Joyful Winter Skies Christmas Card

Hi everyone, Taheerah here wishing you a happy Friday! Only a few more sleeps until Christmas!

I love the sky at night in Winter! Apart from Christmas, it's probably the best thing about this season. If it's a clear night the Winter constellations are easy to identify, and are amongst my favourites to gaze at - whilst wrapped up warm of course!

It was probably all that I had in mind when I was putting together the final card for the blog this year, reaching for the Lawn Fawn Winter Skies stamp set to create a festive card fit for the season:

Stunning, right?!

I started by stamping my cute fox couple using Versafine Onyx Black ink, so I could get the position for the other elements. I then tore a strip of washi tape and placed that on my card base to form a mask for my craggy snowy landscape. I blended a number of different inks to create my night sky then splattered on water droplets and some mists to create my starry backdrop.

I coloured my foxes using colouring pencils. No fancy blending this time, but I think that adds to the charm of the scene! I wanted my cute couple to catch a glimpse of something magical in the night sky, so I stamped Santa and his reindeer-pulled sleigh using Versafine Onyx Black ink.

Finally, I heat embossed my sentiment, stamping it using my Versamark inkpad. My sentiment comes from the Mice On Ice stamp set which is currently out of stock (dotted the 'j' with one of the stars from the Winter Skies set though!), but the Lawn Fawn Winter Scripty Sentiments stamp set is still on the shelves and has a lot of great alternatives in that same whimsical font!

That about wraps it up for the blog this year, and Seven Hills Crafts will be back in 202 with loads of awesome goodies and inspiration for you all to enjoy! For me though, this marks my final card for the Design Team as I'm stepping down and away from the crafty side of life. I've had the most amazing time representing Seven Hills Crafts and would like to thank Tara and the team for all their support and love while I've been on the team. I'll continue to remain a loyal customer though as really where else can you go to that is so awesome for all your crafty needs?!

Finally, thank you to all those that visit the blog and have commented on my creations over the years. I've cherished every comment more than you can know. So, for the final time...  I'd love to hear what you think of this creation. Is there someone you know who'd love to receive it?

Thanks for stopping by, and wishing you all the best for a wonderful Christmas and New Year,

Taheerah x

Trio of Thank You Cards

Hello, it's Liz here today. Call me old fashioned but I still send 'thank you' cards. I know that these days a text or an email is more likely but what could be nicer than a handmade card popping through the letter box to say thank you for a lovely present or dinner or just for being there when you needed them.

The background papers are from the 6x6 pad 'Home Again' by Carta Bella, I love all the shades of teal in this pad. The flowers, sentiments and the double outlines round the sentiments are all from the 'Annuals' stamp set by Concord & 9th.

The double outline and sentiment was stamped directly onto the white cardstock panel. I then stamped the flowers onto watercolour card using Versafine Onyx Black, coloured with my Altenew watercolour paints and trimmed around (the matching dies are available here). I drew a freehand line around the edge of the white panel to match the style of the stamped lines. As a finishing touch I added enamel shapes, there's a huge choice in the store here.

Thanks for stopping by today, happy crafting!

Never Too Many Cats Card

Hi everyone, Taheerah here wishing you a happy Friday!

If you've followed my work before you'll know I love cats. I've had cats in my family for generations and I've always had at least one cat in my home. In my opinion you can never have too many cats.

Which is entirely the sentiment of today's card:

Awesome, right?!

I pulled out the Lawn Fawn Tiny Halloween stamp set and stamped my entire card front with the cat stamp. I knew this set was a cute must-have the moment I saw it, but once I had it in person and saw just how tiny the images were I was head over heels!

The cats and sentiment were all stamped using  Versafine Onyx Black ink. Once all the stamping was done I coloured the design with markers. A quick and simple card that definitely speaks the truth: you can never have too many cats!

I'd love to hear what you think of this card. Is there someone you know who'd love to receive it? Thanks for stopping by!

Love You Miss You Big Hugs Typewriter Card

Hi everyone, Taheerah here wishing you a happy Friday!

Continuing from my last post where I talked about my love of vintage/retro stuff, today's card is dedicated to typewriters! There's just something so satisfying about typing with one of these machines and seeing your words brought to life! There was only one set I wanted to pull out to honour this theme - the SugarPea Designs You're My Type stamp set:

Awesome, right?!

I started my stamping just the typewriter part of the stamp using a mix of kraft and pale grey inks, spritzing with water to blend the colours and create a more faded look. I added some splatters of black mist to my base for an inky look.

This card really came together so quickly thanks to this set! I stamped my three sentiments and heart onto a skinny strip of cardstock using Versafine Onyx Black ink, trimmed them out and adhered them in place with dimensional glue gel. That's it - quick, simple, and stunning!

I'd love to hear what you think of this card. Is there someone you know who'd love to receive it? Thanks for stopping by!

Warhol Pop Art Retro Telephone Hello Card

Hi everyone, Taheerah here wishing you a happy Friday!

I'm a big fan of vintage/retro stuff, and a big fan of Pop Art! So when I saw the Altenew It's For You stamp set with that awesome vintage phone I just knew what I had to do:

Awesome, right?!

I started my trimming my card base out and dividing the space into quarters. I stamped my detail stamp first using Versafine Clair inks, then overstamped with a paler, water-based colour.

I overstamped the phones with Versamark ink and heat embossed with clear embossing powder. I then masked off each square in turn and swiped the background colours on using a water-based ink! Because the embossing powder resists the ink I was able to use a slightly damp tissue to buff the colour off the phones to retain their colours!

I wanted a retro style sentiment so I reached for a fan favourite - the SugarPea Designs You're My Type stamp set! I stamped my sentiment in the centre using Versafine Onyx Black ink and I was all done!

I'd love to hear what you think of this card. Is there someone you know who'd love to receive it? Thanks for stopping by!

Grungy Classic Vinyl Record Wall Art

Hi everyone, Taheerah here wishing you a happy Friday!

As you'll probably remember, I love the vinyl record trend and already had a stab at a masculine card with the Avery Elle For The Record stamp set (if you want to check out that post it's here). Today though I finally got a chance to break out the SugarPea Designs Greatest Hits stamp set as it is back in stock at long last!

I decided to go all-out and use a few different stamping techniques and ended up with something more like a roughly 8"x6" piece of art that I could hang on the wall:

Awesome, right?!

I stamped the record image over and over again using a variety of colours. But, look closer! You'll see that each of the records has a grungy/rustic/distressed look that I created with the help of a few household objects!

I used a face cloth, scrunched up wrapping paper, scrunched up tissue paper, a balled up piece of kitchen towel and various inks to create each record!

I used the items to dab colour away and/or to sponge additional colours on. No two look the same and the end result is awesome!

I stamped the labels with contrasting colours for each record, stamped the sentiment using Versafine Onyx Black ink (the big one is out of stock but you can still nab the cube!), and then came the fun part - lots and lots of splatter!

I'd love to hear what you think of this. Is there someone you know who'd love to receive it? Thanks for stopping by!

To The Birthday Girl

Hello, it's Liz here today. When I was little (I'm going to show my age now) I loved playing with those paper dress up dolls. The outfits had little foldover tags to attach them to the cardboard doll, hours of fun! Well this stamp set reminded me of those dolls. It's the Fashion Wear Stamp Set by Concord & 9th. You get two basic face stamps and then you can stamp different hairstyles and accessories. This means you can personalise for the recipient. There's loads of sentiments too!

For my card I used the largest die from the Wonky Stitches set by Avery Elle to cut a piece of watercolour card. I then stamped my girls using Versafine as I used watercolours to colour. The background patterned paper is from the Vintage Botanicals paper pad.

Thanks for stopping by today, happy crafting!
