Elaine Seaman's Fabulous Pine Burr Quilt!

This stunning Pine Burr quilt is the creation of Elaine Seaman (Lakeside Quilters, Standish, Maine).
This isn't an easy quilt to make. You need an adventurous spirit and Elaine has it! Nice work!

Here's what Elaine says about her quilt:
I never make the same thing twice and this caught my eye for a challenge. You inspire those of us on a mission to step out of the quilting box. 😃 I hang them in my small hair salon so that the non perfectionists in the quilting world know they can try anything that catches their eye. You caught mine !

Outstanding Pine Burr Quilt by Tara Faughnan

This stunning Pine Burr quilt is the creation of Tara Faughnan of California. It was a prize-winning quilt at QuiltCon 2016. Tara said that she designed and made this quilt row by row, not knowing when she started what the finshed quilt design would look like.

Pine Burr Quilt from The Netherlands

This stunning Pine Burr quilt was made by Annemieke of The Netherlands. Her blog is: Colours and Fabrics. Her quilt will be on exhibit this month in The Netherlands.

Annemieke sewed her quilting stitches in the red cornerstones and between some of the pine burrs. She made her quilt before I published my pattern. Our quilts are very similar, but hers is bigger. She plans to make more in the future, but right now I have no such plans!

Annemieke taught me a word in her language: "groetjes." It means something like best regards, but in an informal way. So, groetjes everyone!

Pine Burr Quilt and Pattern are Finished!

Now I can cross this off my Bucket List! It really is an amazing quilt with so much texture that you can't help but pet it. It's fun to make too. See the pattern here.

See my Pine Burr pattern. Please Pin this for me. Thanks!

Fun With Striped Pine Burrs

Making pine burrs with striped fabric is fun. You can make a ring of horizontal stripe burrs, then flip the next row upside-down and use them as vertical stripes! They are all made exactly the same way.

The pine burr quilt is almost done. I'm quilting it now.

Progress on the Pine Burr Quilt

All the pine burr blocks are finished! Next comes the sashing and assembly. Maybe the sashing should be gathered so it's more 3-D, compatible with the thick blocks. The sashing will make the circles look rounder because it will hide the slightly wonky outer edge of the blocks.

I had a relaxing weekend: sewing, listening to music and podcasts, reading, having tea outside enjoying the birds, baking, and going out for dinner with my DS. I hope you did too.

Pine Burr Update

Here's my progress so far. I will add sashing (maybe black and white). It will have 9 blocks total. And batting, even though this already weighs a ton. I don't want there to be any question about whether this is really a quilt in case I ever want to enter it in a quilt show. I'm considering the fabric on the right for the border. I know it's a little gaudy, but that's what makes it suitable for this quilt. Haha. The block in the lower right corner has some pine burrs made from striped fabric, in case you were wondering about the little navy blue and white lines. My favorite block (so far) is the one in the center. I hope to spend some time on this today too. My husband is hiking in the White Mountains this weekend. Good sewing time. :)

Pine Burr Quilt

This is my current project: a Pine Burr quilt. This is my first block. It's getting easier as I go. It takes a lot of fabric, that's for sure! I'm on block #5 now. Stay tuned.

P.S. Thanks for all the recent Pins!

Pine Burr Quilt!

This awesome quilt is the creation of Nifty Quilts
Each "pine burr" is made from a 3" square,
folded twice on the diagonal, and each block has about 144 burrs.
Follow the link to Nifty's blog to see how to do this.
I think the floral fabric in the outer border is just perfect!
The sashing is denim. Oh Nifty, you rock!

The Pine Burr Quilt is the official state quilt of Alabama
Gee, I wonder if Connecticut has an official state quilt.
