Mammoth Birthday Wishes

Hello, Jenny here welcoming the new week and today's card is the product of some colouring practice. I've been keeping a watchful eye over our little dog this week whilst he recovered from an operation, so I found it easier to stamp out some images and colour them wherever I needed to be...... I went through my stamps and found some sets I hadn't inked up yet!!!

This Woolly Mammoth and his friend are from Neat and Tangled's Prehistoric set.... I love how she's positioned so she can sit on his back!! I masked off the girl and stamped the mammoth so they were all one piece and then set about colouring them with markers.

I carefully trimmed around the image and used a couple of scenery images from MFT's  You're Rawr-some..... the boulder is the top to a small mushroom in MFT's You Gnome Me, it's the perfect shape!

I sometimes struggle to plan a layout on my cards so I turned to my patterned paper scraps for a background. I thought a cut on the diagonal would be a different way to add a focal area for the images as well as leaving a space for the sentiment.... another thing I'm not great at planning for either!!
I've used a sentiment from the Rawr-some set and just replaced the word BIG with die cut letters instead to accentuate the meaning.

That's one scrap of patterned paper used.... many, many more to go!!!

Birthday Dress

Hi there, Jenny with you this Bank Holiday Monday..... I hope the summery attire on my card doesn't curse the weather too much!!! I was in need of a girly birthday card so I decided to ink up the Heatwave Stamp set from Waffleflower... another fab layering stamp set to play with :)

I love teal and black together.. so striking and almost retro when mixing it with off white neutrals.
I started by layering the dress and shoes, they are really quite easy to line up, and stamped the glasses too which I turned into sunglasses with black and teal coloured markers.

I decorated a card base using a couple of borders from the Pattern Play stamp set, I took my inspiration for this from an item of my own clothing... I think it makes a fun background :)

To make the clothing stand out on the card base I used the Doily Square die to make a matt and cut the word 'Birthday' into it using MFT's Bottlecap letters... love the pattern showing through the blocky letters :)  I added 'Happy' which is stamped in the same teal ink onto a Sentiment Strip because I didn't have the right coloured embossing powder to match the natural card base!!

A Splash of Pink

Hello and happy Monday to you :)

I'm kicking off the new week with a simple card.
Like Tara, I need a New Baby card to send this week and although I'm not a huge fan of 'pink for a girl' I thought I'd add a splash to my otherwise very CAS card and keep it traditional...

I've used Lawn Fawns Little Bundle stamps and dies but I swapped the washing line poles for the branch in Deck the Halls ... not so overpowering in black ink :)

To decorate the onesie I've used the small hearts in the set with Altenew's Frosty Pink ink. The BABY letters are cut using MFT's Bottlecap Letters and to make them match the onesie, I swiped the same pink ink across the card before die-cutting.

To ground my washing line and keep the scene simple I used the smaller of the MFT Grassy Fields die cut in white card and then used a black pen to draw in the spikey detail :)
