Spot the Cow!

Hi there,

Glad you stopped by today. My post today is "spot the cow"! I incorporated two of the new October Reveal sets and an older Set to make my farm scene today.

I incorporated one of the older sets into this design today - the Farm Sweet Farm Set 652. I love this beautiful barn image which I decided needed a sort of aged look - so I stamped the image in Black StazOn using my Tonic Stamp Platform and would then color with Copics. This would give a look of weathered paneling on the barn, as the StazOn will mix with the Copics. The image was restamped as you can see on the photo below it didn't cover all the image. When you have a big image like this the platform really comes in useful. Rather than throwing out several copies until you get it right, you just need to reink in the same place!

The tractor from Farm Fresh Tractor Set 877 and the milk urns from Farm Fresh Set 878 were stamped in Memento Black ink to be colored with Copics. The tractor and milk urns were colored in Copics and then fussy cut with the Tonic 5" Mini Scissors - could not craft without these anymore!!

The picket fence is Kraft cardstock cut with a Martha Stewart punch. This was sponged with Seaspray Green Embellishment Mousse

The barn was then given a background with Memento Summer Sky and Olive Grove inks and the picket fence put in place.

There was a gap on the left side I thought after assembly. So the milk urns were removed from the picture for a bit!

... and a little cow was added! I cut up the group of cows from Farm Fresh Set Cows 877 and masked where it would have to go on the top of the grass. She was stamped with the new Nuvo Acorn Brown ink

The sentiment from the Farm Fresh Tractors Set 877 was stamped in the top left hand corner in the Nuvo Clear Mark ink before being heat embossed with Sienna (fine detail embossing powder and rustic).

By placing this on the Tonic Stamp Platform you can use the grid to get it straight the first time and not mess your project up!!!

The cardfront was layered to a piece of burlap and then Kraft cardstock, for a fun rustic look! The tractor and the replaced milk urns were attached with mounting tape to finish off the card.

Hope you've enjoyed your visit to the farm today? Here are the products that were used on my card today, most of which can be found on the SNS website:

OH CHRISTMAS TREE!

Hi there,

Today I'd like to share my last SNS October Reveal card.  I used the Christmas Tree Tag from the Christmas Tags #1: Set 805.

Oh Christmas Tree

I started with cutting out the Spellbinders Holiday Dies set, from different scrap pieces of green cardstocks and before removing the dies I sponged Memento Bamboo Leaves ink over the pieces, which gave each of the pieces a different two-toned look.

Oh Christmas Tree

I stamped the Christmas Tree tag onto white cardstock in Versamark and heat embossed with Pear and cut out with the a Spellbinders Standard Circles die. I was aiming to give this card a monochromatic look, so each of the pieces were then daubed with Indian Gold Embellishment Mousse. I burnished extra onto the edges of the trees with my finger tool.

Oh Christmas Tree

I made my background by using the big daubers to apply a piece of white cardstock with Lemon Sorbet and Spring Green Embellishment Mousses.

Oh Christmas Tree

The background was layered to dark green before the white card base. The trees were then added overlapping one another using Tear-ific Tape and Foam Squares. The little orange star was punched from a scrap of orange cardstock which had been applied with some Moonstone Glimmer Paste.

Oh Christmas Tree

The Nuvo Crystal Drops Bottle Green were applied to the top right corner as shown.

Oh Christmas Tree

I hope you've enjoyed my monochromatic card today?

My card today uses the Turkey Dish Set 801. After stamping her with Memento Espresso Truffle, I colored her with Copics Y32, YR00, Y08, YG06, G07, R37, YR07, V09, E33, E25, E36, W7, B34. The Fine Tip Nuvo Glue Pen was used to apply a little Reflection Glitter to her shoe buckles and tray and Daisy Glitter to the base of her apron. I then took Dimensional Glue and applied it to some areas of the image to give some clear dimension. This was set aside to dry while I worked on the background.

I took a piece of Kraft cardstock and ran it through the Darice Foliage Embossing folder, then using various Memento inks (Dandelion, Cantaloupe, Morocco, Potter’s Clay, Lady Bug, Bamboo Leaves and Lilac Posies), colored in the leaves.

This background was cut in half vertically and then I used Spellbinders Mega Ovals Large die to put a curve on each side. I also used the "out of the box" technique on the image so that her shoe and hat were not cut off.

The image and background pieces were attached so that they measured 5 1/2" x 5 1/2". This was then centered on to a 6" x 6" piece of Kraft cardstock edged with 1/2" Tear-ific Tape

Radiant Gold Gilding Flakes were adhered to the exposed sticky edges. What a fun product!

After the card front was put together I felt the white background was too stark, so I sponged around the image with Memento Dandelion ink.

Now for the leafy decorations! A piece of white cardstock was the base for the Garnet Red, Emerald Green and Golden Crystal Glimmer Pastes. I just used a spatula to apply the paste to the cardstock. These are also so much fun to use. They dry fast and leave you with a nice pliable result. Just a little tip here: I found that if I worked on top of "one of your left over pieces of protective backings from the Super Adhesive Sheets", (I keep all mine), if the paste goes off the edge of what you are coloring, then it is easily scooped up with the spatula to be put back in the jar - No waste!

I used a scrap of orange cardstock for the Moonstone Glimmer Paste, since it is semi transparent. In fact, thought later that I could have made my glimmer cardstock in any color using different colored scraps of cardstock. There is a video here by Demo Donna that shows some fun ways to use these pastes. I die cut the ivy using the Creative Expressions Trailing Ivy die. I needed to put a couple of shims under the piece of glimmer cardstock in order for it to cut completely through.

The other leaves were punched out using Marvy punches.

The sentiments were stamped in Versamark and then heat embossed with one of the Tuscany embossing powders, Tuscan Sun. These are my go to colored eps! They provide great detail, so are perfect for sentiments when you don't want to use black. I cut them into little rectangles and added them to the card front with Foam Squares. The leaves were then added randomly to the card front with Dimensional Glue to finish off the card.

I'd like to join in the following challenges with my card:

BE THE PERSON YOUR DOG THINKS YOU ARE!

Hi there,

Today I'd like to share a card with you using the new reveal set 793: Puppy Girl.

Be the Person

To begin with I stamped the image with Memento Tuxedo Black and then colored with Copics, YR00, RV42, RV95, R21, R22, E04, E13, E33, E35. For the background I took a piece of pink cardstock and covered it with a piece of Super Adhesive Sheet. I removed the protective backing and burnished Pink Spirit Sparkle N Soft onto the sticky surface.

Be the Person

I then took Rich Cocoa and inked the raised side of the Darice Paw Print Background embossing folder, The pink, flocked piece was inserted so that the ink would transfer on to the fuzzy surface.

Be the Person

This is the result - a sparkly, fuzzy background.

Be the person

I didn't want to cover up the majority of my background so I decided to make a frame around the image instead. I cut the background in half, then used the Spellbinders Mega Ovals Large to make an "opening" for my image. Place the die on the cutting plate, then position the background halves, so that the top and bottom corners are where the die will start cutting. I taped them to the plate, so they wouldn't move, then I ran it through the Big Shot.

Be the Person

The pieces were then taped down on top of the image.

Be the Person

I decided to curve the sentiment along the edge of the image. Place it on the acrylic block and bend it slightly before you ink up. I used Memento Rich Cocoa to stamp with.

Be the Person

Next step was to "give a dog a bone!" In fact he got three! I had little white bone brads, so I dipped them on my Versamark pad and then with tweezers dipped them into Vintage embossing powder and heat set them. They were then added to the image.

Be the Person

Be the Person

I attached the card front to a piece of 6" x 6" cardstock edged with 1/4" Tear-ific TapeSparkling Sands was then applied to the remaining sticky edge to finish off my card today. Not sure what that little speck is on the leash. Didn't notice it until now, but it's not on the card!

Be the Person

Hope you've enjoyed my share today,

GOOD PUDDLE!

Hi there,

Today I'd like to share a CAS card with you. Clean and simple, using Gelatos, one ink (Memento Paris Dusk) and a Versamarker Pen with two embossing powders (Clear Detail and Super Thick Clear) to produce the wet look of rain!

Firstly, rub a little of each of the Gelatos along the top edge of your watercolor paper (in order of the rainbow), then take a baby wipe and pull down the colors towards the bottom. Rub a little blue along the bottom and using the wipe, blend up into the rainbow.

Leave to dry (or speed it along with your heat tool) then stamp the two silhouette images from Stamp Set 762 Splish Splash and the sentiment from Stamp Set 760 Puddles in Memento Paris Dusk Ink. Wipe your anti-static bag over the card front before you start the embossing, then using a Versamarker Pen, outline and fill in the umbrellas with ink.

Apply Clear Detail to the first umbrella.

Have a coffee filter and Super Thick Clear ready to pour over the hot Clear Detail powder and heat from underneath this time.

I did two coats of the Super Thick Clear to make it extra shiny and dimensional. Repeat the process with the second umbrella.

Apply Super Thick Clear powder all over card, brushing off any powder that is lying "under the protection of the umbrellas". Work in sections for this step rather than trying to do the entire card at one go.

I put a lot of embossing powder over on the right side to make it look like the rain was coming down "in sheets"!

The card front was layered to a blue layer before a white card base to finish.

Love that shiny umbrella! Hope you've enjoyed my quick card for today.

Hugs,

Shona

THE RIGHT SHOES!

Hi there,

Today I'd like to share with you another card using the Birds of a Feather Set 726. I loved this cool little lady with the high heels and decided to combine the set with the Cinderella Slipper Set 528 for my card today.

I stamped the chick in Versamark and heat embossed with Dragon Fruit. I used the Spellbinders Eyelet Circles die to cut and emboss and daubered a little Memento Lulu Lavender around the image before I removed the die. She was then colored with Copics: V01, RV02, RV04 and V04. A Sakura glue pen was used to apply Lavender Iris Glitter to her wing, tail and tufts. Dimensional Glue was added to her eye and to the heels. A little thread of Diamond Mesh from Mon Ami Gabby was attached for her necklace. She was set aside at this point for the glue to dry.

To make my background I spritzed white cardstock with water and then applied some Violet Color Burst on top of the spritzed cardstock. I dried the cardstock with my heat tool. The Cinderella Slipper was stamped randomly in Versamark and heat embossed with Belgian Cream. I then decided to go over the entire background with Memento Lilac Posies, I rubbed a tissue gently over the entire piece to take any ink off the embossing powder, this really made the shoes pop!

The sentiment from the Cinderella Slipper Set was stamped in Versamark and then heat embossed with Mulberry (one of my favorite detailed Tuscany EPs that I like to use for sentiments!). It was die cut with Lifestyle Crafts Nesting Rectangles, daubered with some more Lulu Lavender.

Three brads were "blinged" with Mulberry and attached to the circle along with some pink adhesive pearls and rhinestones (Want to Scrap Bling). Three white feathers were threaded through holes and attached to the back with tape. The card was finished by layering the background piece to the card based, which had been edged with 1/2" Tear-ific Tape, then some Diamond Mesh from Mon Ami Gabby was added around the sticky edges. There was still some stickiness around the mesh and so I applied Bubble Gum glitter to take care of that! The sentiment and the image were then added with Dimensional Foam to finish up the card.

I hope I have given you some inspiration today to maybe pick up this sweet little chick set. Both of these new sets are such fun and are so versatile, they can be used for many different occasions.

Hope to see you this weekend for our Joint Blog Hop with Die-Versions where we will be featuring Cancer Awareness.

Thanks for stopping by today,
