Happiness- SOUS reveal

Hello and welcome to another sketch challenge at SOUS! Today's sketch was designed by Leah and it's a beauty! I chose to alter it as I only had one photo that I wanted to use and used the other side to add some journaling cards in place of a photo! That's the versatility of sketches!

Chantal, Renee and I took a trip to Las Vegas last summer! It was so fun! We did so much shopping I thought my feet would fall off! This photo is of Renee in the Bellagio Gardens. Such a pretty place to take photos! We had such a great time and I hope we can do it again sometime!

Please pop on over to the SOUS blog to enter your layout and see what the designers came up with!

Sweetheart-SOUS

Yay! It's Friday and that means another reveal day at SOUS! Today we had a really fun sketch done by Nanne to work with. Make sure to stop on by the blog to see it! I did one more layout for Isla's baby book using this sketch. This photo was actually taken on the day of her 1st birthday! She had a super fun day at the lake on her birthday. We played in the pool and went to the park. It was a beautiful day out and she had a blast!

I used an older Authentique line to do this layout. I'm kind of running out of girly papers. I'm thinking a shopping trip is in store soon! Please stop on by the SOUS blog to see what the designers created using this sketch and perhaps give it a try yourself!

Sweet- SOUS

Happy Friday everyone! Another reveal day at SOUS!  Here is a layout that I did for Isla's baby album. I can't believe how fast she is growing and before I know it, we'll be celebrating her 1st birthday! These photos were taken in March when she was 7 months old!

Here is the very pretty sketch done by Sandi!

Now, sometimes I have to admit that I'm pushed out of my comfort zone, but in this case, I'm sure glad I was. I love how my layout turned out. I did take some liberties and turn the sketch on it's side and I used square photos instead of round, but all in all... Success!

There are some absolutely gorgeous layouts done by the design team on the blog! Please stop on by when you get a chance!

Delightful- SOUS reveal

TGIF once again Scrappy Friends! Today we have something a little bit different at SOUS! It's a double page sketch for you!

It's been such a long time since I've attempted a double pager. Back when I first started scrapping, everything I did was basically a double page spread. I kind of lost the habit of doing that over the years, so it was somewhat of a challenge for me to do it again. Now I'm going to have to apologize for the quality of the photos. I'm still having to take my photos indoors and you just don't get that good lighting. It looks SO much better in real life. I was abit disappointed when I just couldn't get it to look right. ( I'm not big on editing, so that wasn't an option) Anyways, here it is....

This is Little Miss Isla. The photos were taken in February. I'm doing an album of her first year, so a double page spread went perfectly into this project! I had a ton of fun using my Silhouette on this layout. I tried out some flowers, cut some doilies and some arrows! I think I'm getting the hang of using it, although I'm still at the beginner stages of my learning. I also tried out some misting on the background. Most of it turned out to be under the layers! LOL! Oh well, maybe next time I'll be better planned!

Hope you can join in the fun and try out a double page spread! Yours might just be chosen in the Top 3 and showcased on the blog! Also be sure to check out what the other designers came up with. Some really great inspiration to be had!

Baptism

This is another one for my Family Album. Isla was baptized in November of 2012. I used a collection from Authentique called Delightful. I cut a few things out on my Silhouette for this layout, like the hexagon background and the banner. So fast and easy. I'm loving it!

Special-SOUS reveal

Happy Friday everyone! Christmas is soon approaching. Is everyone ready? I know I'm not, but that's nothing unusual! LOL! But what I am ready for is to reveal this wonderful sketch created by our very own Sandi Clarkson and the layout I did based on it!

Now, I know this sketch looks very Christmasy with it's colored lights, but if you're anything like me, I should be scrapping Christmas somewhere around March and that's pushing it! LOL! So what you're getting is Noah's first kiss with his new baby sister. This was taken in the hospital before she came home. He was so very sweet and gentle with her and still is. He is a great big brother and it's just one of those very tender moments I wanted to remember.

Hope you can find some time with all the activity of the season to stop on by SOUS and see what all the designers have created and maybe if you're all done shopping, you'll have time to give the sketch a try!

My Baptism Day

It's Card reveal day at SOUS! Today we have a fantastic card sketch done by Sandi Clarkson!

Isla's Baptism was coming up and I wanted to make her a card for her special day. This is what I came up with based on the sketch. I tried a couple of new things here (although you can't really tell..lol) I always had trouble adhering things like lace to a layout, until I discovered Mod Podge.  It's so easy to use and believe me, nothing moves once you put something onto your paper with it. Much better than all my previous trials! I also broke down and bought some embossing powder. I've never tried using it before, but thought I'd give it a whirl on my little flowers. Up close, you can see it, but I'm not sure it really shows up here. It's something that I will definitely try out again on a bigger surface.

Hope you can come, join in and try out the sketch!

Family- Mother's and Father's Day

Just posting a quick layout I did of Mother's and Father's Day. I'm trying desperately to get caught up in my family albums. I'm really going to rethink this whole thing for 2013. I have just too many albums on the go. Laya's wedding photos came in last week and I really want to get started on those, but I want to finish all of the other stuff first!

Happy Father's Day

I recently found a wonderful new challenge site called  MOB (Mother's of Boys)! Well, I'm not the mother of any boys, but I do have son-in-laws and I do have a grandson, so I guess that qualifies me! :) I had these photos of Father's Day, so decided to use the sketch there and do this layout! I used some Authentique papers that are just perfect for guys! I made some grungy flowers, used some of my new Washi Tape to add abit of color, did lots of distressing and there you have it!  I turned the sketch over on it's side to accomodate the photos that I had!

Silent Movie

About once every year, Laya and Renee decide that they need to do a Silent Movie. For young people, they have old souls and love these types of movies. It is something they have enjoyed doing since Renee was very young and it is something that they continue to do. I love that they have interests and things they share with each other. It makes me happy to see them spending time together and forging that bond. The theme for this movie was taken from some song ( forgive me on the title here) but something about a Barbie Girl. Anyways, the movie turned out really funny and it's another one I'll add to their collection to view when they're older!

I used a line from Authentique called Lively to do this layout. I cheaped out on the layered patterned papers and cut out the backs to save some. Who can tell from looking at the front anyways? LOL!

True Blue- SOS May I Challenge

This month's challenge at Scrap Our Stash is  "The May I" challenge. The deal was to find someone's layout that you'd like to scraplift. I chose to scraplift a layout done Lynn ( aka scrappyhappymom). Here is her layout....
What a really loved about this layout was that everything was at an angle. I tend to be a very linear scrapper, but I think that the jaunty angle really adds a fun element! I also really loved the spray of layered embellishments across the bottom. So here is my take on her lovely layout.....

This is Bryce, Chantal and Noah celebrating Bryce's birthday. I used a great line of papers from Authentique to do this layout!

Us

This is Laya and Aaron on New Years Eve. I used a sketch from Scrappy Sketches to do this one. I did add a few extra layers at the top. You all know how I love those layers! LOL!  There are several things I loved about doing this layout. First of all, I used an older Authentique line that I had in my stash. I really love using up some product that I have sitting here. As most of you, I have WAY too much stuff and I forget about the older lines and always want the new things. I'm determined though, to start using up some of that older stuff and stay away from the scrapbook stores. Then I pulled out my (often) neglected Cricut machine and used a cartridge that I gotten pretty cheaply off ebay. It is the Flower Shoppe and I got to play around with it and make some little co-ordinating flowers for my layout. Then, I also used up some (really) old brads from the Dollar Store. Ahhh, the joy in seeing those empty packages go in the garbage!

Tried and True Friends

Chantal, Bryce and Noah came over one Saturday night to visit! Renee and Noah as usual were horsing around on the floor. I grabbed my camera and started snapping. Those two get along so well. She's a great aunty! I love the mischievious smile on his face! You KNOW he's up to no good! LOL! I did this one for a challenge at Artful Delight. They had a sketch to follow and I love a good sketch. I'm also entering it into the Unique Crafters challenge. Their first challenge was and anything goes.  I had just gotten this new Authentique paper and was looking for a place to use it. Well, this was it!
