I'm so glad I agreed to review
Quick and Easy Hexie Quilts by Dr. Peggy Rhodes and Julia C. Wood because otherwise I might have missed this! Instead I'll be making little hexies this summer, especially when I'm traveling.
First of all, the quilts in this book are fresh and new! There is so much inspiration here. One of my favorites is called Seven of Diamonds, shown below. It has fussy cut hexies. I'm liking this! It reminds me of the quilts in "Material Obsession" by Sarah Fielke and Kathy Doughty.
Peggy and Julia's method for making little hexies is so simple! No paper, plastic or basting! I appreciate how the authors show you exactly how to make them on pages 9, 10, and 11. They're fun to make and they look so pretty.
Julia even sent me some pre-cut circles and a threaded needle so there was nothing standing in the way of hexie-making! This pretty little duo took only a few minutes to make. Nice points and body too.
(My next ones won't have that tiny dot in the middle. I got carried away making the knot on the back.)
These hexies are 1 5/8" across (flat side to flat side), each made from a 2 1/2" circle. These little pretties truly are quick and easy. I heartily recommend
Quick and Easy Hexie Quilts published by AQS.

Here are the authors with Alex Anderson at Quilt Market in Portland, Oregon. Left to right: Peggy, Alex, and Julia. Alex invited Peggy and Julia to be on The Quilt Show soon. Cool!
