Oh the Drama

Audrey used the Silver Valley collection for this layout. Surprised? She explains, "The reds and browns and blues are perfect for boy pages! And these colors also go well with kraft." So, there you have it. Silver Valley isn't just for winter.

"I stamped a whole lot of phrases onto kraft paper and added them to the perforated squares that come in this collection." What a fun and creative way to incorporate your journaling throughout the layout.

Those expressions are priceless! Thank you for sharing this layout and a year full of wonderful projects, Audrey. We send our best wishes and will make sure to keep in touch with you through your blog Audrey's Reflection.

Hay There Cutie! + Winner

Audrey never fails to impress! Today she has a stunning autumn layout to share. It's always fun to hear the designer explain their own project so we'll leave the rest up to her...

"This Homestead line is truly one of my favorites. The colors are just so different, yet so beautiful together. When I saw this purple plaid printed paper, it reminded me of this jacket that my daughter had, so the photo and papers went great together!"

"I stamped the background a bit with a textured stamp and stitched around the outside. For the muslin and burlap, I first treated these fabrics with a liquid fabric stiffner, then let them dry. They are very easy to cut when they are dry."

"I used some dies and my Big Shot for the journaling area and the scalloped piece on top. For the flower, I just twisted a piece of muslin and glued it, then misted it with spray inks to match."

Thank you, Audrey!

...And the winner of the giveaway from Friday is...

Autumn Wreath

We thought we'd switch it up a bit today with a fall wreath created by Audrey. The die-cuts from the Homestead collection work perfectly for autumn decorations. For example sew them on a string to make a garland, sprinkle them on a table to accent your centerpiece, or make a wreath, like Audrey! She explains how to do it...

"I inked the embossed surfaces and edges of the leaves from the Die Cut pack and then crumpled them a bit to give them some dimension."

"Then I hot glued them to a grape vine wreath and hang the wreath with a piece of burlap. Simple and beautiful!"

Don't forget to decorate for fall!

Crunching Crinkling Leaves

Ever see an amazing layout, like this one, and wonder what inspired it? We do. Audrey shows us how picking up on a current trend can inspire something wonderful. In her own words...

"'Crunching Crinkling' the phrase/quote ftom the quotes patterned paper of the Homestead line just spoke perfectly for what we were experiencing in our photos that I just decided to use that as my title!"

"Hexagons seem to be one of the 'hot' shapes right now. I cut these on my Cricut, and then handstitched around each shape (yes, it took me forever)."

"I kept the rest of the background simple by misting a bit and stamping with a woodgrain stamp. This is one of my favorite layouts so far this year!"

Iron-on Robots

We have been so excited to share this project from Audrey with you. It uses one of our favorite new products... color my own iron-ons and looks so adorable on her new little model.

Would you like to make your own? First, you will need a onesie, your favorite color my own iron-on, and fabric markers. Audrey didn't have any fabric markers so she used fabric paint instead.

Next iron the iron-on onto the onesie as directed. If you haven't used iron-ons before, don't worry. They're really quite fast and simple.

Now whip out those fabric markers (or paint like Audrey). Be creative and make it your own!

Audrey, thanks for sharing another fun project and that sweet photo of little Kyler!

Panther Pride

Audrey is here with a football layout... just in time to show us how to scrapbook all of those exciting games.

She carefully choose her color scheme to fit the occasion... plenty of green to mimic the field, black & white, and pops of yellow for her team. Mostly she used the I'm An Athlete collection but snuck in a bit of Holiday Cheer, believe it or not.

We are so happy to see her customize the scoreboard that comes on the perforated sheet! It has all eights to begin with so she filled in her own score.

Audrey used the other embellishments to fit her pages too. For example, she used the "x", "o", and arrows to make her own "plays".

Ice Cream Truck

There is so much we can learn from this sweet layout by Audrey! She mixed several paper collections but did it very subtly. So, it may be a little tricky to spot the different collections.

Another thing we can learn is how to look at a piece of paper in a new way. You may see this sweet treat paper and think.. that would be great for photos of eating treats at the fair. But, Audrey recognized how perfect it is for ICE CREAM! Try thinking of how a paper will work with your photos.

Audrey also shows us how to create your own embellishment. She made an ice cream cone by cutting the shapes she needed out of patterned paper. She finished her custom-made embellishment with glitter and a cherry (button) on top.

Audrey explains more, "I used papers from 'A Fair Day' and 'With All My Heart' (the title and journaling areas), and Moonrise (ice cream cone). I made the large ice cream cone by hand cutting some papers from the collection, following the shape of some of the small cones on the patterned papers. I also wanted to highlight the title area and journaling area a bit more, so I machine stitched the outside of the circles with a teal colored thread that matched the papers!"

Thanks, Audrey! Don't forget to stop by Audrey's blog and share the excitement of the good news she shared last month. There are some precious photos that go with the announcement too!

Birthday Parties

Who would have guessed the A Fair Day collection would work so well for birthday parties? Audrey shows us how it's done on her My Wish for You layout.

She did a wonderful job of using the A Fair Day elements in unexpected ways. Notice how she cut the scalloped paper and layered it?

Instead of writing her journaling on the tag with lines, she put her title there. It's ok to ignore those lines, really. See?

Audrey also cut some of the balloons off their strings and used real string to tie them together in a bouquet. Perfect for a birthday!

We made a little banner out of the popcorn holders that come with the A Fair Day club kit. Just a few snips with scissors and voila! It would work great for a birthday party or any celebration. We love using things in unexpected ways!

A Day at the Park

Wow! We have been so busy getting ready for CHA and preparing for a special blog week. It has been a while since we posted anything new. Lucky for us we have an wonderful design team that keeps designing awesome projects!

Today we would like to share a project designed by Audrey. She took the themed A Fair Day collection and used it for a day at the park layout. The colors are so yummy and the combination of elements from different collections is supreme. We love the handmade touches like the painted background and doodling.

Here's what Audrey said about this beauty. "I took some of the elements from the paper with the 'fair' phrases on them and used them for a page about the park. I painted a white square on the background, and then doodled a black frame around it with a thin pen. On some of the phrases, I also outlined the letters with a pen to make them stick out more. I used a few die cuts from 'A Sunny Day' and 'Corinne'.

We hope this layout will get you excited for next week. We have a special A Fair Day week planned with loads of ideas for summer projects.

Yeager Time

Audrey mixed several collections for this layout. Not only that, she mixed photos from several different days. She was able to tie all the photos and collections together with a lovely color palette. It helps that colors she chose come from colors already in the photos.

Audrey loves to have elements sticking off the top of her scrapbook pages. They stick out just enough so that when she puts them in her album, the album protects them. What a great idea!

This layout works great for any occasion. Wouldn't it be perfect for 4th of July too? With the red, white, blue, and stars. It just goes to show that you don't have to have a paper collection specially designed for Independence day to create a themed layout.

Final Four Layout

Audrey did some really ingenious things with the I'm an Athlete collection. She cut pieces of the basketball court out of the court paper rather than use the entire sheet. She kept the layout calm by using the gray on the back of the diamond paper.

In this detail you can see how she cut basketballs out of the rebound paper. This is a great way to increase the number of "embellishments" you have to work with. In the top left corner of this image you get a little closer view of that awesome title she created with a pen. The pen creates a really nice texture that compliments the collection.

This detail shows another one of those basketball "embellishments". We like how she crinkled the tickets a little to add depth and interest. Those little strips are cut out of the endzone paper.

This is what Audrey said about her layout. "Since we don't have any sports players in our family, yet, I was lucky that my father in law got tickets to the NCAA Final 4 games so that I could use these papers! For the title, I just traced some chipboard letters that I had and colored them in with black pen."
