Its a guy thing!

On an earlier post I shared many feminine projects!
Today I want to show you a few layouts on the masculine side!

First up is is two fabulous layouts by Sindi using the SOD kit

To make the shapes behind the photo, she cut rectangles from some of the patterned paper, then cut them in half lengthwise on a diagonal to make the ends pointed, then cut a "v" shape into the flat ends of two shapes. For the title, she traced around some chipboard letters on white cardstock, cut them out and adhered them with dimensional tape.

She used an older photo of her little guy standing around looking grumpy.  She cut strips of patterned paper in rectangles and snipped the ends to look like they were on a diagonal then roughed up the edges.  She added a few buttons and wrapped some twine around some pieces and also used some leftover chipboard shapes from last month's kit.

Next is a fabulous layout by Kathy also using July's SOD kit

Starting with a plain white piece of cardstock, she covered it with gloss gel medium.   Next she used modeling paste and an older stencil with triangle designs, she wanted a geometric feel to the layout.  she outlined some of them with a black pen to make them stand out.  Once everything dried she sprayed the around the area where the photo, mats, etc., would be located with silver, black and blue inks and gesso to make the paint splatters.  she also stamped like crazy using a Bo Bunny stamp.

Next up is a real stunning piece from Wilma also using the SOD kit

For the background, first some stamping here and there. Melinda always puts the embellishments in paper bags when she sends out the kits, so Wilma used it!
She took a piece of it, ripped it and used it on her first layer.
The paper wings are cutouts from the Bo Bunny emporium line, which was part of the kit.
Over it the she placed the Finnabair metal wings from the Elements Add On.
With a brush and Lindys mist from the color add on she added lines here and there under the cluster and around the borders.
She did not want flowers , so she tore a few little leftovers pieces of paper and crunched them .
A touch of texture in place of flowers.

and Finally a layout  by me....

The handsome dude in the photo is our oldest son....he really is a wonderful kid.
This shot was taken just before he started high school!

The Gears and stuff are chipboard and metal pieces.  Bits and pieces left over from previous kits.
I wanted everything to look cohesive so I misted, painted, gessoed and embossed them all to look like old metal pieces.

Destinations.....

Good morning everyone!

Today I am sharing a few gorgeous projects of destinations!

First up is Wilma with a stunning mixed media piece
using the Scraps Of Darkness 'Sindi's Summer Day' kit.
I don't know where she was but it sure is beautiful!

She started out with strips of one of the Websters Pages papers from the kit, and then creativity took over

She cut leaves out of the paper and doodled a little on them.

In the kit are stencils from Faber - Castell  she added gel medium from the kit to both sides .
The brick stencil is used over the whole layout as first layer with modeling paste.
Than a layer of gesso and the Shimmerz Keep Palm mist (funny name and great color)
The Prills from the Creativity Add On in the wet gesso got the same green color.

The pink and blue flowers are from the kit, and the others are from her stash.
She colored them with the Shimmerz Sour Apple Dazzlers from the Creativity add on and paint..
Some black and white accents with the cute buttons (Queen and Co from the kit)
Doodling here and there.. done

Next up is Sindi, also using the same kit (which was named after her!).

She created this wonderful multi photo layout with photos from her trip to Niagara Falls!

She used the patterned paper from the kit to cover some chipboard letters.  She used a bit of sandpaper to roughen up the edges. It's hard to get a perfect edge on those, so the sandpaper gave it a shabby look that worked well.

She used some of the stickers across the top along with one of the arrow pieces.

For the bottom of her page, she cut some of the Amy Tan green chevron paper from the main kit and roughened the edges up a bit to give it dimension. She used a bit of the twine (from the main kit) to make a circle and topped that off with a heart and two more arrows (also from the main kit) .

And Finally is a layout that I created about one of our favorite destinations....
the beach.

I also used the Sindi's Summer Day kit.

I just adore this photo of Cody.  Our boys love being at the beach and I can always get a few good shots!

The heart is too adorable!  Its from the Floral add on!

I did a lot of layers with the Websters Pages papers!  Inked the edges and misted some doilies with Lindy's Stamp Gang mist from a previous kit!  The Petaloo butterflies were from the Elements add on.

Those American Crafts tags are so cute!  I added a couple of the wood veneers (hearts and arrows) from the main kit and it is the perfect title!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Just having fun!

Good morning everyone!
Today I want to share a few layouts that are gorgeous, dramatic, a little bit whimsical and more on the simple side.
Now simple does not mean it easy - it really is not...
simple means there is usually white space, sophisticated, use of solid colors or minimal/light design on papers and the photo is front and center!

The first one is simply stunning and from
Sindi using the scraps Of Darkness 'Sindi's Summer Day' kit

She decided to pair the pink watercolor from the kit with some gold glitter. She painted on pink stripes, alternating with gold glitter.

She liked the triangle stickers from the kit, so she decided to mimic those with some patterned paper.

She topped it all off with some black paint splatters. She decided to do my journaling in a curvy fashion  because the layout is arranged in a linear pattern.

Next up is a wonderfully fabulous layout from Tracey Gregory using the same kit....

Tracey was inspired by our June inspiration board!

And finally a fun and whimsical layout by me using the same kit!

The adorable kids are our goofy son Tyler and our silly niece Alicia!  They were really enjoying being funny together!

I created a little banner and did a floral cluster!

I added a few gems from a previous kit!

In the color add on are the wonderful color lab sparkling pigments!  They are very cool!
I wet my brush and dipped it the powder and then painted the wood hearts!

Sindi kicks off Sindi's Summer Day!

Good morning!

I think it's only fitting since this wonderful Scraps of Darkness kit is called
'Sindi's Summer Day' kit that I spotlight Sindi's layouts first!

Sindi really loves this kit - she says it is so her!

I love what she created with it...

She has been loving scrapping her childhood photos. This kit fits that topic perfectly! She used the patterned paper to make these cool circles.

She cut out a bunch of circles in varying sizes. Then, she cut them evenly in half.  She put the halves together to make colorful circles. The buttons from the kit worked perfectly as center pieces. She also scattered some of the butterflies and jewels around the page.

I just adore her handwriting!

This layout is centered around a selfie she took of her big kid and herself at a baseball game last weekend.  When she looked at the photo, she thought about how grown up her son is all of a sudden. her next thought was "Wow. I have an almost-thirteen-year-old. I'm an old lady!"

She used the pink watercolor from the kit along with some yellow paint she had lying around to make this background. She loves the pink watercolor. It spreads so beautifully on the page. She cut out some small circles from the patterned paper and folded them several times to make them more dimensional before attaching them randomly around the page.

She also added some glitter to the chipboard pieces. She loves the gold/pink combination! She topped it off with a few splatters of black ink.

I really love Sindi's style and really think that Melinda did an awesome job creating a kit with  Sindi's style in mind!
