All Things Hello Kitty!

Happy Monday Sassy People!

Kenya here to say crafting is a blessing! As a mom to five children, celebrating birthdays can be very expensive! However, I learned my die cutting machines, imagination, and the gift to be crafty has been a godsend and it saves money. My second daughter just celebrated her ninth birthday last week and we had a surprise party for her the weekend. She is a Hello Kitty fanatic! If you've been following me for a while, you already know my past struggles LOL! Honestly, I have gotten my money’s worth from the HK Greetings and Font cartridges. I am secretly happy she still loves Hello Kitty because it takes the guess work out of a theme.

Today is all things Hello Kitty! I made everything from HK tattoos to prizes. It took some time (which was limited too) but it was worth the effort and the party did not cost a fortune. The Explore had a work out! I am not sharing everything, but here’s a few projects from the party!

HK Note Pads:

Although there is only one pictured, I altered a few of these as game prizes. I purchased the notepad from the Dollar Tree. Three came in a pack. I partially covered the front with scrap pieces of card stocks. The pieces measured 2.5x4.5”. I did a print and cut on HK. Of course I forgot to change the setting on the printer and she came on in b&w. Since time was of the essence, I went with it. It worked out. Under her, I decided to stamp hello from a stamp set by CTMH. I believe it coordinates with the Artfully Sent Cricut cartridge. The girls who received one LOVED them and asked if I could make them more….we shall see!

Pin My Nose:

This was one of many party games we played. One thing that drives me crazy about Design Space is if you want to print an image, it can't be larger than a certain size. The joy of having a large format printer is the ability to print…large! I needed Hello Kitty’s face to be BIG! So to achieve this, I did a screen capture, and placed the image in Photoshop. **DISCLOSURE- I own the Hello Kitty Greetings and Font cartridges. I am in no way encouraging anyone do this!!** I enlarged her, added “Pin My Nose” and printed it on a large piece of material.

For the nose pieces, I resized a circle from the basic shapes and added numbers using the Cricut Alphabet cartridge. I am so happy I added numbers as identifiers. I added a little adhesive to the back. One thing I forgot to do was cut them on colored card stock, but it still worked out. As you can see, some of the “noses” never touched the game LOL. Easy Peasy!!

Piñata:

This is my most proudest project for this party!! It never occurred to me, none of my children ever had a piñata! One of the girls mentioned they should have one. After going on Amazon and to the store to price out some out, I couldn't bring myself to spend $20ish for something they were going to beat and destroy…so I decided to have at it! The only thing was, how was I going to make it? I remember as a child, making one as the balloon being the form of it and adding newspaper, paste and water mixture to it. We let it harden and added tissue paper to it. I admit, it was the ugliest thing but we had fun hitting it for the candy. I didn't want to do that though! I thought to cut out HK’s shape and add masking tape and the whole nine yards. Then I realized I don't have that kind of time. While I was asleep, the Lord showed me exactly what to do! I used the largest cereal box I could find (Giant Corn Pops box). I filled it with candies and taped the top. I added white tissue paper to mute the colors on the cereal box. Then I took pink streamers, slit the pieces (wish I had fringe scissors) and glued them in place. After that dried, I placed the HK image to it…a HK piñata!! The best thing is it costed me $5 ($3.48 for the cereal and 50¢ for the streamer) to make plus the cost of candy!! I love the way it turned out!! My daughter was super excited too!

They needed something to hold the candy right? HK image (HK Font cartridge), Wild Card (thanks) and brown lunch bag…

Here are a few additional photos of the girls wacking the piñata…of course I was so caught up, I forgot to take a picture of the aftermath….it was not pretty!

After calculating the decor, cupcakes (of course they were HK) and food, it cost me approximately $50! Who says you have to spend a lot to have FUN? Everyone had a great time!

I hope you enjoyed today’s projects! Remember to stop by often to check out the wonderful talent on She’s a Sassy Lady…thanks for stopping by, Kenya~

True Love

Happy Sizzling July Sassy People!

It’s Kenya here on this beautiful July 3rd! I had so many 4th of July plans to share BUT my plans crumbled. Love can bring metaphoric fireworks right? I know, kind of a stretch! Well, I have an anniversary card to share today!

My pastors celebrated 16 years of marriage. I would say some kind of fireworks had to be ignited…at least sparklers? If you knew them, you would understand the love and affection they share with each other.

Ok, enough with puns, on to the project! I used Design Space to design the card. I used the Sweethearts and Beyond Birthdays cartridges. I selected the images I desired and imported them onto the virtual mat. I made the frame by inserting a shape (square) and resizing it into a rectangle. Once  I was satisfied with the size, I duplicated the shape, aligned it and sliced the shape.

Then I took the word “Love” and duplicated that twice and lined it up inside the frame. Then I added “True love” to the bottom and welded the words and shape together. After I was happy with the design, I cut them out using the Bo Bunny Crush collection and solid white Neenah white card stock. The little hearts were on the side and cut later. I also cut the “L” for love in a solid black. I later added “16” to represent the number of years of marriage.

Once everything was cut out, I layered the pattern paper on the card stock for stability. I added the transparency to build a shaker card (last minute decision). I used the hearts (which were going to be added to the front) as the confetti and added some sequins to the inside. I also have the “16” peaking out at the bottom. For a finishing touch and shimmer, I added a little Wink of Stella to the “True Love”.

Here is the finished card:

I hope you enjoyed today’s project! Remember to check back regularly to see more awesome projects from the talented DT! Enjoy the holiday! Kenya~

Thank You Card - Anna Griffin Style

It's Saturday morning and a great time to make a card using some of Anna Griffin's supplies and your Cricut Explore and Cuttlebug! All kinds of fun! Grab a cup of coffee and join me in making this great thank you card.

See how easy it was I chose my papers from the last HSN special featuring Anna Griffin, then I got the Anna Griffin Lace dies that my friend Pam Ramesh of the BugBytes gave me for my birthday. I am not much of a die cutter so I didn't do that on line but cut my pieces out. I had trouble with one Sizzix die but I think I used to light of a cut of paper.... but I still used it anyway.

Didn't the card turn out beautiful? I am so excited as I even used my new Minc. AWESOME!

My flower was off Design Space free to subscribers. I just searched for a rose and chose the one I liked, did a print and cut and this card was ready to go.

I want you to see the close up so you can see how detailed this card is. And, you can also see it has plenty of layers and dimension.

And the last little close up. I sure hope you enjoyed today's post and learned a little something. As you can see I had fun with all my new goodies and had so much fun. Thank you again Pam... love you and hope to see you soon.

Thank you for your sweet-sweet words of encouragement. Your comments continue to inspire me to continue sharing with you.

Have a blessed weekend!

Easel Cards And Learning How To Move You Mats On The Explore

Good morning, I am having so much fun using my Explore and I used it a lot for these 10 cards. They all had the same style but I used 6x6 sheets of paper and scrap paper to make them. I did a lots of moving on the mats so please watch the video below to see how easy that is.

See how easy that was? just move your pieces on the mat and you can cut to fit the paper you have.
Now all we have to do is put these cards together...

It took a little time to put the cards together as I made 2 cards of each color so it was a little extra time to cut and put together. The little animals were easy all I had to do is weld some hearts on the animals, weld them together, flatten then do a print and cut.

Here is the cute little monkey cards.

Dinosaur.

Zebra.

Crab and a Koala bear.

The Crab and Seal.

And finally a monkey and a seal.
I hope you liked today's post. I enjoyed sharing with you. Thank you for your sweet words of inspiration. Your comments continue to encourage me.

Learning How To Use The Slice Feature On Design Space

Isn't this little southern belle bear just adorable? I just love playing with my Explore and Design Space as it offers so many features to make designing easier. I never thought I would set aside my Gypsy Woman, but I have. Join me today and learn how you too can make a project using the slice feature. This is just a short video and it will help you.

Now wasn't that easy? I always put my project back together when I adjust it so it is easy to remember just what it looks like. Then I play with the colors to make sure it will look ok using the paper I have.

Well I hope you enjoyed today's post and learned something along the way.
Thank you for your sweet-sweet words of encouragement.  Your comments continue to inspire me. Have a blessed day.

Learn How To Make A Shape Card On Design Space

Here is my cute little hedgehog. All you have to do is make an inquiry on your design space and then choose the artwork you like too.

Now wasn't that easy? The programmers for Provocraft did a wonderful job designing this program. It is so much easier than the Gypsy I can hardly believe it. This is the first time that I did a video capturing my screen so please be patient. There is one thing that the video cut off (it will only do 10 minutes) and that is to attach the score line. So after you group it also use your attach button in the edit box and it will work out great.

I hope your enjoyed this video. See how easy it was to put together....

This is a closeup of the paper I used. It is from My Minds Eye and it is so nice and shiney I love it. The photo on Design Space was solid colors but I thought I would Sass it up a little.

I did use glossy accents as you can see and it is still wet but you can see it looks adorable.

This is the inside of the card. I used a stamp from Joy's Life, the Barnyard Punny set.

Well I sure hope you liked today's post and learned a little something from the two videos. If there is something you would like to learn or can't figure out on DS just contact me.

Now wasn't that easy? And, I have to tell you she loved this card.

Here is a close up of the front of the card.

Notice how I used glitter paper to make her name stand out?

This is the inside of the card. Easy card to put together and so fun at the same time. I hope you enjoyed today's post.

Joy To The World Christmas Window Card

Isn't this a beautiful little card. I have a light on the side of it so you can see that it is a window card, complete with a window. I love window cards and was thrilled when I figure out how to do them on my Explore... even more thrilled that it was easier than on the CCR or Gypsy! Originally I was making this card for a card party and cut out 12! Well after getting them all cut out I decided that I wanted to keep them for myself as I make my own cards and I love religious cards so this one is perfect.

Now wasn't that a lot easier than you thought? I used a lot of glitter pager from My Minds Eye. And I want to remind you that this particular card that I am showing has every blunder cut that happened. I had to get some new mats out then all went well.  Let's see if this works..... this is the url to the file you must be signed into your Design Space account.

This is a close up of the front and as you can see it does have a window in the card.

Close up of the inside. I used a stamp and ink from close to my heat. It is beautiful.

Here is another close up of the card I wish the picture looked as good as the card, as it is stunning and just shimmers as you hold it in the light.

Thank you for joining me today. I enjoyed sharing my card with you and hope you liked it too. Thanks for your sweet-sweet words of encouragement. Your comments always inspire me to continue sharing with you. Have a blessed week.
