Doesn't this photo warm your heart? These pretty girls are modeling hand-dyed dresses made by their Mom, Kim Lapacek of Persimon Dreams
The photo was taken by Karmen Linder Photography

P.S. My Mom got me yesterday on April Fool's Day! A bogus story about her car being damaged on Easter. Yup, I fell for it. Arrgh!

Lilly Belle Fabrics at Plum Patchwork!

Look at this gorgeous fabric that I found on Etsy! It's called Lilly Belle Garden Rocket Ruby Mustard Yellow Floral Fabric. Haha, that's what Jessica of Plum Patchwork calls it in her ad. (Jessica has a dog named Kona. Are quilters funny or what?) This fabric was designed by Bari J. Ackerman for Art Gallery Fabrics

And here are some more photos from her shop. Who can post just one fabric photo? Not me.

Below is Lilly Belle Lilly Bouquet in dark gray.

This is Lilly Belle Flowerpop Zesty Gold (below). It comes in pink too.

And finally, Boys Will Be Boys by David Walker for Free Spirit. I'm not even a "dog person," but I think this is so cute.

A New Chapter in Purses

What a clever idea from Novel Creations on Etsy! Made by Karen H. from Texas. This purse measures 7" x 10" and you can choose from several handles. It sells for $45.

Karen works in a used book store where she finds lots of books to be upcycled into distinctive purses. You can order a custom purse too. Nice work, Karen!

Nancy Tanguay's New York Beauties

These stunning quilts are the work of my friend Nancy Tanguay from nearby Warren, CT. She has a shop on Etsy called  Uniquely Nancy. I was reading my new issue of Quilter's Newsletter today and I saw the first quilt featured in an article about Bill Volckening's stunning collection of NY Beauty quilts. The second quilt shown here is available for sale in Nancy's shop. Nice job, Nancy!

Sea Urchin Pincushion!

This is my new Sea Urchin! It's a silk pincushion on a round glass dish, topped with 60 pinsies! I love the busyness of the whole thing, like a scrap quilt. This looks awesome in my quilt studio. And when you're on the phone, you can take them out and rearrange them. See this in my Etsy store.

Meet Margie from Ohio

I met Margie Homan of Colorful Me from Middletown, Ohio on Etsy. She makes fabulous handmade jewelry from polymer clay. She has a studio in the Pendleton Art Center and you are all invited to visit her there. I'd love to watch her make jewelry. Pink bracelet details here.

Margie says that when she was trying to make the bubbling swirls necklace above, it started to look like an animal with a turquoise eye in the upper left side. So she went with it and called it "Friendly Animal." Haha.

Margie's sister gave her lots of colored embroidery thread and this was the result!

Knitted Log Cabin from Turkey!

This log cabin is knitted! It's the creation of Bilge Erata of Ankara, Turkey. She backed it with fabric for more stability. See details here on Etsy.

This is what she writes about learning to knit when she was little:
"When I was a little girl, I told my mother that I wanted to learn knitting. She stopped a little while, and said: "You are so young that I can't give you knitting needles..." I felt like crying. Then she started to look at my hands. There were two plastic sticks of lollipops in my hands. And she said: "... But....why don't you start knitting with these?" That was the first day of smiling to a new dream..my knitting dream."

Knitted Chair from South Africa

This knitted chair cover was made by Lynn Garrett of Napier, (very South) South Africa. She sells this on her Etsy store Biscuit Scout for $690. She'll also knit one to your specifications. This all started for Lynn when she decided to knit a cover for her aging washing machine! Okaaay. I'd like to see her house, wouldn't you? I bet it's beautiful, and full of surprises. Thanks for the creative inspiration, Lynn!

Chairs from Istanbul, Turkey

I was browsing for unique chairs and found interior decorator Jo Supara Tarakci's Name Design Studio on Etsy. She's from Thailand, now living in Istanbul, Turkey. The cost of shipping a big chair like the one above to the US is about $500. But the fun of browsing is that you don't have to be concerned with practicalities like that, right? I'm showing some pretty wild things here lately; what's happening to me? I think it's going to start showing up in my quilts. Stay tuned!

Not Your Mother's Sweater!

I just found this $758 sweater on Etsy, and I thought, "This is something my blog friends have to see!" It was made by Enlightened Platypus of Denver, Colorado. It's a custom order so you can't just click over there and buy it, but she has more. Look at that tail on the hood; it falls all the way to the floor. Doesn't this kind of remind you of the second quilt in yesterday's post? (P.S. My Mom and I wear the same kind of sweaters, Lands End, on sale too. Haha.)

This one is by Katwise, and she sells a tutorial so you can see how to make this. Aren't you curious? Maybe the method could be adapted to quilts. The gears are starting to turn!!

Can you believe this quilt?? It's offered for sale by Susan Nichols from Swanky Texas Vintage. The quilt is listed for $1,200. If you follow the Swanky link, you can see more photos of this sampler. And here she is on facebook. Something about this quilt really appeals to me! The busyness I guess. Wow!

Meet Photographer/Graphic Artist Agnieszka

Did you know that you can buy a custom banner for your Etsy store on Etsy? For less than $9! Agnieszka from Europe will take images from your Etsy store listings and make a stunning banner to match your store. She made the banner for my store and I love it. I asked her to make changes twice, and she made just what I wanted, and she worked fast too. Her store is Magnesina. I heartily recommend her.

Agnieszka sells fabulous photography too (see example below.) Some photos are only $13. Sale going on now. Take a look.

Do You Have an Etsy Store?

If you have an Etsy store please tell us your shop's name in the Comments so we can visit.
I'm getting my store geared up now. I'll show it to you soon. :)

The quilt in the photo was made by Nancy in Warren, CT, and she's listing it in her Etsy shop UniquelyNancy. I'll meet Nancy for the first time today. We're meeting for tea halfway between her house and mine. What do you think we'll talk about? Gee, I wonder!
