Happy Easter -SOUS reveal

It's another reveal day at SOUS and Leah had a new sketch for us to work with. I wanted to do this photo of Noah and Isla with their Easter Baskets so I started hunting for paper. Well, it seems I don't have anything purple in my stash, so I settled for the next best thing. I must really love this paper as I discovered that I used it for my last layout too, complete with the same background. Funny how our eye goes back to the same things.

If you have a chance to try the sketch out, make sure to link it up over on the SOUS blog! Check back daily as designers are offering inspiration everyday.

Shine Bright

May already! Hard to believe! Well, today I have a layout for you based on Leah's sketch for SOUS. The sketch itself looked kind of mixed media to me and here's the thing...I do mixed media and I do layouts, however, I don't do mixed media layouts lol. Oh, believe me I've tried and I just don't like how they turn out for me. There are so many stars of that particular style, but alas, I'm not even going there. So to that end, the paint swipes became layers for me. :) You just have to interpret things according to your own style and that's the beauty of it!

Anyways, the photos were taken of Renee before we left for her dance performance. She took ATS this term and loved it. The girl just shines when she dances. Here's a shot of her in another dance she performed....

Good thing she had time in-between to get changed. I used an odd collection of patterned papers for the layout. They are Bo Bunny's Sweet Tooth, which is primarily focused on cooking and baking, but the colors were perfect for her outfit and of course, I love the cute patterns.

Please stop on by the SOUS blog and see what designers are showcasing daily over there. Remember to link up your project on the side bar!

All My Love

Today I want to share with you all a layout that I did using the January 30th sketch at SOUS. I decided that I had to get back to working on the wedding albums. To be completely honest, I'm not sure what I was thinking when I started out on this venture! Note to self....think carefully before making promises! LOL!  I'm not even half way through and my scraproom is such a mess, but I"m sure using up all those wedding bits! :) So here it is, another installment. This one is going into Renee's album. She chose the photo of her sister as one she really wanted in her album.

I am having fun though looking through all the pictures again. I'd forgotten how many beautiful ones there were.

Pop on by the SOUS blog to see the current sketch and remember that designers are showing their layouts daily there, so there is always something fun to see! Hope you have a chance to enter the challenge too!

No matter how old you are, it's always fun to decorate Christmas cookies! Renee had a blast with these gingerbread guys and they turned out so cute!

I had an older collection of Bo Bunny papers and embellishments that were just perfect for this layout. Love to use up some of the stash!

Always- SOUS- Sketch reveal

Good morning! Today at SOUS we have a wonderful sketch done by Nanne! When I first saw it, I immediately thought of my daughter's wedding photos ( which by the way I haven't scrapped yet). In my defense though, she only got married 2.5 years ago, so I"m not that far behind! LOL! Anyways, I thought I'd better get my act in gear and start on the albums.

I'm going to be on a mad frenzy to get all the wedding photos scrapped because right now, my whole room is a gigantic mess. I have piles of stuff all over the table and floors, so I have some motivation here!

We'd love to see your creations using this week's sketch, so make sure to link it up on the SOUS blog!

Halloween Candy

Another reveal day at SOUS! This week Leah designed a super awesome sketch to use. This photo of Noah is actually from last year. Thought I better get this one done before starting on this year's photo! LOL! He looked so cute in his Woody Costume and had fun Trick or Treating at the mall.

Witch Hat- SOUS- Die Cut Challenge

Happy Halloween! Today I have a project to share with you that I made for the Die Cut Challenge at SOUS. The challenge is to use any Halloween themed die cut. It was more work than I originally thought to do this hat, but I made it through and I'm super happy with the results! :)

The hat I believe is from Michaels, but I could be mistaken on that. I started off by applying the paper to the form. I used a collection from Bo Bunny called Fright Delight as well as some odds and ends of other papers I had in my stash. I cut strips of paper, wet them slightly and then applied then using mod podge. A little hint if you're going to attempt this project....work in small sections and then dry immediately with a dryer. That way you can press the paper into the creases and around the edges. I found this worked really well. Putting on the strips of paper took a long time, but the effort was well worth it.

I used some dies that I cut out with my Silhouette. This little skeleton key was just perfect to put behind the skull.

I also cut out this spider web and the word Wicked. I put on some stickles to make them pop and then tucked them behind the bow and flower. Another little hint for you....Be careful hot gluing the embellishments on! You don't want to take off a layer of skin like I did! LOL! But again...so worth it! :)

Hope you enjoyed my little project and don't forget to link your die cut entries on the SOUS blog!

Celebrate-SOUS reveal day!

Good morning! It's reveal day at SOUS today and Nanne has provided us with an awesome sketch to work with! I used the sketch to document Isla's 2nd birthday. We were at the lake for her actual birthday, but later had a big family party when we got home. It was celebrated in true Buck Lake fashion with the handmade sign taped on the wall and the lopsided pan cake! LOL! Maybe not the prettiest of parties, but super fun and that's what counts!

Moments to Remember

It's another sketch reveal day at SOUS! The blog is filled with inspiration, so be sure to go on over and take a peek! My layout for this week is for Renee's album. We went to the Pumpkin Festival last Fall ( yes, I'm still on last year's layouts :)) It was a gorgeous Fall day and we had a great time looking at all the displays, going to the Market Gardens and seeing all the huge pumpkins. They also have a vintage car/truck display in the streets and Renee loved posing in front of many of them.

I used a line from Bo Bunny called Serenade. It has really pretty Fall colors in it and they were just perfect for this photo! Remember that SOUS now has a great prize every month, so you don't want to miss out on a chance at winning! Thanks for stopping by! :)

Family Love

I found a sketch at Sketchabilities that I thought would work for the photo that I wanted to scrap today, so I used that and some Bo Bunny papers and embellishments. We celebrated Valentines Day with a dinner at Chantal's. I'm holding up some Valentines that Noah made for us.  So fun!

It's a Perfect Kind of Love- SOUS reveal

Another Friday and another great sketch to work with at SOUS! I know I've used these photos before, but I wanted to do one for Noah's album and one for Isla's!  And besides, I just love these photos of them! LOL! I want them to remember how much they loved each other when they get to be teens! :) Right now, Isla totally adores her brother and wants to do every single thing he does. It's so cute!

Hope you can join in the challenge! There's a great prize being offered and you won't want to miss out on the chance! Hop on over to the blog to see what everyone has come up with and to see the great sketch!

Riding the Waves

I had a little bit of time today, so thought I'd work on another page for Noah's book! This was taken last summer. We had just gotten a new tube and the kids had so much fun trying it out. Noah wasn't sure about it at first, but he soon was laughing away and wanting more rides!

I based this very loosely on a Page Map sketch and used some great Bo Bunny Key Lime papers and embellishments.

Elf Antics

It's another reveal day at SOUS and Leah has a fun sketch to share with everyone! I took a few liberties with this one I have to admit. What I saw when looking at the sketch was two big clusters. I knew that the photos I wanted to use were oriented a different way from the sketch, so I just flipped the sketch on it's side.

Here is my interpretation of what I saw....

I think that's the beauty of sketches! You can use them as a starting point for inspiration and then make them your own to fit your own style!  Hop on over to the SOUS blog and gather up some inspiration! Remember SOUS is now having a great prize every month! You won't want to miss out on a chance at that!

Project Life-SOUS reveal!

Hope the New Year is treating you well! I'm working on finishing up my Project Life for 2013 and I'm happy to say that I'm almost there! :) One of the secrets I've found for myself is that I can't get too far behind. Otherwise, it's a lost cause! (like 2012..cough, cough)  I had a whole new outlook for last year and it served me well! Anyways, onto the SOUS reveal for this week!  The challenge given to us this week was to use vellum. I dug into my stash and of course, I had tons of vellum, but what I found that was fun to use was the Merry Christmas title. It is a vellum title that was in a book of all kind of different titles. I hadn't used many of them, but I sure will now! I love using things up! I also took out my punches and punched some fun little accents out of vellum to add to the card!

I have been doing a December Daily/Project Life combined feature in my album. I used the Bo Bunny Elf Magic which of course, was just perfect for this one. One little thing to keep in mind when doing Project Life is that you don't want your pages too thick. The collection had some really fun dimensional stickers, but they were just too thick to use in the album. So what I did was gently pry the layers apart. This is going to give me 3 separate little elves to use! YAY! Way to make your stash go further!  Ok, enough of me yammering...head on over to the SOUS blog to get some vellum inspiration! Until next time......

Back to School- SOUS

So it begins, the start of another new year and the first sketch challenge for SOUS! Today we have a great sketch done by Leah! Please stop on by the blog and see the sketch as well as the creations from the other designers! SOUS is now offering blog candy to one lucky scrapper every month who joins in any of the challenges, so be sure to join in the fun!  I'm, of course, a little behind in my scrapping, but I think it's appropriate to show you the start of another new year, which was the beginning of Renee's school year last September!

Renee is one those kids who just loves school! She loves her teachers ( well  most of them lol). She loves getting involved in school activities, clubs etc. She likes trying out for teams. She even likes homework and assignments! We couldn't be more proud of her and all she has accomplished!

So as just a little side note...I was contacted awhile back by someone from Love To Know and they asked if they could use my Disney layout in an article. I said yes and today I saw the link!  Here it is for anyone interested. I thought it was kind of cool! http://scrapbooking.lovetoknow.com/Disney_Scrapbook_Ideas

FaLaLa

This paper was just so cute that I had to use it for a layout of Noah as well! I just love that little elf peeking out! Reminds me of the kids! :)  I'm entering this in Let's Get Sketchy's Bingo Challenge. What I used to make a row was  3 patterned papers, one photo, paper tearing and a diecut! I'm going to be so sad when I use up this collection! It's so cute for the little ones!
