmas madness get into my house until very last week before :) I really enjoy creating winter inspired projects though - I simply believe they are more versatile and will be suitable both for Christmas and  just simply as seasonal decorations.

When I saw this Country Cottage die by Brenda Walton (658743 - Sizzix Bigz XL Die - Country Cottage, 3-D)  I simply knew what to do - it was a quick and simple decision and even if I'm not a great fan of gluing I was ready for a challenge:) I even mentioned to my other blogging friends it would be so cool to create different interpretations of the same house - in different colours and styles!

Here is my interpretation - Winter Steampunk Workshop... do i have to add, I had great time creating this project? I just wish it was slightly bigger ;)

Assembling the house wasn't  complicated - it took me a moment to choose the best adhesive, but later everything went smooth.
I'm happy I could find right add-ons to the project: my Prima Mechanicals (leaves, roman numerals and flower) and some older crystal vines. There are also some beads, pearls cogs and alarm clock parts from my collection. (Once again I'm so grateful to my sweet students who support my hoarding habit and share their collections with me!)

Papers I used are from 7 Dots Studio - 9th Wave Collection, glued on thick kraft paper and inked after die-cutting with selected colours of Distress Inks (Ranger). The snow effect is created with Light Modeling Paste and Liquid Pearls (Ranger).

If you want to learn more about Brenda Walton Cottage and other dies from this collection - you will find a video here:)

Enjoy - and I wish you a wonderful time creating decorations and gifts for your family and friends. See you soon!

Altering with Sizzix Sizzlits - Brenda Walton - Winter Collection

Hi, how are you doing? Are you ready for some of new Winter-Christmas inspirations?
I hope so!
In the last days I was working on an altered project for my home. Some time ago I bought a nice doe figure on one of after Christmas sales somewhere in Warsaw. I loved the shape - but I hated the colour! It was sparkly silver, far too shiny for me...
This year I decided it is high time to change my doe into nice looking home decor matching my living room or dining room - what can be easier? Especially if you have some paint and beautiful designs of dies to choose from?

First I painted my doe with acrylic paints - and I used the same paints to paint white cardstock which I intended to use for my cut-outs too! When it was dry I could start the transformation!
I used 2 dies do get a bunch of nice elements for my composition:
- 658731 - Sizzix Sizzlits Die - Holiday Greenery
- 658735 - Sizzix Sizzlits Decorative Strip Die - Winter Florals

I cut out the flowers, leaves and piecesof decorative strip which together with Prima roses and Mechanicals helped me to create a composition on my doe.

After gluing all the elements on the figure I sprayed the floral compostion with a bit of delicate, shimmering mist to get perfectly matching colours. I dried it all with my heating tool and added my final touches - a bit of Liquid Pearls dots on the flowers, leaves and doe's tale, some pearl pins, crystals and a metal tag on the chain.
My project was ready for display!

I hope you like my idea - Sizzix cut outs are just great for creating dimensional compositions!
Sending love

Two projects by Gerry van Gent

Happy Sunday everyone!
Today I have two projects to share with you.
My first project is an altered item where I used a silhouette photo
of my daughter I "placed" in her dreams.
657900 Sizzix Big Shot Machine
658449 Sizzix ScoreBoards XL Album, Garden Gate
658530 Sizzix Bigz Die Mariposa
658260 Sizzix Bigz Die Christmas Cardinal
657492 Sizzix Bigz Die Tattered Pinecone
657176 Sizzix Sizzlits Dec. Strip Die Typeset Alphabet
657773 Sizzix Framelits Die Set w/Stamps Butterflies #3
657469 Sizzix Bigz Die Holiday Lamppost

I created the fence by die cutting Garden Gate twice from corrugated cardstock
and pattern paper.  I didn`t use the whole gates but part of them.
Then I distressed with ink and decorated with embellishment.

Behind the photo I adhered Mariposa butterfly.
For the tutorial how I created the butterfly with lace please
refer to one of my older blog posts (Father's Day Tag; 9 June, 2013)

Other Products I used:
Prima Marketing pattern papers
Prima Marketing flowers
Prima/Ingvild Bolme embellishments
Prima/Ingvild Bolme Chalk edgers
Lets Get Beeze MDF wall clock

My second project today is a card where I handmade the flowers & leaves
by using the beautiful Dogwood Flower dies.

658367 Sizzix Movers & Shapers Magnetic Die Set - Butterflies

658948 Sizzix Thinlits Die Frame, Rectangle
657789 Sizzix Sizzlits Die Set Love Set
657007 Sizzix Movers & Shapers Accessory Base Tray, L

The Dogwood flowers were made of pattern paper.
For the centres I mixed Transparent and Yellow liquid drops.
The leaves were die cut from white crepe paper. After that painted and
shaped while they were still wet. Then I added transparent liquid drops.

I hope you enjoyed my projects today!
Have a creative day!

How about some tea? by Camilla

Hello crafters!

Today I have made a tea cup. Sizzix has fabulous 3-D dies and in this project I have used two of them; the tea cup and the flower. The papers are from Maja Design.

And a close-up of the 3-D flower.

The dies I used are these:

See you next Sunday!

Camilla
