You Rock, Baby! Iron-On Guitar Baby Onesie

Oh, baby what a cute design! I think this is adorable and perfect for a newborn baby with rocker aspirations, rocker parents or anyone who likes a cute and unique baby onesie. You can make it for your own sweet baby or to give as a gift. Best of all, it only takes a few minutes. Really!

I’m using SEI’s guitar iron-on art. It takes all the guess work out of doing iron-ons! It’s super simple to do!

See that? That’s the part of the design that will be face down on the material. I just have it facing up to show you how cute it is. You don’t have to cut yours out like I did but because the onesie is so small, I couldn’t figure out where the guitar was being placed, so I trimmed the paper down to just outside the guitar design.

I flipped the guitar over so that the white paper was face up. Follow the iron setting directions and iron the guitar on for about 15 seconds.

Let your design cool for a minute and then simply peel away the paper part. Look at the detail on that guitar!! Fantastic!

The iron-on is a soft flocked surface that can be washed, which is especially important when we’re talking babies. Right? So right.

That’s it! Now the baby looks like he or she is playing a guitar. Sweet!

Have a rockin' day!

Baby Banner Nursery Decor

I like mixing patterned paper collections, so I went through my stash of SEI goodness and pulled out two collections that are perfect for my project today, nursery decor for a new baby! Whether you want to add a fun touch your little one's nursery or a friends, this vintage chic baby banner is the perfect project!

I combined Mia Bella paper and embellishments with paper and embellishments from an older collection, Promise Me.

I die cut banner and pennant pieces with my Silhouette machine, and dolled them up with starburst punched patterned paper, ribbon and twine and glittered letter stickers. Attach the banner to a vintage hanger, and you've got the cutest little gift to give to an expecting mom!

Jellybean Heart Onesie

Hi! Pearl here to share a super simple and cute onesie with the awesome iron-on sheet in pink polka dot. With so many babies on their way this year, I am in need of cute personalized gifts. SEI iron-on sheets are perfect for the job!

I used a jellybean-shaped heart dies to make 3 sizes of the jellybeans. I then decorated the front of the shirt with two of the smaller hearts.

To add some extra cuteness and continuity to the back, I added a larger heart for the tush area.

I'm completely obsessed with these iron-on sheets.

"Baby Love" Garland Project

Hi there! Pearl here to share a fun garland project that doubles as a congratulatory card for an expecting family. I've got baby on the mind with so many new babies expected this year.

To create the garland, I used letter stencils and hand cut the letters traced from the stencil. Sometimes, I like cutting the good old fashioned way. :) I ran the letters through the sewing machine to create the garland. It's an awesome interactive card that also serves as wall decor for any expecting family. All you need to do is package it in an vellum envelope or flat glassine bag so that there's a nice semi-transparent view into the pretty colors held inside. To finish off the packaging, I added a banner sticker and glitter alphabet sticker to personalize it.

Here's a closer look at the "O", made to look like a baby carriage.

To create the carriage shape, cut out an oval shape from Mia Bella pattern paper. Cut a pie shape from the oval so that it looks almost like a Pac-man silhouette. Then punch 2 circles from heart pattern paper from Think of Me. Using the same Think of Me pattern paper, cut a thin strip as the bassinet ruffle. Scallop the bottom of the strip with scallop scissors. To add a little extra texture and sparkle, add glitter to the little heart pattern.

Thanks for stopping by!

Make It Yourself Stationary Kit

A girl can never have too much stationery. From note cards, to pretty envelopes and unique accoutrements, I have always loved pretty paper. Maybe that's why I like crafting with it so much!

Today's project is a MIY--Make it Yourself idea! I created a cute mini stationery kit from SEI's Think of Me collection that is part of CLUB SEI's card making kit---yes, they have a monthly card making kit, scrapbooking kit and paper-crafting kit. Each kit is full of papers and embellishments, which are different from the main lines! How cool is that!?

For a MIY mini card making kit, I have a few tips. First, make sure that you measure the cards you put in the kit, so they'll fit in the mini envelopes. Secondly, keep all your components to scale--make sure that all the little goodies will fit on their little cards.

There are so many goodies that you can put in your kit, I'll share what I put in mine. Because of the theme at this month's blog, stationery items like stamps, envelopes and a postcard take center stage!

|Envelopes| There are two large envelopes and two small envelopes included in the kit. I die cut them from patterned paper found in CLUB SEI's card making kit. I picked patterned paper that was suitable for multiple occasions.

|Stationery| Because there are two sizes of envelopes, I made two sizes of stationery. For the the larger envelopes, I trimmed two flat panel cards from cardstock. One panel is plain, and for the other, I stamped a postcard from Lawn Fawn's You've Got Mail set on it. Then I trimmed the postcard so it would in the large envelopes. The two smaller envelopes fit tags from Field Notes collection. Of course you could also use the tags separately, like attaching them to a gift bag.

|Ribbon| I included two ribbon trims from CLUB SEI's card making kit. The green gingham and stitched pinked ribbon are suitable for any occasion, and are a suitable width for the smaller scale kit. I wrapped them around a tag, and secured them to the tag with double-stick tape.

|Washi Tape| What kit would be complete without washi? You could use it as a border, or to adhere paper to paper, or even to secure a miniature envelope. Washi is the go-to embellishment for quick, easy and simple crafting. I trimmed two lengths of blue and green washi tape and wrapped them around a tiny tag (the same one I used for the stationery).

|Embellishments| Inside a cute vellum envelope you'll find butterflies, heart and starburst circles that will liven up any card or tag. I punched them from the 8.5" x 11" paper pad that comes with CLUB SEI's card making kit.

|Puffy Stickers| These are brand new and included in CLUB SEI's card making kit. They're teeny tiny, so they work perfect in your miniature card making kit. A little puff is so much fun to play with because it will add dimension to the cards and tags, but still fit in the envelopes. All I did was trim some from the sticker sheet, and add them to the kit.

|Sentiment Flags| It's not as much fun if you have to write a sentiment on these adorable cards, so I stamped some general sentiments on cardstock using the Mat Stack 2 set from Papertrey Ink. After I stamped the sentiments trimmed the flags to create notched ends, and used pinking sheers for the cute deckled edge.

|Patterned Paper strips| I love little strips of patterned paper color! So, I trimmed some patterned paper, and then created a decorative edge with a border punch. You could use the patterned paper strips to doll up the card or tag, or add some pizazz to the envelope.

|Custom Die Cuts| These were so fun to make, and would look so cute on the envelopes! I die cut postage stamps from patterned paper, and all the pieces can be mixed up together to make the individual die cuts pop!

Sleeping Baby Door Hanger Decor

Hey there!! Lately, I have been feeling the "I want a baby!" What's funny is that I had no compelling desire before I was thirty, but once I hit the 30 year mark, it's like everywhere I go I see babies, want to play with them, imagine myself holding one, look at cute clothing, decor and accessories, and basically drive the husband nuts. My DH and I's plan to wait until July 2013 to start trying seems forever and ever away from now. But, until then I can use the time to make fun decor for a future little twig using SEI's beautiful paper. Today's project used paper and embellishments from the Vanilla Sunshine collection.

Obviously, I'm not preggos.....yet! So, the problem seems to be "what do I use for an obviously gender-neutral baby?" Yellows and greens have been done-to-death! So, why not branch out and try a color triad---like the pinks, turquoise and yellows found in the Vanilla Sunshine collection. "Pink, for a boy?" you say? "YES!" I say! Pick some bold pink and turquoise for a POP of color, but mix in a little gender neutral patterned paper with the pinks and flowers, like the gender-neutral patterned papers found in the Vanilla Sunshine 8.5" x 11" Card Maker's Paper Pad and you're good to go.

After I painted a chipboard panel, I trimmed and adhere a long block of Sidewalk Chalk to the panel. I then drew an elephant template on a piece of scrap cardstock, trimmed it, traced it onto the backside of Strawberry Whimsy and cut out the elephant. I then added an ear to the elephant with patterned paper from the Vanilla Sunshine 8.5" x 11" Card Maker's Paper pad. Punch some paper from the same paper pad into clouds and hearts and then adhere the elephant, clouds and hearts to the panel. Add a cute ground line with Vanilla Sunshine Borders, and spell "Baby" with Vanilla Sunshine's Glitter Alphabet stickers. Tie some fun ribbon to the top, and hang it from the doorknob in your nursery.

Hang this on the outside of the nursery door to remind other's in the house to be quiet if baby's napping!

Frame Decor Baby Gift with Card

Emily created this baby gift for a friend that is having a girl. The Promise Me collection is great for baby girls! She used things she already had to make a personalized gift that didn't break the bank.

Here are her tips:
• To mix more patterned papers together without making the card too busy, punch starburst circles and tuck little patterned paper circles inside.
• Don't be afraid to use household items in your paper-crafting, this frame is perfect, and something I had just lying around.
• The word "baby" is creative. I was short one "b" so, I flipped a "d" to make a "b" and covered it with patterned paper so that it worked!
• Tie the two pieces in the set together by using the same patterned paper that's in the card in the Baby nursery decor!

Baby Shower Tea Party: Invite & Favors

Of course the Promise Me collection is beautiful for Valentine's projects. But, it's also perfect for baby girls! Emily really shows how to party like a princess with her baby shower invitation and two party favors. Here are her tips...

"Die cut teacups from patterned paper as tags to add to the invitation and favors; it'll tie the two together creating some cohesion and unity.
Use accents that repeat like the resin roses, pearl trim, trinket pins and butterflies."

"Be inspired by what you have around the house--I had extra yummy tea and chocolates; the perfect favor for a Baby tea party.
Sometimes less is more---lots of variety in patterns but done in moderation like banners die cut shapes make the elements POP!"

Oh the Drama

Audrey used the Silver Valley collection for this layout. Surprised? She explains, "The reds and browns and blues are perfect for boy pages! And these colors also go well with kraft." So, there you have it. Silver Valley isn't just for winter.

"I stamped a whole lot of phrases onto kraft paper and added them to the perforated squares that come in this collection." What a fun and creative way to incorporate your journaling throughout the layout.

Those expressions are priceless! Thank you for sharing this layout and a year full of wonderful projects, Audrey. We send our best wishes and will make sure to keep in touch with you through your blog Audrey's Reflection.

baby blocks

As you might have learned in our introductions last year, Maria really likes babies. To our surprise she announced to us earlier this year that she was having a baby! As soon as we knew, we decided that we wanted to make her something really special. When she found out that she was having a baby boy we knew we wanted to use chick-a-doo.

Chick-a-doo has these great monograms and how cute would they be as blocks? Pia had a an electric saw at home and cut 3.5" x 3.5" squares from wood. There were 4 of us in the art room so we scrambled up the alphabet and each took home 6 or 7 wooden blocks. We decorated them individually with paint, patterned paper, velvet paper and of course the monogram alphabet. Maria was so surprised when we gave them to her and we all loved looking at how each person executed their individual design on the blocks. It's really a simple project (max. time= 2 hours/person) and a fun way to give a group gift to a special friend.

Maria's older boy hasn't stopped playing with the blocks. He's warming them up for his baby brother. Since they're a larger size block, they're really fun to build with. Hope you like this gift idea as much as we did!
