Little House on the Prairie Remake

 Hello Everyone,

So much has been happening since the retreat that my posting schedule has basically gone on vacation without me. Then, out of nowhere, I get an email from Marcus Fabrics saying that one of my Gentry’s Mill fabrics has been chosen by the costume designers for the Little House on the Prairie remake on Netflix… and I’m pretty sure I had to read it three times just to make sure I hadn’t accidentally opened someone else’s email.

This is the fabric of mine that was selected.

Here is the fabric in Mary's dress.

I'm in good company as Pam Buda, Carrie Quinn and Katie Solberg also had fabrics selected for the show. Pam Buda provided technical advice for the prairie lifestyle.

If someone had told me 65 years ago, back when I was practically inhaling every word of the Little House books like they were oxygen, that someday one of my fabric designs would make it onto the show, I would have politely nodded… and then immediately checked if they’d been out in the prairie sun too long.

On another note:
Yesterday, I placed all of my Timeless Stitches fabric for sale in my Etsy shop HERE.  I'll also be placing more bolts of older lines in my shop throughout the week.

Soon,
Lynn

Cabin Happenings

 Hello Everyone,

It's been a flurry of activity at the cabin.  'Timeless' is almost a finish!

'Timeless' came back beautifully quilted by my machine quilter, Dianne.  Her quilting is incredible and I LOVE how she quilted every single element of it.

I had to get the binding done quickly since I have to send the quilt to Marcus Fabrics so they can pack it in their shipping containers and send off to the H & H show in May where Timeless will be proudly on display in their booth.

I had a little mini photo shoot in the cabin yesterday.  Normally this little crib is filled with finished quilts.  The bolts of Timeless Stitches by Marcus Fabrics look so pretty and Spring-like, I just may leave them there until I start cutting kits next week.

I'm also getting ready for my first Sew'n Wild Oaks retreat at the end of the month.  One of the classes I'm going to teach is a wool project.  I absolutely LOVE working with wool.

The kits are cut, now I just have to finish the pattern.

Our sweet, sweet Mazey celebrated her 12th birthday on Saturday.  She was all dressed up in her Easter bow.  She had just come home from the groomers after her spa day.  She's our little doll.

Gotta scoot and get a lot more accomplished today. I'm finishing up the hanging sleeve and label.

Would you believe there is snow in our forecast later on this week?  The old saying up here is that winter is not over until there's snow on the dogwoods......our dogwoods are blossoming so why not decorate the blossoms with snow!

Lynn

What's happening at Wilder's Last Resort

 Hello Everyone,

I'm happy to announce that my friend Melissa, from Honeybee Fabrics is going to offer my Timeless quilt as a BOM and as a kit! You can register for her program HERE.

The program will start in May, and she is also setting up a Timeless Facebook page which I will be monitoring along with Melissa to answer any of your questions and post tutorials.  Melissa runs a good, affordable program and I encourage you to sign up with her.  While on her site, check out her other BOM programs.

The first month's tutorial is the center medallion of the quilt beginning with a square in a square.  If you had issues in the past making them, the tutorial will help you iron out any of your past issues and you will enjoy the process. I have LOVED working with my new fabric line, Timeless Stitches by Marcus Fabrics.

The entire line is so much like Spring exploding in my sewing room!

The tutorial also covers making the double flying geese. And there are lots of the little ones!

At night, because I just can't be idle, I'm working on a project that doesn't have a name or an end result, I'm just having fun with the process.

My first retreat of the year begins the last week of April, and I've been deciding what to teach.  I love working with wool, and I've always wanted to recreate the top section of my Harvest of Hope quilt into a wool table runner.  I brought the image into my computer and added scallops to the border.

Here is a picture of the entire quilt, which would look fabulous in wool, but I'm just going to concentrate on the top portion.  It's never too early to start working on projects for Fall!

I've also submitted everything to Marcus Fabrics for a new Christmas fabric line which was approved immediately by management.  The line will be unveiled this Fall with a shipping date of next year, just in time to start a new Christmas BOM for Marcus Fabrics.  My poor little pea brain has been drowning in ideas swimming around in it day and night.  Let me just say there is a fantastic plaid or two in the line.

On a personal note, Mr. Joe is still having health issues.  He's had a lot of doctors' appointments as they are trying to understand what's wrong and how to help him.  Keeping him well-nourished and trying to keep his spirits up has become a full-time occupation. You know what they say about old age is not for the faint of heart.

Lynn

Timeless Stitches Has Arrived

 Hello Everyone,

My sample yardage of Timeless Stitches arrived on Thursday from Marcus Fabrics, and I dug right into it by cutting, starching and quilting.

I have only a limited amount of fabric, so I cut just what I needed for the center of the medallion quilt. I was eager to get started and didn’t want to starch the entire yardage. I have an antique wall‑mounted dryer in the guest bathroom that works perfectly for hanging the starched fabric over the bathtub. With the ceiling heat lamp on, they dry fairly quickly.

While I've been waiting for the fabrics to arrive, I've not been 'bone idle' as my British friend says.  I've been refining the pattern, working on taxes, and working on the four retreats I have planned for the year.  There's is never an idle moment under this roof!

I'm loving how the fabrics are 'playing well' together.  It is also so much fun to work with something new and challenging.

This much fun should be illegal!

As I'm working with the fabrics, I've been making minor changes to the original design of the fabric placement and how I turn the components.

Here's the original center block. I changed some of the piecing directions to make it easier to make the block. I also made a block layout sheet for this block.  Those of you familiar with my patterns know the sheet is invaluable for laying the components of the block.  The sheet is particularly helpful for this 24" block.

Here's the new center block.  There may be more changes as I work my way through the block.  I'm always cutting extra fabric to make the components in different fabrics and then decide which looks best.....or what I like the best.  That's a nice thing about the pattern which acts as a guide, but you can always make changes and make it your own.

I hope to get the center block done over the weekend, so I can move on to the first border around it.

I'll be blogging my progress as I work my way through this pattern.  My feet are held to the fire as this one has to be completely finished and mailed to Marcus Fabrics in New York so they can have it on display at the H & H show the first part of May.  Then it will go to Hobby House in Victor, NY where I will be teaching this pattern.

I'm really anxious to jump ahead and make a few of the baskets.  I LOVE BASKETS, and they are particularly cute!

I've been contacted by some of you saying that the blog is really slow to load.  Just give it time and it will load.  Try clearing out your cache on your computer, which may speed up the process.

Lynn

Hobby House Quilt Works

 Hello Everyone,

I'm thrilled to share that this California gal will be heading East next May to Victor, NY where I’ll be teaching at Hobby House Quilt Works!

I'll be teaching my new Timeless design.

This is an image of the fabric called Timeless Stitches for Marcus Fabrics.  I'm anxiously awaiting my sample yardage so I can start creating!  My poor brain is going a thousand miles an hour thinking about additional designs using this fabric. The design are popping in my head faster than I can sketch them!

You can learn more about this weekend workshop HERE.  Just think, we can spend the entire weekend together beginning Friday night for the meet and greet trunk show.  Then we hit the ground running Saturday morning when the 2-day class begins making this beautiful medallion quilt which measures 90" x 90".

You will learn so much while making the quilt as I teach the math behind the components.  I'm sorry, I don't call it math anymore, I call it Finessing the Figures which sounds less intimidating and more approachable. I'll demonstrate my methods of easy construction of the quilting components.

Head on over to Hobby House Quilt Works and check out the retreat center, their shop, and if you love wool and cross stitch you will be in heaven!

Soon,
Lynn

Timeless Stitches

 Hello Everyone,

Just when it looks like I’ve been sneaking off and playing hookie, surprise! I’ve been busy behind the scenes. Now I get to unveil my newest quilt called Timeless which I'll make with my new line called Timeless Stitches, fresh from her debut at Quilt Market in Houston.

Fingers crossed my sample fabric should be arriving within the next six weeks, and then I can dive into creating Timeless. The full line is shown below, and it’s everything I hoped for: fresh yet vintage, with a beautiful balance of lights and darks. I’ve got BIG plans for this collection, especially since I won’t be juggling the demands of a block-of-the-month. Time to let the creativity flow.

I love working with the talented graphic artist and staff at Marcus Fabrics.  There have been many ZOOM calls and iterations discussing each numbered SKU until we got it just right.  Numbers 4, 6 and 9 are recolored from my Gentry's Mill line. The graphic artist reworked #6 to make the dots smaller and closer together.

This stripe fabric had humble beginnings when I discovered it tucked away in the archives of the Smithsonian. When I first shared it with the team at Marcus Fabrics, they were understandably skeptical about including it in the line. But they trusted me, stood by my vision, and the graphic artist brought it to life.

And here is the end result, which is so sweet, gentle and different.

I'm showing a close-up of this SKU so you can see the look of 'netting' around the flowers adding texture.

Here are two of my favorites.  We should have named them 'pearl clutching'!

I’ll be offering kits for this 90" x 90" quilt, and while they won’t ship until the first quarter of 2026.....it’ll be here before we know it! To help me plan fabric orders, I’d love to get a sense of interest. If you think you might want a kit, just drop me a quick email at sewnwildoaks@gmail.com. No prepayment, no deposit...just a note to say “I’m interested.” Pricing is still TBD, as I’ll need to factor in potential tariff changes.

As soon as I get the quilt made and quilted, I'll be shipping her off to Hobby House Needleworks in Victor, NY where I will be teaching this quilt next May. They will be posting information about my class soon. They will also be making kits for the quilt. I will also be doing my humorous trunk show the day before the class.

There’s been a flurry of activity here under the pines at Sew’n Wild Oaks. New fabric lines blooming, kits in the works, preparations underway for the Independence Hall Quilt Faire, and the final retreat of the year just around the corner. It’s the kind of creative whirlwind that has me dreaming in quilts long after the lights go out.

Soon,
Lynn
