Christmas with my Red Hat Sisters!

First of all......

Happy New Year to Everyone!
Whew! I got that over!  NO, I'm not going to talk about my plans for 2013, nor about New Year's Resolutions.

I promised my Red Hat sisters that I would blog and share about our Christmas party.....so have to keep my promise to them.

Our Chapter of The Red Hat Society is called Rubies and Garnets and is one of the first chapters formed in San Antonio, Texas.  I've been a member for many years.

We meet on a monthly basis and go to different restaurants in and around the San Antonio, Texas area.  We are a noisy bunch...laughing, and talking so much that when it's time for our Queen to make some announcements or for a prize drawing...there's a china bell one of her helpers rings to quiet us down.....(ahem!)...politely.

We have been going to the Fair Oaks Ranch Country Club for our Christmas celebration for several years now and boy oh boy...do they ever deck this place out for Christmas!  Everywhere you go there's Christmas trees, poinsettias, garlands, displays.

This is one of the many entryways and it leads to our banquet room.

One of the many displays!

Another Display.

One of the many Christmas trees ...each one decorated differently.

The tables in our banquet room.

The Chandelier in our "party" room.

All decked out in our Red & Purple...waiting for everyone to arrive!

The table and Red Hat sisters where I sat.

All of these Red Hat sisters belong to our Quilt Bee too!  There were several of our "group" that couldn't make it this year...waaaa!  (that's me on the RH side)

Okay...I've fulfilled my promise to them......

Time for other things; like sewing, quilting, & giveaways.....stay tuned!  Be sure to subscribe to my blog (RH sidebar) 'cause I promise some fun things and wonderful surprises this year........AND..... I always keep my promises.

Thanks for visiting!

Fun Red Hat Halloween!

Happy Halloween Everyone!  Tricks or Treats?

If you think Halloween and dressing up is just for kids, think again....and take a look.

We had our annual Red Hat Halloween party on Saturday at the Magic Time Machine Restaurant, and us old gals really know how to dress up/laugh/party and have fun.

Lots of different costumes!

The nun kept us in line, so we had to be good.....darn!

My sister and me.

Lots of fun displays all over the restaurant.

This Hootie Owl had to be Red and Purple....of course!

There always has to be a Red Hat Witch!

Where's our table?

I just had to show you this leather teapot purse!

Of course, we had to have our Princess Peggy attend this royal affair.

Where's the Rum?

Our waiter wanted to play too, but I told him he didn't have a hat, so he grabbed up a napkin and joined us!

We were having so much fun, the Simpson's joined us too!

Hope you have a fun Halloween too!

Rubies and Garnets RHS

I belong to the Rubies and Garnets Chapter of the Red Hat Society in San Antonio.  There are many different chapters and each chapter does 'their own thing'.....as there are no rules and no dues!

Each month the members (ladies 50 and over)  of Rubies & Garnets  get together at a restaurant to have lunch, acknowledge Birthdays, (birthday gals wear purple hats and red dresses)  draw for prizes, share news of local RH events and celebrate.  BUT....the best thing about it is the laughter, fun, comraderie and to see who has bought a new hat.

When we arrive at the restaurant we sign in and leave our exchange gift if we brought one.  We can buy a gift ticket for $1 and if we win a gift, then we have to bring one back the next time.   Always fun!

We also have been having "free lunch" drawings where we can buy $1 ticket for a chance to get our money back for our lunch.

Sometimes it's difficult to find a local restaurant that has a separate room than can accomodate our large group.....30 - 40 members, and it gets "cozy" and noisy.

BOO! These pics. will scare you for sure!

Happy Halloween!

What a fun Holiday.....I've always loved dressing up and still do, even at my age!  It's fun and crazy and brings smiles to everyone.  So, I say WHY NOT?
I remember as a very small girl (maybe 5-6)  dressing up in one of Mom's dresses, a hat, a big purse, and some high heels.  I'd dress up one of my dollies too, put her in my buggy, go outside and "parade" up and down the sidewalk in front of our house hoping one of the neighbors would see me.  Mom didn't let me go very far, so I had to go back and forth in front of our house....back and forth...clop, clop, clop in those high heels.  What fun that was!

Our Red Hat Society Halloween party was a blast!  I thought I'd share a few pictures of all us "juniors"  in our silly costumes. (yes..I like that word better than seniors, so thought I'd use it instead)

My sister, Jerre, was Miss Sew and Sew.  Since I was born in July and the sign of Cancer (Crab), this Red Hat for me was perfect!

Here's Miss Sew and Sew again with one of our Tied Together Bee members as a "Lady of the Night".  That hat is bigger than she is!

These were some of the best costumes of the day!  The restaurant where we go every year is called the Time Machine, and our waiter was dressed up as Ace Ventura  (Jim Carrey's movie).  He sang and did a skit for all the Birthday girls celebrating their birthdays in October.....fun stuff!

We Red Hat "Juniors" really know how to have fun!

Our Red Hat Society group is called Rubies and Garnets and was one of the first chapters formed in San Antonio.

Last picture, but not the last of the fun.....Sister Jerre - Miss Sew and Sew, Red Hat Devil (Jerre's oldest daughter, Alice) and the Red Crab (me).

Have a fun Halloween!

"BIG KIDS" & their Halloween Costumes!

We had our Annual Red Hat Halloween party yesterday at a restaurant called the Time Machine.  The waiters & waitresses are always in costume and it's especially a fun place to go for a DIGNIFIED LUNCHEON for older ladies!

Here is Patches the Clown, one of my quilting friends.  She has different "PATCHES" costumes for different events, and for Halloween she is scarecrow.  She goes to nursing homes, children's hospitals, etc., to brighten others lives!  She is a member of our Tied Together Quilt Bee.

We had a couple of San Antonio SPURS cheerleaders, a college graduate, witches, Raggedy Ann, Saloon Girls,  an Indian, a nurse, Red Riding Hood passing out the candy is our Queen...........  lots of Red Hat Witches, A Construction Worker, A dancer.

This is our Pirate Waiter showing off his "hot buns"!

                                                                                        Witches, witches, and more witches!
A fun time was had by all us DIGNIFIED LADIES!
