Cheerful Everyday Cards

Greetings!

It's Rhonda Van Ginkel here today guest designing for SEI! Today I have a few card creations to share with you that I hope you enjoy. I loved working with the Spring Picnic collection for these.

My first card features a sentiment from the sentiments sheet which is so extremely versatile and perfect for card making or adding a journaling spot to your page. I trimmed the scallop piece at the top from the strip of the page as well. I used the

I used the yellow ric-rac from the Forever Sassy Sundries as well as the sweet little bird and branch are from the Basics Die-Cut Elements. The die cut elements are just adorable!!! the little vellum accents added a nice subtle touch as well.

My next card is a more clean and simple design. I cut the base from the Spring Breeze - Clear Skies paper. The next layer is from Spring Breeze - Grandpa's Handkerchief. I used a circle die and cut through the top of these 2 layers

Next, I lined from behind with the Mother's Perfume paper. My blue circle layer was cut from the "Hoo's Sweet" Sundries packaging, followed by a Basics Die Cut Accents #1 sentiment.

I finished the card with a paper bow and banners that were cut from some dies that I have.

These two creations give me a little bit of spring fever, I hope they do for you as well!

Thank you so much for having me as a guest designer here at SEI, it's been an absolute pleasure!

Good Times Park Scrapbook Layout

Greetings! It's Rhonda Van Ginkel here today to host the blog as a Guest Designer. I was so honored to get the chance to work with some fun products!

I created a page for you today featuring some really beautiful papers from the Neon Vibe collection along with some Paper Doilies and Sundries. The pretty envelope was the perfect anchor to my design, it's been embellished with a bit of modeling paste and sprinkled with a variety of mist colors.

Do you ever take photos of the signs for places you visit? I never used to until I began scrapbooking. Sometimes those images really help give a bit of fun design to your page. That's what I decided to do here.

I adore the sequin ribbon in the Hoo's Sweet Sundries pack and used it as an anchor on the bottom of the envelope. The large paper clip is from the Forever Sassy Sundries pack. The die cut elements are just perfect to finish your page beautifully!

Thank you so much for the opportunity to design for you today. I'll be back tomorrow with a bit more inspiration for you.

Homemade Cards and Gift Tag

Hi again! This is Tifany from Ink Blots by TRD and I am excited to be back again today to share a few more SEI projects with you!
(I hope you stopped in yesterday to check out my mini album.)

Today I've got two cards and a tag to share - again using products from the Club SEI March 2015 Paper Crafting Kit. For each of today's projects I used a 3x3 journaling card (or two) from the perforated sheet along with some solid and patterned papers from the kit.

For my first card, I started by layering a solid and a patterned paper that I had previously cut to 4x6 (I thought I might use them in the mini album that I shared yesterday). I simply added a few leaves from the Kraft Chips package and two 3x3 cards from the perforated sheet (included with the kit) to finish off my card. (Note: White cardstock base not included with the kit.)

For my next card, I went with a simple approach - just a solid paper, a piece of patterned paper, and the "lovely day" 3x3 card from the perforated sheet (all included in the kit). Sometimes you just need a quick card...and this card was certainly quick to assemble. (Note: White cardstock base not included with the kit.)

I had some small scraps left over from the mini album and cards I had created, so I decided to give them new life on a tag. I layered a couple patterned papers to create the background and trimmed a 3x3 card to fit the top of the tag. Then, I used another 3x3 card (which I trimmed to accentuate the flag look) for a sentiment. I threaded the hole with brown grosgrain ribbon (from the sundries package) and then tied a little twine bow through the button to hold it all in place. (Note: Tag base and twine not included with the kit.)

The Club SEI March 2015 Paper Crafting Kit has been so fun to work with and I still have a lot left to create with!

Thank you for joining me again today! Have a wonderful day!

Cheerful Mini Album

Hello there! This is Tifany from Ink Blots by TRD and I am thrilled to be a Guest Designer for SEI!

It was so exciting to open my Club SEI March 2015 Paper Crafting Kit - it was packed with a fun selection of papers and embellishments! It was great to have some project instructions included...but I must admit - I'm not often accused of following directions. ;o)

Today I would like to share with you a mini album I created using products from the Club SEI March 2015 Paper Crafting Kit.
(Please be sure to stop back tomorrow as well - I've got more projects to share!)

I started by choosing a theme and color scheme for my album. I laid out some papers and embellishments that I planned to use with the 4x6 album that was included in the kit.

This 4x6 album is where I will be keeping ultrasound pictures and photos of my pregnancy progress, and I thought the title "Hello My Love" (created with Kraft Chips) was fitting.

The stickers and embellishments included in the Club SEI March 2015 Paper Crafting Kit made it so easy to decorate and fill the pages of this mini album. I used a variety of patterned papers from the kit to fill each photo sleeve and I can easily slide in pictures and add journaling as my pregnancy progresses. With three kids already at home and another on the way, this 4x6 album sure does make memory keeping easy!

Thank you for stopping in today - see you back here again tomorrow!

Planner Entry

Oh my love for planners are endless. I can go on a tangent- but I won't today. I wanted to show you how easy it is to utilize SEIs scrapbook paper. Their Sweet Sora and Forever Sassy is perfect for Valentines Day. Some people use 4-7 dividers but I wanted to only use 4. My inserts are from Cocoa Daisy and it matches really well with the dividers.

When decorating my weeks, the scrapbooker in me comes out. My style stands out more from the others in the planner world because I actually utilize paper crafting items when I decorate. From scrapbook paper to ephemera, to stickers and washi, I use it all and I love layering and utilizing scraps.

So for this daily spread I took some SEI stickers on the right and some of the scraps I had and just utilized it on the left. You don't have to over due your page with tons of decoration a little is definitely enough.

I hope that gives you an idea on how to utilize your SEI paper crafting stash!

Happiness Journal, Guest Post

Seeking happiness, everyone seems to be searching for it at some point in their life, and I'm not any different. When SEI contacted me to be a guest blogger I had no idea that the box would contain an outlet for me to document a huge part of life- The Search for Happiness.

I'm in my late twenties and like many women who are my age, you're either already married with kids, engaged, in a relationship wondering if you're going to get married, single and mingling, single mom, graduate school, going back to school, travel gypsy, soul searching, wanting to restart, workaholic or the single cat/ dog lady haha! All jokes aside life does throw punches at you, and documenting your feelings is a great outlet, and you might as well do it in style right?

Being in my late twenties I have this list. Don't we all. To accomplish those things by the big 3-0. Regardless if I actually finish them, I want to document this year and SEI has amazing products to help you do that. Their Catalina line is totally my style. Cmon who really doesn't like mint, pink, and gold?

I am a big journal person and love writing down my thoughts, aspirations, lists, and of course quotes. I'm planning on utilizing this throughout my year and wanted to share with you some of my pages that are in it.

Holiday Decor: Wreath & Snow Jars

The next project is the fabulous wreath~

I constructed the wreath, using the instructions on the package. I added a photo and Pine Cones to complete the festive look!! Loved the results!!!!

My last project is Snow Jars. I used the adorable deer, some of the Christmas stickers and some jars I had in the pantry. Easy project and so cute!!!!

I constructed the scene, in the lid, and then screwed the lid in place. Add the glitter before attaching the lid to the jar. Hot glue worked great for this. Add trim or twine for a festive look!!!

This one has a tree sticker (double sided) in it, from the stickers in the kit.

Thank you, s.e.i., for having me this month!! The kit is awesome and so fun to work with!!!

Holiday Decor: Shadow Box & Tag Garland

Hi, Connie here and I'm thrilled to be a guest designer, on the s.e.i. blog, for December. I have some projects using the November Paper Crafting Kit by s.e.i. Such a fun kit and plum full of goodies!!!

This was designed to be a free standing Christmas Decoration or you can use it as a Christmas Ornament. Using the box that the tags came in, I attached a photo to two of the box inserts and then decorated with the trim in the kit.

I loved putting this together. I used the tags from the Tag Kit and added the stickers, rhinestones and speckled the tags with acrylic paint. Tied them to twine and added strips of material, for a rag/tag garland.

Thanksgiving Tags by Tyra

We are thrilled to have Tyra Babington from last year's design team back as our guest. She will be sharing great projects today and tomorrow. Then we have special surprise on Thursday.

Hello! It's Tyra and I'm back as a guest today sharing a few tags I made with the beautiful Autumn's Smile Collection.

This collection has everything you need to make a few Thanksgiving themed tags just in time for the holiday! I created a little collage of what I made simply by using papers from the collection as well as the die cut accents mixed media pack. The gorgeous Athenaeum Collection and the World Market Collection would work just as well!

The holiday is fast approaching, so I wanted to keep this post short and simple! By the way, I created one more tag, just visit JustTyra on Thanksgiving Day to see it. Thanks so much for stopping by the blog and have a wonderful day!

Velvet Paper Flower Tutorial + GIVEAWAY!!

When I saw the soft, yet strong velvet paper from SEI, I knew exactly what I wanted to make with it-- colorful Spring flowers. They are the perfect tabletop decoration for Mother's Day, bridal showers, girls' birthday parties, Teacher Appreciation Day... basically any event that goes with flowers.

To create the form, I decided to use plastic eggs leftover from Easter. I've used plastic eggs before (for these fabric pinecones), and they easy to work with and economical.

Flowers from Plastic Eggs

materials needed:
SEI velvet paper - one 12x12 sheet should make 2 flowers
green duck canvas or green velvet paper for flower base
small 2.5-inch plastic eggs
hot glue gun and glue sticks
scissors
1-inch circle cutter
ruler

instructions:

First, cover the bottom (rounded part) of the plastic egg. Cut out a 2-inch square from the velvet paper and, using a hot glue gun, attach it to the center.

Make 4 cuts and glue down the paper so that the base of the egg is covered. This will become the center of your flower.

Now it's time to make the detailed center of the flower. Using a 1-inch circle cutter, cut out 10 circles and then cut them in half into semi-circles.

Using a hot glue gun, apply a dab of glue to the corners of the semi-circle. Starting just off center, attach the semi-circle to the egg form. The semi-circle should have a little lift, so glue it down with a small arch. Then move onto the next semi-circle, overlapping and making a small square or pentagon in the center before moving down to the next layer. Stagger each piece so it has a "realistic" look. Do this for all 20 semi-circles. This should cover about 1/3 of the egg.

Now it's time to make the petals for the flower. I made my own templates for the petals. There is no set rules for this, but keep the base of the petal at 1-inch or less. Anything larger is harder to attach to the egg.

Using your template, cut out your petals from the velvet paper. I used around 10-12 petals per flower.

Use the end of a pencil to add a little curl to the petals.

Using a hot glue gun, apply a little glue to the base of the petal and attach it just beneath the center detail. Stagger the petals for a more realistic look.

The final step is to cover the base of the flower. Cut out a 3-inch square from the green canvas. Similar to step one of covering the base of the egg, glue down the center, make four cuts and wrap & glue down the base.

The flowers can be displayed in small cups (these are sake cups from World Market) or, if you want them to stand on their own, you can make "feet" using your hot glue gun. The details for the "hot glue feet" are here.

You can also attach a stem. The details are here (steps 10-11).

Soft and pretty flowers for Spring!
