Memorial Quilt

My friend Martha passed away in February. This quilt is for her daughter Katie. Last year at Katie's wedding shower someone asked her what her favorite color is and she said red. I was thinking of that when I chose this quilt for her. I hope she likes it. The machine quilting was done by Linda Aquavia of New Hartford, CT. See the Houndstooth quilt pattern here

Here it is, wrapped and ready to go. Sent USPS Priority, she probably received it yesterday.

Joan's Memory Shirt Quilt

Joan Jordan made this beautiful quilt for her mother using shirts that belonged to her step-father. The planes on the back are in recognition of his service in the Army Air Corps.
Her mom keeps this quilt on her bed. Aw, sweet.

Joan added the green fabric for a subtle punch. Nice job, Joan! Thanks for sharing the photos.

Shirting Quilt

This quilt is from Quilter's Pastiche on Tumbler. It looks like it was made from a collection of shirts. The buttons go well with the shirts. It looks like lots of cuffs. She varied the direction of the stripes. This would make a nice memorial quilt.

When This You See, Remember Me

I made this quilt in memory of my two grandmothers. It carries a lot of sweet memories: playing with buttons and the pearl necklace, flowers, having tea, and butterflies in the garden. I love how the super jumbo ric rac gives the outer edge a postage stamp look. The words are written with buttons, including an old Girl Scout uniform button.

See all the fan blocks? Here's the pattern for them.

Lisa's Memorial Bears!

Lisa Schultheis from New Jersey has a wonderful idea! She makes bears from sport jackets or dresses. She made a bear using the dress her mother wore to her brother's wedding and gave it to him the Christmas after their mother passed away. What a sweet idea! Lisa sells them for about $25 on her Esty store: earthluv. This bear is about 18" tall. Lovable, don't you think?

Amazing Sept. 11 Memorial Quilt

Sherri Lynn Wood of the daintytime blog is making this Sept. 11 memorial quilt. She had help from her quilting buddies embroidering all the names. Sherri started this project in 2003. What a powerful, historic quilt this will be! I love to see somebody thinking BIG! Great job, Sherri Lynn!
