Fall Centerpiece with DIY Velvet Paper Flowers

September is here! We are starting to think about decorating for fall. One of our favorite fall craft supplies is velvet paper. We have used it for fall leaves, masks, cards and more.

Today we are sharing a floral centerpiece we made using velvet paper. There are many colors to choose from. So, we chose colors that go with our fall decor this time.

We love making paper flowers. But, velvet paper adds a more lush and realistic texture.

To make your own floral centerpiece, you will need velvet paper, floral wire, and a hot glue gun.

You can make your own flower shapes or use some of the many free ones available online. We used this template for the honey colored spiral flowers, this one for the simple little rust colored flowers & large ivory flower, and this one for some of the leaves.

Attach the flowers to floral wires and wrap the wires in strips of velvet paper. Then you can bend the flower stems to arrange the flowers however you want.

We hope this gives you some ideas for decorating and you will try incorporating velvet paper into your decor this fall.

Simple Thanksgiving Decor

Today we put a little spin on our acorn decor kit! We decided to use all the fun embellishments that come in the kit... gems, paper leaves, paper circles and letters... for another project. So, we were left with only the acorn base.

Instead of tossing it, we glued on some artificial fall leaves and raffia. Then, we cut out the word "thankful" on our silhouette and attached it with spray glue. Happy Thanksgiving!

Spring Confetti

Decorating for spring is so fun! We love busting out those cheerful colors.

We wanted to use a chocolate bunny for our centerpiece. But, it looked lonely. So, we added a paper doily and some Easter grass. For more color, we punched flowers out of our velvet paper to use as confetti.

You could even cut strips of velvet paper to make your own grass.

Velvet confetti is so easy to make! We love how it brightens up our centerpiece.

We had a lot of fun making this little home decor piece with our kraft classics paper pad. The yellow area was created with our tie dye. We love how it highlights the quote we cut out using our Silhouette.

The background and flowers were made with the kraft classics pad, which is on sale this week!

Classy Framed Decor Piece DIY

Hi there! We hope you're having a wonderful summer! Today we're popping in to show you a simple framed art piece we made with some scrapbook supplies in our stash.

To make this classy little decor piece, you just need a cute little frame, a background paper, a strip of paper, and a silhouette. We lucked out and found our silhouette on the Mia Bella sticker sheet. But, you could easily cut one out of paper. A bit of dimensional adhesive is what really helps it pop.

Hope this little project inspires you to add a touch of class to your space.

Easy Hoop Art Decor with Tumble Dye

Ready for another hoop art project idea? This one is perfect for a summertime or a girl's room. The best part is you can use this idea with any colors you want by using our Tumble Dye!

To make this decoration, place flower and butterfly shapes on your fabric. We like to cut the shapes out of sticker paper for a crisp edge. Then, spray your fabric with Tumble Dye. After it's dry, heat set with an iron.

After you finish the cool dyed background, you can add some stitching. We used embroidery floss to outline our flowers and butterfly.

Last, add details, like fabric leaves, crocheted flowers, and buttons. Get your hoop art kit here.

DIY Tulip Artwork with Dye & Velvet Paper

The tulips here are almost gone. But, this tulip art will bring springtime into your home all year long.

To create this piece, we printed a simple tulip outline on our white velvet paper. Then, we added color with our dyes.

This is such a fun project and the colors blend so well on the velvet paper. So, we included different hues of green for the leaves. For the petals, we used coral and magenta.

We hope you have enjoyed all our velvet paper project ideas. We loved making them! We have some fun summer projects coming soon.

DIY Holiday House & Trees

It's amazing what you can do with scrapbook paper! We created this cute little holiday house and trees with just paper and scissors. If you're on a budget this year, snag one of our variety packs and see what you can create.

To create the trees, cut square pieces of paper of different sizes and follow these instructions. It looks complicated at first. But, it's really quite simple.

We made the cute little house template ourselves. It's our little Christmas gift to you. Download it free by saving the image provided below. Enjoy!

Craft Dyed Wooden Christmas Trees

As promised, we have more holiday decor projects on the way! Today we have a simple idea that can be colored to match your decor. These also make great neighbor gifts.

First, cut some simple triangles out of scrap wood. Next, apply our tumble dye in whatever colors (or glitter) you'd like. This video shows how. Last, use the end of a pencil or paint brush to add dots of acrylic craft paint for "ornaments". We kept it simple with white dots. But, you can do any color.

They look so cute grouped in varying sizes. More diy holiday decor ideas coming soon!

Gold Holiday Decor Project

Freshen up your holiday decor with a few new handmade items, like these hoop art pieces. These are so simple to make with our dyes and iron-ons. Plus, the hoop art kits are on sale!

We used SEI's hoop art kit, tea tumble dye, gold glitter tumble dye, and a metallic iron-on sheet to create these pretty holiday decorations.

For the "joy" hoop art, we cut the word "joy" out on sticker paper and attached it to the fabric provided in the hoop art kit. Then, we sprayed it with our tea and gold glitter tumble dye. The finishing touch was the snowflake and circles cut out of the metallic iron-on sheet.

For the pinecone hoop art, we made snowflake and pinecone stencils out of paper and layered splashes of tea and gold tumble dye. The final layer on those was pine boughs cut from the metallic sheet.

Origami Wreath Embellishment or Ornament

The holidays can be expensive. But, it's amazing what you can do with a little bit of inexpensive scrapbook paper. For these projects, we used the Cheery Holiday pack, which is on sale for just $10 this week.

Of course we had to make an ornament too. They are so fun to make. Give it a try!

Simple Spring Decor Gift DIY

Hi, there! With spring right around the corner, it's time to refresh your decor. So, we are popping in to share quick and simple decorating idea.

It doesn't take much, just a little flower pot and some leftover scrapbook supplies. We used the Dainty Blossoms chiplets, sundries, and die-cuts for this one. These are from our March card kit.

We just layered chiplets together and attached them to pipe-cleaners to create different heights and hold the flowers in the pot. The cute little heart saying was from the die-cuts.

Aren't simple ideas like this great to refresh decor or give as a gift? Are you starting to decorate for spring yet?

Last-Minute Thanksgiving Decor

Surely it didn't just hit you that Thanksgiving is less than a week away, more than 20 people are eating at your house, and the only fall decor in sight is some rotten pumpkins and an old wreath? Not that we know what that's like... just kidding! We know EXACTLY what's that's like.

It's ok, take a deep breath, throw out the old pumpkins and let's get decorating! We're going to show you a few last-minute Thanksgiving decor ideas that you can do with simple supplies right now. We used our new Bountiful paper collection for these ideas.

IDEA #1: Framed Art

There are so many free printables out there! These are so simple to use and make great seasonal decor. Just print and frame! Done! This one is one of the freebies offered to Club SEI members as part of their subscription.

IDEA #2: Banner

Banners can be simple paper rectangles that spell "thanks" or more elaborate, like this pumpkin one cut from our Club SEI cutting file. Either way, banners are a great way to spice up a fireplace, above the door, across a serving table, or any other blank space you want to fill.

IDEA #3: Wreath

What better way to welcome guests than a fresh, new wreath! This one was made with a chipboard wreath base. But, you could easily cut a piece of cardboard into this shape. We added some burlap, ribbon, die-cuts, sundries, and paper cut using the same cutting file.

IDEA #4: Table Favors

Make each guest feel special with a little table favor. We just used simple paper bags for these ones. Just add some die-cuts, ribbon, and feathers, voila! If you add a name they can also double as place cards.
