Fun Tie Dye Shirt + GIVEAWAY

Happy Friday! It is Trish and Bonnie from Uncommon Designs again and we just can't thank SEI enough for allowing us to share some fun crafts with you this week!

Today, I want to show you how I took an ordinary white thermal underwear top and really jazzed it up with SEI's tumble dye tie dye kit. We chose the girly girl color scheme... how fitting! After all, every fashionable girl must have ultra-cool PJ's! Here is how I did it...

Supplies:
Shirt
Tumble Dye Tie Dye Kit
Stencil
Folder or Cardboard to go between shirt layers
Trash bag or plastic tablecloth

I cut a heart and an L out of some vinyl with my electronic cutter. You can do this method, use freezer paper, another type of stencil, or skip the heart step all together! With two little girls, it works for me to use a monogram to tell which shirt belongs to which rascal. I also placed a file folder inside the shirt to prevent bleeding.

Now for the fun part! If you have worked with tie dye before, it can be so messy and time consuming. Not with this kit! All I had to do was open the bottle, spray on the different colors, and let it air dry. Next, I lifted off the stencil and "scrunch" dyed the rest of the shirt. Here was the video I used for the "how to".

I was so glad that there was a video to go by and it was so easy to follow!

I just love how it turned out!

Slumber parties are such a huge deal in our home, so we had a ball with all of the goodies! Thanks again to SEI for having us!

We'd love for you to stop by and see us at Uncommon Designs! You can also find us on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and Google Plus. Take care!

Paper Treat Cone Tutorial + Giveaway

Hey y'all! We are Trish and Bonnie from Uncommon Designs and we are so enjoying sharing with you guys on the SEI blog this week!

We have been sharing with you some simple ideas for a slumber party or any time. One of our favorite activities to get the kiddos to settle down a bit is to watch a movie. If you are going to watch a good movie, you must have popcorn!

Today, we are going to show you how to make a simple treat cone for popcorn or any other fun treat!

Paper Treat Cone Tutorial

Supplies:
2 patterns of coordinating scrapbook paper
Template for Cone
Scissors
Glue or Tape

The first thing you will do is to trace the template onto the back of the piece of scrapbook paper. I used paper from SEI's Holiday Cheer paper pack. The template was downloaded from the Hostess with the Mostess Site. Next, simply cut out the templates.

Now you will flip over the patterned paper to the back and run glue down one of the edges.

The next step is to roll the paper into a cone form and press the outer edge where the glue is on top of the unglued edge to seal.

Now is the fun part! Trim! I used a piece of coordinating paper and cut it into about a 1 1/2 inch strip by about 11 inches. I then cut small slits across the top and bottom of the strip.

Glue all around the top edge of the cone.

Now all you need to do is press the middle that is uncut on the top edge of the cone and press to adhere. Trim away the excess and you are done! Fill with lots and lots of popcorn and you are sure to have some happy slumber party guests!

Thanks again for having us! Stop by Uncommon Designs sometime! We'd love to have you!

Color Your Own T-Shirt Activity

We are so excited to be back again today to show you some of our slumber party fun!

You may remember the cute owl t-shirt from our goodie bag? Well, today we are going to share with you how you can make your own!

We used a t-shirt from the dollar store, SEI's adorable fuzzy Color My Own owl iron-on art, and their fabric markers. Let's get started...

First, you will iron-on the transfer according to the package directions. Allow it to cool and remove the transfer paper. You are going to love how nice and fuzzy the artwork is. This is by far one of the highest quality iron-ons I have ever worked with... just so nice.

Now, you can let your kiddos use the fabric markers to color in their owl! The girls had such a great time doing this. I loved that it was such a nice activity for them to do and so inexpensive, too! You certainly can't beat having something this high of quality as a sleepover craft project. My youngest wants to wear hers ALL the time!

Join us again tomorrow where we will show you how to serve popcorn in style!

Slumber Party Eye Mask + Giveaway

Hey y'all it's Trish from Uncommon Designs again and I can't wait to share the first of some really sweet projects that we have been working on with SEI products!

Are you like me and want to have some really easy, but fun things to do when your kiddos have someone sleep over?

Recently, my girls had a very small sleepover and I decided to fill up a dollar store tote with some "night owl" themed goodies.

Today, I am going to share with you how I made the adorable night owl eye mask!

While I was at the dollar store, I also picked up these plain hot pink terry eye masks. What girl doesn't need a cute eye mask for a sleepover, right?! It was the perfect size to add SEI's Night Owl Pajama Iron-On. { I even used the packaging to make the bag tags! }

All you have to do is lay the iron-on face down on top of the eye mask and iron it on according to the directions on the packaging. Once you have let it cool, simply pull the paper backing off and you are all done!

The girls loved them and it was so much fun to see them putting them on before they went to bed! Such a quick project for such happy little ones! I will be back tomorrow to share more details about our fun Night Owl sleepover!
