Blog Tour: Her Hiding Place by Shannon Hollinger

Published January 31, 2025
buy on amazon

As I turn the key in the lock, I tell myself that I’m a good mother. I’m doing this to keep my little girl safe. No one knows she’s hidden in my room, or who I really am. But if they ever did, we’d have to run for our lives.

As I push my cleaning cart around this luxury hotel, I try to tell myself I’m doing the right thing. I look just like any other maid. No one even notices me. But I see and hear everything

I breathe a sigh of relief when I close my door behind me. I’ve made it through another day without anyone discovering that I’m hiding my toddler Alice in my room.

I know the other staff would judge me for keeping her locked away. But I have no choice. They have no idea what we’re running from. And if anyone sees her, we’ll need to run again.

I thought this remote resort was far enough from my past, and we could finally start over. But our hiding place is shattered when one of the other maids is killed. It feels too familiar. And deep down I know—this is a message for me.

Someone here knows about my past. And when I run back to my room to check on Alice, my blood turns to ice when I find she’s gone.

How far will I have to go to get my child back? And what will happen when they find out who Alice really is…?

MY REVIEW:

Her Hiding PlaceHer Hiding Place by Shannon Hollinger
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I was hooked on this book from the very beginning It takes place on island and a major hurricane is about to hit. It goes back and forth from the present to the past and is clearly titled on the pages to let you know.
Charlotte is on the run with her 3 year old daughter , Alice. She gets a job at a resort but keeps her daughter a secret so she can keep her job. They are given a room in the attic , where Alice has to play quietly while Charlotte is working.
We know they are from an abusive relationship but from who exactly we aren't sure.
Charlotte becomes friends with 2 of her co workers and finally confides in one of them.
I enjoyed the story and getting to know the characters. I didn't trust one of them and I was right on that one. Was a couple of twists towards the end which I didn't see.
Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the book to review.

We had a plan. He broke the rules. But who will pay the price?

A completely gripping and addictive thriller from the number 1 ebook bestselling author K.L. Slater, The Married Man will have you glued to the pages until the very last twist. Perfect for fans of Lisa Jewell and Freida McFadden.

Blog Tour: My Sister's Boyfriend by Nicola Marsh

Published September 9, 2024
buy on Amazon

Brooke’s face lights up and the corners of her eyes crinkle as she smiles brightly at her new boyfriend. He gently pulls her in, nestling her cheek on his chest. But when he turns his head towards me, my blood runs cold. I know my sister’s life is in danger…

I would recognize that face anywhere. Handsome and chiseled. The perfect mask. I prayed I would never see Noel Harwood again, but here he is, sneering at me over Brooke’s shoulder.

I want to protect her, but I remember the last time I saw her. Voice dripping with venom, she said she would never forgive my betrayal. I want to scream at her to run and tell her that Noel has done terrible things, but the words die in my throat. I’ve lied too often for her to believe me over her knight-in-shining-armor.

I need to be smart if I want to save my sister. Noel might think he’s one step ahead, but he has no idea what I’m capable of. He could never imagine the darkness that lurks in our family. Or the truth about what happened on the jagged clifftop, all those years ago.

I nearly lost Brooke once, and I’ll never let that happen again. I’ll do whatever it takes to protect her…

MY REVIEW:

My Sister's BoyfriendMy Sister's Boyfriend by Nicola Marsh
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book had me from the beginning, I could not put it down. You have different families that seem dysfunctional. They don't know each other.
Brooke starts seeing someone and he happened to have spent time in prison. He accidently killed his brother. As we get to know these 2, Brooke's sister does not want them together. She doesn't trust Noel and gets bad vibes from him. Her family also is reeling from a secret that they are trying to overcome.
As we get to know Noel and his background and family, I liked him.
I did starts to see some of the twists that happened near the end,

book review: House of Glass by Sarah Pekkanen

First published August 6, 2024
Buy on Amazon

On the outside they were the golden family with the perfect life. On the inside they built the perfect lie.

A young nanny who plunged to her death, or was she pushed? A nine-year-old girl who collects sharp objects and refuses to speak. A lawyer whose job it is to uncover who in the family is a victim and who is a murderer. But how can you find out the truth when everyone here is lying?

Rose Barclay is a nine-year-old girl who witnessed the possible murder of her nanny - in the midst of her parent's bitter divorce - and immediately stopped speaking. Stella Hudson is a best interest attorney, appointed to serve as counsel for children in custody cases. She never accepts clients under thirteen due to her own traumatic childhood, but Stella's mentor, a revered judge, believes Stella is the only one who can help.

From the moment Stella passes through the iron security gate and steps into the gilded, historic DC home of the Barclays, she realizes the case is even more twisted, and the Barclay family far more troubled, than she feared. And there's something eerie about the house itself: It's a plastic house, with not a single bit of glass to be found.

As Stella comes closer to uncovering the secrets the Barclays are desperate to hide, danger wraps around her like a shroud, and her past and present are set on a collision course in ways she never expected. Everyone is a suspect in the nanny's murder. The mother, the father, the grandmother, the nanny's boyfriend. Even Rose. Is the person Stella's supposed to protect the one she may need protection from?

MY REVIEW:

House of GlassHouse of Glass by Sarah Pekkanen
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

A young Nanny falls through a window and the little girl no longer is talking. Not only that but all glass is being replaced with plastic or plexiglass.Everyone seems to be guilty of who knows what happened to the nanny and did she fall or was she pushed.
The parents are getting divorced and we find out secrets about them. The grandmother also lives in the house but she walks with a cane and can't get around real well. The little girl is stealing objects that are sharp. Just what is going on this house?
Stella is sent as a child advocate and to see what is going on with her and if she can get the little girl to talk.
I enjoyed this thriller and received it from NetGalley and St. Martin's for the ARC to read.

Two women claim that Lola belongs to them. Two women with something to hide. Only one is telling the whole truth… Who will you believe?

MY REVIEW:

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

You have 2 women saying that the daughter is theirs. 1 of them is lying.
On the way home from vacation Lola is taken and the parents are devastated. Who would do this? Where is she?
I did not like the husband in this book and especially not his mother. She was the MIL from hell. He was to secretive in my opinion.
I read this book in 1 day and could not put it down. I had to find out who was lying and why.

Blog Tour: The Housemaid is Watching by Freida McFadden

“You must be our new neighbors!” Mrs. Lowell gushes and waves across the picket fence. I clutch my daughter’s hand and smile back: but the second Mrs. Lowell sees my husband a strange expression crosses her face. In that moment I make a promise. We finally have a family home. My past is far, far behind us. And I’ll do anything to keep it that way…

I used to clean other people’s houses—now, I can’t believe this home is actually mine. The charming kitchen, the quiet cul-de-sac, the huge yard where my kids can play. My husband and I saved for years to give our children the life they deserve.

Even though I’m wary of our new neighbor Mrs. Lowell, when she invites us over for dinner it’s our chance to make friends. Her maid opens the door wearing a white apron, her hair in a tight bun. I know exactly what it’s like to be in her shoes. But her cold stare gives me chills…

The Lowells’ maid isn’t the only strange thing on our street. I’m sure I see a shadowy figure watching us. My husband leaves the house late at night. And when I meet a woman who lives across the way, her words chill me to the bone: Be careful of your neighbors.

Did I make a terrible mistake moving my family here?

I thought I’d left my darkest secrets behind. But could this quiet suburban street be the most dangerous place of all?

From New York Times, USA Today and Wall Street Journal bestselling author Freida McFadden comes the next installment of the unbelievably twisty, tension-packed and globally bestselling Housemaid series. This book can be enjoyed as a standalone read: and once you start, it will have you up all night racing through the pages until the final explosive twist.

MY REVIEW:

The Housemaid Is Watching (The Housemaid, #3)The Housemaid Is Watching by Freida McFadden
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

When the family moves into their new house there is a nosy neighbor right away and another one who flirts all the time with the husband. So right off the bat I could not wait to see what happens. Mrs. Lowell does not stop leaving Enzo alone, Even having him help her with her backyard and she will give him his name to her clients, as she is a real estate person.
Then their son becomes violent and not his self. Their daughter is still the same but not quite sure what to think of her brother.
We also meet the neighbor's maid who is now coming to Millie's house twice a month.
There were somethings that I had a feeling of what was gong on but not quite all of it, and some twists I did not see.

Blog Tour: The Woman at my Wedding by L.G. Davis

publication June 13, 2024
Buy on Amazon

I’ve dreamed of this day forever. But will it be my last?

My stomach flutters as I try on my shimmering wedding dress with my two closest friends. In just a few weeks I’m going to marry the man of my dreams. I can’t believe the next time Nathan sees me it’ll be when I walk down the aisle. I’ve never told him my real name, and I hate lying to him. But it’s for his own good, and nobody could love him more than me. I’ve been through so much; don’t I deserve this happiness?

As I’m gazing at my reflection in the mirror, there’s a knock on the door and when I open it my heart leaps into my throat. Right in front of me is someone I hoped I’d never see again: my mother-in-law.

Nathan doesn’t speak to her, and the estrangement has been a huge relief to me. Because Debbie knows my secret. And she could ruin everything…

From the moment she sweeps in, it’s clear that if I don’t let my mother-in-law stay, she won’t stay quiet about my dark past. But she has no idea how far I’ll go to stop her destroying everything I’ve worked for.

But when I realise my friends have been lying to me too, I wonder if my mother-in-law is really the person I need to worry about. Is there another woman in my life who is determined not only to ruin my wedding, but to take my life?

An utterly heart-pounding and nail-biting new novel from bestseller L.G. Davis. This twisty, gasp-out-loud thriller is perfect for fans of Gone Girl, Teresa Driscoll and Freida McFadden.

MY REVIEW:

The Woman at My Wedding (Broken Vows #1)The Woman at My Wedding by L.G. Davis
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Wow, I could not believe the gall of Debbie and how she treated Brynn.
Brynn is getting ready to marry Nathan and they are using a wedding planner, who is a friend of theirs. Debbie shows up and Nathan hasn't spoken to his mother in years and does not want her at the wedding. Brynn says she won't tell Nathan as he is busy with a court case. Brynn's maid of honor is also helping out with wedding plans.
We also know there is a woman who is watching Brynn all the time and wants Nathan for herself and is out to ruin the wedding plans.
The ending has some twists that I did not see coming and one twist that I saw coming but with the wrong person.
I read this in one sitting and could not put it down.

Book Review: Nowhere To Hide by Keri Beevis

Duncan Stone is one of the country's most eligible and handsome bachelors, and he wants to take me, Callie Parker, on a date. At first I am surprised and flattered, the envy of my friends. Then when our whirlwind romance escalates and he asks me to move in with him, it's like a dream come true. But as I get to really know my new boyfriend, my fairytale turns into a nightmare. Duncan is no Prince Charming. He is the Devil. Isolated from my friends and family, watched day and night, a prisoner in my own life, I know if I am going to survive, I need to escape. When a chance encounter with an old friend throws me a lifeline, I realise this is my live or die moment, and I find a hiding place deep in the Norfolk countryside. I'm supposed to feel safe here, so why do I hear footsteps outside my hideaway late at night, and sense that someone is watching me? Is it paranoia, or has Duncan managed to find me?
Or perhaps the danger is closer to home than I realise.

MY REVIEW:

Nowhere to HideNowhere to Hide by Keri Beevis
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Duncan is charming and handsome but underneath he is a control freak, a nightmare, and a devil all rolled into one.
When he takes a liking to Callie, the relationship moves fast. Then he isolates her. Makes it look like she is not stable to her family and her job. He s abusive both physically and mentally.. She even gets rid of her dog to keep the dog safe.
Then she decides to go to her sister for help but that backfires. But help she does get and tries to start over again by old friends. Even to start a new relationship with a man. Someone I liked from the start.
I could not put this book down and I hope to read more books by this author.

June and her housemates need a new housemate to help with rent . So they now have Poppy. But things start happening with June and it looks like Poppy has it out for her or is June making things up?I liked the friendships between the women until Poppy shows up. I even like June's new boyfriend.

I loved this book and was giving it a 4 star until the very end. This is supposed to be a standalone but it was ended with a cliffhanger. That should not ever happen in standalones.

The GuestThe Guest by B.A. Paris
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Iris and Gabrielle have come home from vacation and when they get home there is a guest in their house. Their close friend , Laure has left her husband, Pierre. Saying that he told her he had a child with someone else.
They also meet their new neighbors and their new gardener who comes to help Gabrielle with hs garden.
I wasn't very trusting of the new neighbor for some reason.. She just seemed a little off to me.
If I was Iris and Gabrielle then I would have had to say something to Laure about her staying to long. she was driving Iris crazy. But the ending I did not see coming.

How far would you go to protect your child?

I knew something was wrong. It’s a mother’s instinct.

I could tell when my son started hiding things from me. He used to walk to school with a mischievous grin on his beautiful face. Now he avoids eye contact and keeps his head down.

Since I discovered he’s being bullied by a classmate, I’ve spent every day worrying, my stomach churning with anxiety from the moment he leaves the house to the second he walks back through the door.

Everyone keeps telling me I’m overreacting, but I won’t risk my child’s safety. My husband and I try to talk to the other boy’s parents, but it only makes things worse…

Then our precious child is hurt. Enough is enough. It has to stop. Even if that means taking matters into our own hands.

Because we know the truth about the family targeting our son – it’s not the first time they’ve done this.

So the question is, exactly how far will we go to get revenge?

A nail-biting, page-turning psychological thriller from the number one bestselling author of The Doctor’s Wife. If you love Behind Closed Doors, Gone Girl and The Housemaid, you’ll be hooked on The Couple’s Revenge.

MY REVIEW:

4/5 stars

A story of a bully who had 1 young girl commit suicide. Nothing was done to the bully or parents except he was expelled from the school and allowed into another school. We find out the parents of the boy don't care and don't think it is anyone's fault, much less their son that the girl commited suicide. Well now he is bullying someone else and these parents are not going to give up until the boy and his parents are held accountable, The one thing I didn't like s how it always seems like the victims are more to blame than the bully and the police and school don't listen. Sometimes the parents protecting their own children don't know where to turn to next I would have given this book 5 stars because the story had me so riveted but the ending left me hanging with questions. Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the ebook to review.

Blog Tour: Husband and Wife by K.L Slater

We promised to keep each other’s secrets. Until they found the body…
The Wife:
My husband and I are fighting for our lives in hospital after a terrible car accident. But despite my pain, all I can think about is what our families will find behind our front door. The scarf that has been all over the news, belonging to a dead young woman with honey-coloured hair. I have to speak to the police before my husband can…
The Husband:
I’m drifting in and out of consciousness, but when I hear my wife talking to the police, accusing me of the murder of an innocent woman, a cold fear grips me. I know I’ve got a temper. That I’ve not always been faithful. Will they think I killed her?
I think of my wife’s jealous streak, of the lies she’s told our loved ones. But if I tell the whole truth, they’ll look into her past. And that will destroy me, too…
Two people fighting for their lives. Two people with secrets to hide. Who will you believe?
A completely compelling and twisty page-turner from number 1 bestselling author K.L. Slater. Fans of Lisa Jewell and Freida McFadden will be hooked by Husband and Wife.

Husband and Wife: A completely gripping and unputdownable psychological thriller with a shocking twist by K L Slater

A husband and wife, Luna and Parker seem to have marital problems and then it seems that Parker got in over his head and is in trouble. Luna's parents are snobs, have money and seem to control their daughter's life along with Parkers. Parker's parents are the opposite but he isn't close to his dad, just his mom. An accident happens which causes and effect you would not believe. The twist at the end was a little bit more than I had expected but there was one twist I wasn't really surprised. Thank you to Bookouture and NetGalley for the arc.

Book Review: Dirty Laundry by Disha Bose

Published April 4, 2023

A twisty, domestic suspense debut about a clique of mothers that shatters when one of their own is murdered, bringing chaos to their curated lives.

She was the perfect wife, with the perfect life. You would kill to have it…

Ciara Dunphy has it all—a loving husband, well-behaved children, and a beautiful home. Her circle of friends in their small Irish village go to her for tips about mothering, style, and influencer success—a picture-perfect life is easy money on Instagram. But behind the filters, reality is less polished.

Enter Mishti Guha: Ciara’s best friend. Ciara welcomed Mishti into her inner circle for being... unlike the other mothers in the group. But, discontent in a marriage arranged for her through her parents back in Calcutta, Mishti now raises her young daughter in a country that is too cold, among the children of her new friends who look nothing like her. She just wants what Ciara has—the ease with which she moves through the world—and in that sense, Mishti might be exactly like the other mothers.

And there’s earth mother Lauren Doyle, born, bred, and the butt of jokes in their village. With her disheveled partner and children who run naked in the yard, they’re mostly a happy lot, though unsurprisingly ostracized for being the singular dysfunction in Ciara’s immaculate world. When Lauren finds an unlikely ally in Mishti, she decides that her days of ridicule are over.

Then Ciara is found murdered in her own pristine home, and the house of cards she’d worked so hard to build comes crumbling down. Everyone seems to have something to gain from Ciara’s death, so if they don’t want the blame, it may be the perfect time to air their enemies’ dirty laundry.

In this dazzling debut novel, Disha Bose revolutionizes age-old ideas of love and deceit. What ensues is the delicious unspooling of a group of women desperate to preserve themselves.

Dirty LaundryDirty Laundry by Disha Bose
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Ciara seems to have it all but she is not a nice person and to me is false. She is what I would call a mean girl but she is a wife, mother and friend sometimes.
Mishti Guha is her so called best friend.
Lauren Doyle is the mother next door and the brunt of most jokes.
Then Ciara is found murdered in her home.
We go back and forth to present and past and what leads up to the murder. The more I read, the more I disliked Ciara. Lots of secrets come out as well with all of them and their spouses.
I found it was an ok book. I didn't love it or dislike it. I really didn't care for any of the characters.
Thank you to NetGalley and Random House for the book to review,

Book Review: The Slumber Party by Shannon Hollinger

Published March 22, 2023

Ten years ago: On a warm summer’s evening, four childhood friends gather at a slumber party… Before dawn breaks, the nightmare begins. One of them dies. One of them is a killer.

Liz was the bubbly girl-next-door. She could never have imagined how everything would fall apart.

Sami was the clever one, quieter than the others. She was meant to keep all their secrets…

Amy had the voice of an angel, destined for Hollywood. She would never make it there.

Mo was leader of the group, charismatic and protective. But she was not who she appeared to be…

They were childhood friends, on the cusp of the rest of their lives. They’d shared everything with each other. Or so they thought… Until one of them died.

Today: Liz tries not to think about the night that destroyed their lives. She focuses on her beloved husband and their sweet-eyed daughter. But when she receives a note, there’s no more running away: “I’m back. Did you miss me?”

A wave of dizziness crashes over her. Her best friend can’t be back. She’s dead. So who sent the note? What do they know? And, most terrifying of all, are they planning to make her pay for what happened…?

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book changes from the past, 10 years ago, to the present with 4 best friends.
They seem like best friends on the outside and what they want everyone to believe but what you find out as the story goes on that what you see may not be the truth.
I could not put this down, I had to know what really happened on prom night.
